  1. GAAAAA.........ram on the video card?? help......does not compute!!!!... how would I find that info? I dont think I have the manuals for this machine anymore..... I also disable mcaffey before playing, so its not the virus software thanks; Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  2. They have an instinct in them that makes them dangerously aggressive at a moments notice.*** bullshit!! they are not a crazed killer, you should do some homework on this one. all I will attest to is my own dog as I havent been around other pitts for any great length of time. some food for thought about my dangerous dog.... two years ago while I was preparing to video a tandem and doing some ground footage I kept hearing a hollow thunk-thunk-thunk- from outside the dz shack, it wasnt a sound I had ever heard before so I walked outside and found a four year old girl standing next to my dog and hitting him in the head with a wooden mallet - other than flinching and looking at me as I walked outside - as if to say....."help" he wasnt upset at all - I was the one upset that the mother was standing right there while her rotten offspring was antagonizing my "ticking time bomb"...... I lived with my gf for over a year and a half, with her three boys ages 5, 9, and 10. this "dangerously agressive" beast ate with them, slept with them, sat outside the bathtub while they bathed. >probably just letting them tenderize< at a baseball game one of the other families had a 5 yr old daughter that wanted to walk my "monster" so I said ok, but if he starts to pull hard, just let go, she agreed and away they went, he was so attentive to her *(probably just deciding which part to eat first) that he walked with no tugging at the leash, they walked clear across the park and back, the father asked me if he was always that well heeled, I was astonished, he always has to be verbally corected to heel like that...... points of fact - pitbulls naturally have: dog agression NO people agression a love of children any dog that displays people agression should be put down in my opinion if they cannot be retrained, or restrained. you will get bad animals from bad owners, these neglected and abused animals will turn on them or someone else (unfortunately), but to condemn the whole breed is pure ignorance..... your whole opinion is based on what you read in the tabloids and newspapers, what about the thousands and thousands of this breed that dont make the papers because they are in fact, great dogs. do some research before speaking about a subject you know little about, its easy to do....... 3. computer guru's - dudes and dudettes this computer illiterate needs help with a small problem have encountered with a game it runs ok, but the graphics are kinda like stop motion freeze frame from one frame to another. the game is neverwinter nights, it requires: Pentium III 800, or athalon 800 128mb ram (256 recommended) 1.2gb free hard drive space 16mb tnt2-class openGL 1.2 compliant video card direct X 8.1 8x cd ROM I have: 1.3GB celeron processor 256 mb ram 40 gb drive - 80% free and defragged direct x 8.1 3D agp graphics card 8x cd ROM is it time to update my video card? I can double my ram, would this help? thanks; Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  4. my all time heroes/icons/mentors *** Leonard Kunz, owner of skydive Yakima, in washington state - who gave me the basis for all the skills I have developed. Larry Warner - Bob Hannigan, co-owners of Richland skysports in Washington state, for giving me enough leash to learn to swoop in spite of the "no hook turn sign" Jan Davis - former videographer at Lodi California for all the IM's we shared when I had endless questions about freefall videography when I was just starting to shoot tandems. There is one more, but the rat-bastard reads these forums and I wouldnt want it to go to his head. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  5. Spectre is a great canopy, nice staged openings, soft and on heading (mostly) and a great flare. It would definately be a good choice. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  6. some people should be banned from beeing allowed to have animals.. *** Man........ I wish we could get some way to accomplish this...... You hit the nail on the head!!
