  1. That's as ridiculous as saying "The JVX is just a velo with more cells" They're totally different designs! Anyway, I'm stoked to hear such positive things about the JFX (I heard rumblings earlier in the year it was a good canopy). More competition drives us all forward - so, onward and upward! 2. Good point, although it's worth noting that the 'z' approach is avoided in all but the most extreme upper conditions. I've used it before, will use it again, but it requires some SERIOUS uppers before I consider pulling it out of the bag of tricks. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  3. Yes. While wind direction will define the various legs in relation to one another (ie stretched out, or shrunk down) it should still be flown relative to landing direction (IMO). Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  4. Turn should be 'push button' - so, if you're changing your turn you need to be practicing (altitude permitting) the same turn over and over regardless of conditions. Put yourself in a place where you can safely do so, get references, see how it pans out, and then fix your pattern appropriately. Try to change 1 thing at a time in your setup. So, for example, first get the muscle memory, then work on the lateral accuracy (ie you're in line with the gate, but over/undershoot), then add in the last component. In the end, it's all practice, comfort, and trust in your preparation (even if the accuracy visuals are unusual due to conditions) The entire issue, as is usually the case, seems to be stemming from your pattern. You *should* have a student pattern if you've planned accurately. While the distance *over the ground* will be different in different conditions, the TIME spent on each leg should be the same if you have your pattern solid. 5. Pro's fly 'standard' comp courses and rules. Am's fly 10 feet gates, and have a slight rule difference for ZA (they don't have to drag water, but DO have to be below the 5 ft gates to get the gate scores). The FLCPA is an amazing high quality league, you'll get access to a lot of great pilots, good times (and good natured ribbing), and good practice. Contact Al Berchtold at PD for more details if you need em. I won't be at the first meet, but hope to see you at one of the others. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  6. It's weird though, I've never been able to get to that page - even from home. Oh well, Im sure people will post the info when it's released. Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  7. No, I just get a google page not found error..... Performance Designs Factory Team
  8. I can't seem to get to the main page (or link provided) for NZ aerosports New shiny toy's are always exciting
  9. No, he is not jumping. I did see him at The Last Big Splash in 2009 though, but he was just shooting ground video. Performance Designs Factory Team
  10. Yeah, I've been using my Droid-x for about a month now and LOVE it. Swype is great, the phone is responsive, etc. Only 2 complaints: 1) I can't uninstall some apps (FU Blockbuster and City ID) thanks to Motorola's implementation 2) Battery life is pretty crappy (1 day or so) but then again it's a monstrously big screen. 11. Unfortunately since you cannot receive PM's you'll have to read this when you get back from your 10 day ban. Everyone else, I was serious about trolling posts. I WILL ban you. I'm tired of this bickering. Performance Designs Factory Team
  12. This is the last time I'm going to say this: Stop. If posters try to start a flame war with 'smart alec' replies for the sole purpose of getting an emotional response, I'm just going to ban you. Period. Performance Designs Factory Team
  13. Looking to come out and do a local comp or two for fun. Anything happening on the West coast this coming year? Only requirements are a pond, and following current Competition rules (weights, courses, etc). Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  14. Cut it out, both of you. Pete, stop trolling. Performance Designs Factory Team

  17. Ok, it's time to unstick this thread, and time to put up a new one. 18. Tommy Dellibac, from the PD Factory Team, is running a course in Deland Dec 4th. Performance Designs Factory Team
  19. Loved the movie, and spirit. Thought the editing was a little hokey and 'MTV like' though. Sometimes to the point of distraction. Still one of my favs though, flaws and all. Performance Designs Factory Team
  20. If you get a chance, stop by my old home DZ in Grahamstown, Eastern Cape. EP Skydivers. Have fun, and talk to the names mentioned above - above all, take it easy on the first few jumps. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
  21. Posters, The OP wasn't asking if the Stiletto was a 'good modern day swooping canopy'. In fact, they made ZERO reference to swooping. Not every canopy pilot wants to swoop, and not every post here is a swooping post. If you want to discuss the ST as a swooping canopy, there are other threads on that topic. Stick to the topic of this thread. Performance Designs Factory Team
  22. An inaccurate, and ignorant statement. There are an amazing amount of Stiletto pilots out there. It's a good canopy (not to my personal taste though) but it does it's job remarkably well. Again, it's all about what the pilot is looking for. Performance Designs Factory Team
  23. Definitely not obsolete at all. It's all about personal preference. If it makes you happy, and meets your needs then have fun with it. Blues, Ian Performance Designs Factory Team
