  1. That's because he posted a link to 'edit' his post........ Performance Designs Factory Team
  2. Don't forget to add it to the cp master at the to of this forum. Planing on making one of these just not sure which one yet...... Blues ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. It'd be interesting to compare the same style/positioning of JVX/Velo pics (the shot from behind while carving). hard to tell for sure, but it seems to have a significant amount of tail taper. New toys = sweet
  4. Even more interesting is to overlay this with Regan (arguably the most popular Republican president to date). http://www.gallup.com/poll/124922/Presidential-Approval-Center.aspx edit: click the portrait of an president in the link above to compare. Performance Designs Factory Team
  5. I have, they're on the rise again. http://www.gallup.com/poll/113980/Gallup-Daily-Obama-Job-Approval.aspx Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. Folks, I'm going to stop this thread. It's nothing more than bashing. Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. FYI - this is a common misconception. Body position (small) will always carry more airspeed and hence distance. So, brakes and tucked
  8. I thought it was funny. Granted I'm not sure this is the appropriate forum for that post (general/bonfire is better suited), but I'll let it stand for now. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  9. Thanks for sharing. Note: Possibly edit the videos so we can see the opening, then go to the setup and landing? No need to watch the whole plane ride, and flight down
  10. I totally forgot about his "I'm going to swoop the bushes" declaration before the load. Ahh good times
  11. Not sure how many people remember, or know, this but Gary actually ended up on America's funniest videos a while back. When we were at Boston Providence there was this tall grassy/plant area (about 5-6 ft high) that we would swoop through. One day he was down in it and caught a line, and it looked like the bushes just ate him up a and then spit him out 2 seconds later (tumbling). Muppet stands up, dusts himself up and (in a thick british accent) says "I got caught in the bushes" Funny funny stuff - if anyone has the original clip out there (Buckland?) send it my way. BSBD. 13. Don't confuse high risk with dangerous. I think a shortfalling of the quiz is the words they use - they encourage a defensive posture. You, and I, are high risk pilots. You simply can't NOT be at a high risk when you jump the loadings and canopies we do. Now, does that make us dangerous pilots? Absolutely not. That's what I'm driving at, Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. I disagree with you I scored average risk and I got the lowest score possible with my gear configuration. I would say that hp pilots are high risk considering how nasty things can get when something hours wrong our mistakes are made. Pp Reality is that or risk is elevated when we jump in the manner we do. To think we aren't at risk regardless of skill level is naive. what we do is dangerous. Its also fun as hell and we minimize risks in every possible way, but that doesn't make the risk go away. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  15. Wait a second, are you actually suggesting that educating yourself through college is 'slurping off the governments tit', and against what you stand for?? Genuinely asking if that's what you meant or if I'm misunderstanding you. Performance Designs Factory Team
  16. Regardless of political affiliations, or beliefs, this comment disgusts me. Sad, truly sad, that someone can find joy in the death of a child. Performance Designs Factory Team
  17. Hmmm - So . . . morality is unimportant? Continuing a pattern of illegality is ok - Because you know, who';s going to really care or do anything about it? It will just go away if you ignore it, right? That whooshing sound was the point going over your head. I really don't expect you to 'get' it, Clint. I've already said I disapprove of SR, but I'm not going to turn my back on people who jump at those places. I'm more than content to let the justice system take care of any illegal activities (as they already are). I fail to see how thats 'ignoring it'. I do think though, that 'crying wolf' every time lessens the argument. The community has spoken loudly about SR, and rightly so, but you're all just giving them free press at this stage of your crusade. Me, I'm going to keep hanging out with Skydivers, regardless of where they jump. And, I'm going to keep my Blue Skies subscription. Performance Designs Factory Team
  18. Fair enough, but there is already a few skyride threads feel free to post it there if this isn't about BS mag. I guess so, and the drama queens. That this thread even exists is just so far beyond ridiculous to me that it's staggering. Look, I definitely have issues with SR and it's business practices BUT I also have friends who jump at the DZ(s), for various reasons and I don't hold it against them. At the end of the day, they (the jumpers at the dz) are just skydivers trying to have a good time like the rest of us. Bottom line is that no-one is perfect, or blameless, and if I held some sort of moral grudge against everyone in the world who did something I disagreed with - well, it'd be a lonely place up there on my high horse Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. It's few stickers and a year's subscription to Blue Skies Mag Get over it people. Jeeze Performance Designs Factory Team
  20. You've got to watch it buddy, I'm still waiting for my velo to come back from a reline and the weather sucks, so I'm stuck dreaming of swoops for now! Considering it's been almost 2 months since I last jumped (wtf happened to winter in GA???), I'm right there dreaming of swoops too. I'm making a trip to FL since I can't get any decent weather action here..... Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. Not necessarily. Longer arc means more time to look at the 'picture' BUT it also means more speed AND longer to level out if you're low. So, if you don't identify it early enough (which is what most pilots do), you'll hit harder. I'm not saying either are better, or worse, just that they have different pro's/cons. Ultimately, it's best to learn under an appropriately sized wing and take incremental steps so you can build the right pictures. edit: Ninja'ed by Dave
  22. Did you even read past the first sentence? Performance Designs Factory Team
  23. Nice to see a bunch of skydivers attempting to bully a small magazine into their own personal agenda's . It's certainly within your rights as a paying customer, as petty as it may be. That said, I find it even MORE telling of the posters that they haven't even waited for BS mag to respond to this thread (and the owners of the mag have ALWAYS posted here and been available). Finally, I really don't CARE if they're doing a BOOGIE somewhere for JUMPERS, long as it's run safely and is FUN. Seriously people......sheesh. BS will continue to get my support, and hell, I feel like getting another few subscriptions for the hell if it. I like the style of the mag, and it's something I'd love to see continue. 24. Whatever one the pilot likes the best after demo'ing them all
  25. Mel, You misunderstand my post. 1) I'm addressing your totally inaccurate statement about the Crossfire and Katana being the same canopies except trim. They're in the same CLASS, but they're not the same canopy. Yes, I'm sure they have similarities - which is what I was trying to point out in my response to you. Regardless, this new canopy (I would expect) to be a step up from those two anyway. 2)"just adding" a slink or tinkering with line trims is risky business - and it's not just as simple as you make it out to be without introducing other side effects. Try to remember that people read these forums and will go out and try this stuff so try to be cautious when making those kinds of statements. 3) If you want to keep this side discussion going, feel free to PM me. There's no need to clutter this thread with this stuff. It detracts from the original intent to provide good, solid information on this new canopy. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