  7. So can anyone who owns or desires a pit bull tell me what qualities of pit bulls they are seeking in choosing that breed? I'm genuinely curious as I don't know much about them. *** the intense loyalty is one, great intelligence is another (dont know how that got in the mix). they are a rough and tumble breed, playing with them is a great workout-they have a high pain threshhold so rough play is fun to them (and me) They love small people (children) The attacks on children are the results of poor socialization and a poor owner... mine is pretty well voice trained, he is around 4yrs old and quite outgoing as he was socialized as a puppy growing up on a DZ and meeting lots of new people all the time. He has never been in a dogfight or bitten anyone. I take him to local ballgames all the time, I do my best to show everyone that not all the breed are vicious. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... 8. "We're not talking about a bunch of gangsters with guns. We're talking about a 19-year-old kid with a knife and an officer with a gun," said Larissa Matzek, executive director of the nonprofit National Police Accountability Project. "It seems like there would be other ways." *** Good grief!!! some people dont realise that a knife or a hatchet are very lethal in close quarters, if the officer waited then sure...... their may have been a different way---the officer could be the dead party. what do they think he was doing with these weapons? was he going to invite the officer over for a beer?..... I dont think so.... some peoples point of view is incredibly strange..... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  9. allright, dont keep us in suspense.... what was the mal? Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  10. But does he jump? *** LOL, cant seem to find anyone willing to take him on a tandem or AFF..... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  11. having my two year old son for xmas eve, the company owner handing me a 100$bill for xmas. xmas is over Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  12. Many times they do escape and are part of horrific maulings. *** the only time you see this breed in the news is when something bad happens, you never hear about the thousands of them that are not causing any problems...... cause we all know that bad news sells. my stafforshire terrier, all 85 lbs of him has been invited back to every dropzone he has been to. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  13. Feel free to beat me up. *** what for?..... people that are willing to admit a mistake........and say: this is what happened, this is what I did wrong, this is what I can do to prevent it from happening again, this is what I learned....... these are the people that do well in this sport. Ya jumped....Ya lived, -- lesson learned
  14. 2.) If I tell my doc I was skydiving, will my insurance try to sue the DZO? Or the person that owns the field I landed in?*** I broke my leg due to a low turn in 1996, my insurance company was told I was flying a parachute at the time, they refused payment untill I gave them the name of the dropzone, owner, and pilot, I didnt give them anything of the sort, the whole incident was my fault, So I sent them a letter with a brief description of base jumping and told them I had jumped from a tree..... they paid, I healed, everyone was happy. What they dont know, wont hurt YOU... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  15. two spinners so far 1st one stiletto 120, wl 1.5-1 exited at 1800' took a 3 sec delay, bag came out of the container spinning, I knew I was low so I was looking over my shoulder at the spinning bag.... probably dropped a shoulder and made things worse, cutaway and under reserve around 1k 2nd one icarus fx-85 wl 2-1 threw at 3k, hard opening, followed by a stall, and a dive to the right that my body couldnt follow, cutaway and under reserve at 1500' hmmm, what have I learned? 1) dont exit low\ 2) practicing my emergency procedures several times on the ride to altitude every jump is a good thing. 3) the warning panel on the canopy is right...... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  16. That is a very nice tune, do you just play for fun or do you play in a band? Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  17. You shoulda said, "No, but you can be arrested for looking at naked pics of me when I was a young child." *** LOL I am gonna hit him with that one tomorrow!!! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  18. Whatever happened to innocence? *** its long gone.... just a week ago one of my co-workers came to my house, and saw the pics of my son on the wall, and in the corner of one is a black and white photo showing him naked (he thought), he looked and said in a serious tone, you know ... you could get in trouble with the authorities with this one.... I started laughing and then had to explain it was a pic of me at my sons age, and I am pretty sure I cant get in trouble for showing a pic of me naked .... or can I?... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  19. These profiles bother me for some reason. I feel like a whuffo is hiding or spying*** they dont bother me, but if they are dispensing advice I view them with a lot of skepticism... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  20. And ALL of these landings within the pre-planned, and well lit/set-up/established LZ? *** no, the third one with the raven III was in Yakima Wa. with five industrial work lamps set up. The wind blew me about 1/8th mile away, landed in the dark with orchards and hop fields all around. it was this jump that made my decision to downsize. one of the jumps on my stiletto 135 resulted in landing next to a warehouse with no lights other than the one on the flag pole. and our idea of a well lit landing area is to have at least 5 cars with thier headlights on. I know the area around Richland well, I know where the hazards are and are not. - I probably wouldnt be quite as confident at a new dz at night..... Jumping with your head screwed on straight, is in my opinion more apt to enable you to make a night jump safely than a docile canopy is, incorectly handled a canopy with a low wingload can be fatal as well Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  21. what have been your choice of canopies for your night jumps? *** three with a raven III -wingload around .6 four with a glide path ariel 170 -wingload around 1.1-1 two with a triathalon 135 wl 1.3-1 six with a stiletto 135 wl 1.3-1 three with a stiletto 120 wl 1.5-1 two with a icarus fx-85 wl 2-1 these are over a period of 8 years, I would rather stick with what I am current and comfortable with rather then change to a "safer" canopy. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  22. Dude...first you find Jay's thrown ripcord, then you find a phone that should have never seen the light of day again, and it works......... you part bloodhound?? ESP?? you got the damnedest luck. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  23. How often do people at high wing loadings (roughly 1.8 and up) get line twists and how often do they cut away rather than kick out of them? I've seen video of people cutting away less than three seconds after spinning up.*** I rarely get line twists on my FX, maybe one twist in every 50 jumps or so. I have one cutaway on it with a 2-1 wingloading out of 400 jumps and if I would have had more altitude I could have kicked them out. As for people chopping after 3 seconds.... when in doubt - whip it out. High wingloadings get real exciting and use lots of altitude with linetwists real fast...... Roy Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  24. Can't seem to convinve myself that they are safe even though I've not heard that they are not safe. pulling the slider down is pretty important to swoopers, but even with my metal links I can still pull my slider down behind my head, matter of fact, the bumpers over the metal links keep the slider from sliding all the way down on top of my head during opening, I borrowed a friends rig and his slider would come down completely every time....annoying as hell. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
  25. I've got an airbrush...... *** I was thinking fingerpainting....... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
