I believe it's important to state: Jump numbers are needed to have good experience, but jump numbers don't mean that you have good experience. In other words, just cause you got the #'s doesn't mean you have the experience. But if you don't have the #'s you definitely don't have the experience. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Vortex II -> pricing and places to buy?
ianmdrennan replied to untoldfox's topic in Gear and Rigging
Louis Tomasso, Awesome service, nice guy. Dealt with him regularly when I owned a vortex II. He's out of the NY area and I've PM'ed the last # I had for him. Edit: I jumped Parachute Systems gear for a long time, and Louis really made owning one a pleasure. He goes to great lengths to keep his customers happy, and shield them from having to deal with Parachute Systems directly. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
James, I'll be out at Skydive The Farm again when I return from Switzerland in a month. Not really sure what you're fishing for here, but you have access to a lot of swoopers at The Farm. Feel free to hit me up, and we can talk about canopy issues (and labels ). Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Now I just gotta find some time to put it all together! Probably won't be anytime soon, but I'll tinker with it and see if the GPS readings are reliable enough to produce something worthwhile. Performance Designs Factory Team

Interesting this has come up. I've been considering writing a Droid application that tracks all these variables (horizontal, vertical, etc) and then displays them in a 'swoop friendly' format on google maps. Performance Designs Factory Team

Yeah, that's just asking for a broken ankle

Drama queen Mods here are, imo, very neutral when moderating. However, that doesn't mean they cannot express an opinion. Of course people are human, and make mistakes or judgement calls. Part of the job. Remember, no-one is moderating WHAT you think, just how it's expressed. Performance Designs Factory Team

See, this is where you're just flat out wrong. By an overwhelming MAJORITY, experts in this field do NOT support your position. It's you who's not quite capable of understanding that. I have absolutely no problem questioning an idea - but when it's proven incorrect, you simply have to abandon the thought process. No amount of "but I feel" changes the fact that it's inaccurate. What's your hard deck?
ianmdrennan replied to skydiverkeith's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In my mind, there's a difference between a min pull altitude and a hard deck. A hard deck, IMO, is when you have no choice but to proceed with EP's. Performance Designs Factory Team -
What's your hard deck?
ianmdrennan replied to skydiverkeith's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Agreed. The one, and only time so far, I've used my 'hard deck' I was *almost there* in dealing with the mal. I remember the temptation was enormous to keep going since it was so close, but that exact mindset has killed far better skydivers than I. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
What's your hard deck?

If it's not controllable, and landable at 1500 it's gone for me. Only ever used that once so far. No RSL. Speed Cypres. Far as when I like my container open. Higher the better -

Wow. Didn't know she sang, so I looked it up. I haven't followed Puscifer and was only familiar with the "Undertaker" from the Underworld soundtrack (great track). Checked this out and I'm digging them, and Milla. Nice. The RE movie still suck something horrible though. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team

Might be able to do some stuff with a GPS and google maps. That said, there's no substitute for good video. Performance Designs Factory Team

2010 USPA CP Nationals results
ianmdrennan replied to AggieDave's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
You kidding me. You see the extreme's I go to, to NOT compete. I mean, who else do you know that would break their ankle 1 week before Nationals so they'd have an 'excuse' Bummed I missed this year, but I'll be back before you know it. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team -
For those interested, and with netflix (available on streaming), I highly recommend this: Deliver Us From Evil Performance Designs Factory Team

Agreed. Although I wouldn't go as far as to say it "supports" pedophilia. I don't believe that to be accurate. However, it knowingly covers it up or tries to hide it to 'save face'. Which is just as unacceptable. Performance Designs Factory Team

Yeah, I've seen that. A truly terrifying documentary on religious brainwashing. Of course, *some* christians here don't believe their faith is capable of distortion - as is the faith of islam - or any faith for that matter. Extremism, of any form, is not a good thing and blinds participants. Back on track of the thread, it's amazing how many people don't have posts of indignation for any corporation head (Enron, BP, etc) who have have scandals within (and assisted in cover up directly, or indirectly) yet when it comes to a religious idol, then all of a sudden that person is not applicable to the same ideals. Normal landing last Sunday. Rolled my ankle unexpectedly right at touchdown. Ankle fracture (3 places) was unstable and needed to be pinned. Also ligament damage and required a 'tightrope' around the ligament. Bye bye nationals 2010..... Performance Designs Factory Team

I've read about this app. Do you use it? Does it really speed up using a touch keyboard? Did it take long to learn and become proficient? I got to use it on a friends Android. It took a few minutes to get used to but after that I couldn't imagine going back to 'regular' texting. Performance Designs Factory Team
