how would you stop an video were a tandem gets hurt in the end??? *** Thats a tough one.... either break it before he breaks it......-lol-......sorry and finish before the impact/arrival ....or..........show it all, but I would keep the music going to cover up the groanings and sounds of acute distress.......... Ask him, whatever he wants, is what he should get, if he is fine with all his friends and family seeing him get hurt then give that as the finished product,........not the best for advertisement for our sport, but remember..... its HIS video..... Help needed for puting together a round parachute
D22369 replied to cyflier66's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have a pioneer 20 (26' round parachute). It is in exellend condition but i do not have a container and pilot chute for it. I want to make a working emergency parachute to use wile i am flying gliders. Can i buy a skydiving container and use my pioneer parachute ( even a container with another reserve in it)? *** skydiving containers will feel like a brick on your back ( quite thick )..... your best bet would be to go with a softie, its a container that is designed to only hold one canopy spread out over the size of your back, with a ripcord spring loaded pilot chute, rather than a skydiving container which normally holds two..... Its a bailout rig only...and typically holds only a round..... but anything over your head when the shit hits the fan is a good thing... the pilot of eagle creek skydiving here in Oregon had his ass saved with one last year or two (memory fails me) when one of the jumpers had a premature deployment and he was left with a uncontrollable airplane. Had an interesting wind shear incident yesterday *** I have witnessed windshear first hand .... and that makes your post one of the most understated posts on this forum................ I caught one recently that as I was setting up my left 270, it turned my canopy 90 degrees to the right, upon which I aborted my usual landing in favor of survival.... ***So the question is - was carrying more speed a good thing or a bad thing*** > who knows?, more airspeed, more lift - usually........ or slower airspeed = more time.... 6 of one 1/2 dozen of another.... I dont know if mine was the edge of a dust devil or windshear either..... But I am glad you came through your incident intact.......aint adrenaline great Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... Is it true that there were some locals (idahoeans)that were, shall we say....pissed at not being selected for the dive? Was it because they were'nt up to snuff?.....or more were they an unknown? I got my new Nikes for only $20. At that price, you'd almost think they have trouble selling blue and pink shoes. Silly people. *** I work right next to nike...........I coulda got yer sexy self those same shoes for 10$............. (course with the contacts I have)..........they woulda been a size 6, and a size 9.......... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

The yellow/black canopy is a ParaPlane built in 1969 *** just curious, how does it fly? and more importantly - how does it land? If you ever come out to washington or oregon can I jump it?

I wasn't sure I'd like it but decided to give it a try. My life has changed forever and I can't get skydiving off my mind! *** AHAAA........skydiving claims another innocent, unsuspecting normal seeming person welcome to skydiving, isnt it nice to have a few precious minutes where day to day life will not intrude upon your thoughts?..... Welcome to the sport, you have an excellent dz with a great dzo. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

Does any one think it's because I did them back to back? *** how much time did you have to absorb the info on your dive flow?...... if it wasnt enough time then that is why you didnt perform to spec..... IMO.....other factors....did you stay out late partyin?... not get enough sleep? I know..... tell yer girlfriend to quit wanting sex 5 times a night on the nights before you jump seriously now, some times a person just isnt running 100%, talk to your instructors and listen to their advice. by the way........welcome to skydiving your bank account will probably never recover.......but you will never have this much fun with your clothes ON !!! When does Your Audible first go off on RW jumps
D22369 replied to j3zz's topic in Safety and Training
mine is set at 3500', 2000', and 1500'....unless I am working with a student with an assigned pull alt.. if I forget there is a planet about to run me over this will give me enough time to respond irregardless of whether I am freeflying, RW, or messed up in a crew wrap........ not a lot of time if I am freeflying and miss the first signall but enough... I use my eyes more than it or my wrist mount. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it. -
Ever been in a real knife fight and NOT been cut?
D22369 replied to Tonto's topic in Speakers Corner
a knife fight only requires one of the participants to actually have a knife....... yep, been in one, yep took the knife away...yep, got cut..... gotta grab the wrist...not the blade... didnt even know I had been cut till it was over, then I was wondering where in the hell this blood was coming from....... sharp pointy things hurt..... and require stitches (edit).....its really hard to get in a knife fight with someone who knows how to use one and not get cut... Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it. -
there is no cost for learning to pack at our DZ. *** Its great to hear that there is still some dz's that dont try to gouge the students of every nickel.... when I started there wasnt a "packing class"....it was a bit different, you picked up some beer and the dzo or instructor sat down and showed you how it was done. Its called giving back.....and seems to be quickly vanishing from our great sport.....I help beginning jumpers all the time for free, as long as its ok with the particular dz, (dont wanna shoot myself in the foot ya know) Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

Be like me and suck equally at all disciplines. *** HEY!!!!>.............thats MY line

So that means out of 100 people we run into on this site, 6 are going to be seriously certifiable? By most of the threads that I read, I would have guessed that percentages were MUCH higher than that! *** actually a study suggests that in america 3 out of 4 individuals need psychiatric help.........think of your 3 best friends.......if they are normal.....its YOU........ Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

Buckeye Arizona has my vote, as soon as I walked on I was invited on two separate jumps and had to decide which group to jump with, the people are awsome, the dzo is very cool They had skydive oregons caravan when I was there......kinda funny to go that far just to jump a local plane....... cant wait to go back! Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

Dude!!!! that sucks, good luck finding them...... but if you do, and you want to "talk" to them about it, gimme a ring, I will show up with the party hats on a unrelated subject....... who is going to Jeffs party this weekend? did he score a jump plane? Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
