  1. Not an unreasonable statement given the hysterical reaction in the US based on his middle name. Let alone in a region where the implications are far more with that name. Performance Designs Factory Team
  2. As mentioned by another poster, I would suggest you contact Brian Vacher at Empuria. He is a well respected coach, and pilot, and can best guide you on when to start competing, and the wing you should be doing it under. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. See you this weekend :) Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. I disagree. I don't want this forum to turn into a carnage site. There's enough posters out there who will point out silly mistakes to not warrant this type of thread. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. You need to go back, read what I wrote, and specifically take note of where I set a poster straight who, incorrectly, inferred I knew anything about your situation or demo and misunderstood my post otherwise (although I wish I'd written the original more clearly). Post #256 as a reference. My comment was an out loud question on if a demo would be sent to you, had you asked for one with all your information. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. Yeah, I'm necro threading, but considering RB3 is coming out - look at their answer to the people who say "Learn to play the real thing". Note, this is an option and the original 5 button controller mode still exists. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mi6QuHGyGCY Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. Nope, I'm not implying that at all. I have no idea if they'd send out a demo with to the individual - I'd assume not, but I don't honestly know. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. True. Although they do often call DZ's to confirm a jumper is cleared for the canopy they are attempting to buy/demo. It would be interesting to see what would happen if the OP tried to demo one and filled in all the correct info honestly. I don't know if they'd let it out or not but it'd be interesting. 9. Check back with me on that after you get a few more years time in grade. Sure, I've only been in the sport for 14 years - I know I'm still a baby. Likewise, you get back to me when you're in the real world. You cannot see everywhere at once. There is ALWAYS a blind spot as long as you dont have eyes that can see in every direction. 10. Nonsense. Performance Designs Factory Team
  11. He is known to all simply as "Our Fearless Leader". Or Mr. Glass....... Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. If you think, for one second, it's not possible for someone to sneak up on you, you're a danger in the air. You should fly, always, like everyone is trying to kill you. That said, it's totally possible to 'fly right' and have someone place you in harms way without you knowing until it's actually happening. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. Very odd indeed. That's a pretty high 'whacker' ratio
  14. Quick question(s): 1) How many jumps do you have, total, on the canopy. 2) How many hard openings have you had? Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. Mel, Poorly maintained rubber bands, or tube stows will cause the same issue if present on the locking stow. All that matters is that the locking stow is secure, tight, and that the lines reach full stretch before coming out of the band. Your blanket statement is still absurd, no matter how you cut it. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. Now there is part, if not all of the problem. Tube stows! Use the small rubber bands and the issue should go away. MEL Mel, sorry, but that's total nonsense. I'm not a tubestow fan, but to outright claim they're the cause of hard openings is absurd. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  17. I thought you were for "less government" and letting the "free market" decide things. Only when it's convenient Performance Designs Factory Team
  18. You're going to find people say bad things about just any canopy - likewise there will be those who say good things about the same canopy. You really just need to demo all the different kinds, and see which one YOU like best. It's really just that simple. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. +1 Plenty of 'freestow' bags out there to prove it too. Long as that 1 locking stow stays in place until line stretch, you're golden. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  20. This whole thread is a stretch, at best. I mean, seriously, can't you all put aside your petty differences for just one day? Lets rather spend the energy remembering those who've served us so well. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. I just want to point out that there's a big difference between 'being in the corner' and having canopies with long, or short, recovery arcs. People misuse the term all the time. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  22. Unfortunately, yes. We have to barricade our cat box from the dogs. Performance Designs Factory Team
  23. Congrats to Brian McNenny for taking the meet. Slipstream represented well and took the top 3 slots. Nice job guys
