How do you know exactly what was generating said turbulence? Was your canopy behind the canopy in front of you when it felt pronounced? Are you both saying that you were feeling much less turbulence when your canopy was behind the jumper's body that was in front of you? Go measure your canopy....... width X depth, how many square feet is that? .... how many square feet are YOU total?......... *********' And I realize that airfoils do create wake turbulence, but we're flying at maybe 25 mph in full flight. How much do you think they really generate? I seriously doubt you were misinformed, I think a misunderstanding occured. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

True, the canopy has much more surface area, but it is meeting the oncoming air with, for the most part, the leading edge. It slices the air more cleanly than the pilot, who is essentially plowing through it. *** I have done a fair amount of CRW video's and typically was docking last on my stiletto, it flew just fine behind a persons body, but went completely googly fuck in the turbulance of another canopy, the wake from a human body might have enough size to disrupt a single cell of a canopy, but since they are crossported it "shouldnt" be enough to cause any problems.. Should "hook" turns be banned at demos?
D22369 replied to hottamaly's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The assumption is, if you have the rating, you can make the jump. I know of one skydiver who has her rating because of who she was dating...... she couldnt hit the peas twice in a row to save her life.... she stuck herself in a tree several years ago, and had her Pro rating at the time, I shoulda put this in my quote, I was speaking of personal knowledge... If you check it, TSA can open/inspect your bags in their entirety without you being present. *** NEVER check your rig......unless forced to do so, and check the dollar amount of the insurance for your luggage that the airline provides, last time I checked it wouldnt even cover the cost of my main.... but I believe you can purchase additional insurance.....nice of them to offer this huh...? Tell him no it might "go off" and see what his face looks like *** LOL.........ummmm, they dont have much of a sense of humor..... you should only do this if - A) you have lots of time...... B) you like strip searches..... they can and will take your rig, clothing, etc, completely apart..... if you succeed in pissing them off, better plan on another flight..... Would you sell your rig to get out of a bad situation?
D22369 replied to kai2k1's topic in The Bonfire
I'm broke as hell. Barely limpin by on a few jumps a month. However, I can live without beer, without sex, etc... But, my rig brings me peace. just seems to make everything worth it, ya know??? *** man.......I coulda wrote this......soooooo.....ditto -

Any ideas on what might be added to improve the rating? Get rid of this three jumps and your good to go crap, I know a few jumpers that could bang the peas 10 out of 10 with their larger canopy's, but couldnt do it more than 5 times without a miss on a smaller one..... If you want the rating with a smaller canopy, then It needs to be demonstrated that you can hit the target each and every time with it....3 aint enough proof Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... 'Dead' dad calls daughter at funeral From correspondents in Toronto 18sep04 DANE Squires was late for his own funeral and scared the wits out of everyone involved. Family and friends had gathered at a Toronto funeral home to mourn the retired welder from Newfoundland, whom they believed had been hit by a train. But as relatives were watching the casket being loaded into a hearse, his daughter Trina was told she had an important phone call. Her father was on the other end. "She totally, totally lost it," Mr Squires' brother Gilbert said. "She said, 'There's a ghost talking to me on the phone. Please somebody try to make sense out of this because I'm losing my mind'." Dane Squires was initially identified as the victim of a commuter train accident. The body was badly mutilated, but fit his description, police said. Authorities have not yet correctly identified the victim. Gilbert Squires said: "He (Dane) went to my sister's house and whoever answered the door fainted." He said his brother did not become aware of the confusion until he read his own obituary in a newspaper. Mr Squire's sister had identified the dead man as her brother after viewing the body at the coroner's office this week, police said. --> I think I would have a heart attack.... He still gets to me on the damn phone when he puts on his acts and controls my life*** hang up on him when he starts his shit..., communication via telephone is totally voluntary. Just tell him your too busy for his childish shit, then "click"...... do it everytime, he will eventually figure it out.... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

Everyone started as a rookie....... Learn how to pack well, and they will come find you. I started packing student rigs when I had five jumps to help pay for mine...... then after a month or so of seeing me not create a bunch of malfunctions, some of the experienced jumpers started offering me money to pack theirs.....

Beer, proof enough for me..... there's definately a God. -
Yep, I also make no bones about the fact I am willing to die trying to save them. I don't pretend that I will be so skilled as to be able to catch them, deploy them, and save my own life before we hit. Yes, there are two people I would chase till impact...But I also KNOW that I most likley will fail and will die. I don't pretend that I will be able to be a hero. *** It sounds like we are actually not in total disagreement,

BTW....all of those that have said they would go after someone....Whats your normal pull altitude, and whats the lowest you have pulled --->your quote I am very aware of the risks involved. I will accept them I will never advocate that anyone else tries this. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

I just hope for all of you thrill seekers and heroes going below 2K *** to address that, where did you get thrill seeker? I just stated that "I" have several people that I consider important enough to chase lower than 2k, I never said it was intellegent, and its not like we would be turning points to impress the chicks. I never once tried to talk you or anyone into doing it, I just posted the question: how low will you go? Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

I have had one...... so far this guy was a student at another dz several years prior and took a couple of years off then decided to come back, apparently at the other dz he was on freefall, but putting him out on static line was an adrenaline getting experience for me each time..... he could do the biggest half twisting back/front loop each time...... He looked at me one time as I was hooking up the static line and said " this would be easier if you would just put me on freefall (in a very nasty smarmy voice)........ I reasonably replied "when you can give me a stable exit, we will do that....... He didnt like my reply and one of the other Instructors heard him complaining to another jumper that this dz just doesnt like him and will never let him go to freefall........ I even wore my camera and showed him what was wrong with his exit.... to this day I am sure he considers me a dick.... but his exiting antics were quite exciting.... he's my asshat recipient Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
-
freefall times show that from exit at 3500' to impact is 25 seconds----------------------------------------------------------------------- Thats not from Terminal...thats from starting at zero....Once you are at Terminal you go through 1,000 feet about every 6 seconds while stable.*** remember, The hypothetical question posed - we exited a 2 way from 3500' so we are starting from zero. Please, try it this weekend. Have a buddy flip on his back out the door and go after him. Mark your start altitude and your finish altitude. *** I will see if I can arrange for someone to play bullseye and let you know what happens. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
