Favorite way to break up with someone?
skydiver604 replied to npgraphicdesign's topic in The Bonfire
This might help, of course you'll need to sub 2 girls in for the 2 guys, but you'll get the picture, as for the op's original poll, I don't know, I mean I've never had to break up with someone, they kick me to the curb first http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7NOQ3-TCb8 "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo -

That's funny,,,,,fucking hell,,,,,I worked for a local onion farmer in Ontario for a few months,,,,he has no choice but to bring in migrant workers to work the fields to ensure the crop is cared for and harvested, he can't find "locals" to do the job, even offering 3 to 4 bucks an hour more than minimum wage he can't get "locals" to work. apparently the work is too hard and the hours too long yep, that's why the minimum wage has to be increased by more than 3 or 4 bucks... (but you're getting the idea now) at that point farmer's operating costs exceed profits,,,,ohhh I get it now,,,sounds a lot like communism and socialism,,,and we know how that turned out "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo

for the 1% (who crashed the economy) we were their insurance policy... How about the 75 percent who crashed the economy. You know, people who took out bigger mortgages than they can afford? Did the economy really start tanking when people STOPPED paying their mortgages? Sure, the bankers were complicit. As were the policymakers, politicians, etc. Quit pointing your finger at a chosen villain and take an objective look. I point the finger at myself, too. BINGO!!!! You've nailed the whole mess right here,,,the alleged 1% is a small part of the overall root cause, I too can also point the finger at myself. Alot more stress in this world today, social stress, work stress, financial stress, very difficult for kids to choose a career path that will get them a job, let alone a good paying job, social stress of teens , social media, facebook ,,,, a lot more stress in the world means a lot more triggers for people to react toi,,,,lets not forget also people don't eat healthy, we feed ourselves and our kids processed fast foods that are full of chemicals and little nutritional value,,,,,both parents need to work these days to make ends meet, and of course that's even if both parents are even still together, less parenting time to kids,,,,no surprise the world is as fucked up as it is today "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo

Training conversion from standard to SOS system?
skydiver604 replied to nigel99's topic in Safety and Training
So I had a dyslexic moment this morning, obviously did not have the caffeine levels high enough to read things correctly. I thought the op was asking about SOS to 2 handle cutaway process. Sorry for any confusion "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo -
Training conversion from standard to SOS system?
skydiver604 replied to nigel99's topic in Safety and Training
The dz I trained at used SOS rigs for students, once you got licensed there was a BOC Conversion course you hads to take. If my memory serves me right there was intensive review of malfuctions and cutaway procedures, practice with the mock up BOC Harness which meant practicing throwing the pilot chute and practicing cutaway procedures with dummy cutaway and reserve handles with the instructor shouting out different malfunctions. Then 3 coach jumps where on each jump you had to get stable, then while maintaining stability check reserve and cutaway handles, then touch the hackey (minimum of 3x per jump) and at the same time demonstrate circle of awareness and altitude awareness. Once you successfully passed the 3 coach jumps and the verbal malfunction quiz you were cleared for BOC. -
Post all the 1% vs 99% bullshit you want, point the fingers of blame all you want, argue your points and beliefs all you want,,,,the truth of the matter is the European economy, American economy and the Canadian Economy and the Global economy for that matter is in the shitter,,,and until all the politicians of each party in each country quit bickering like children in a sandbox and work together ( i don't see that happening anytime soon) to fix this mess thats been created since the Great Depression SFA is going to change. If anything it's gonna get worse. "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo

Use to fly gliders with air cadets, then flew small aircraft for fun, always swore up and down that I would never try skydiving (too scared),,, then a few years ago a friend of mine sent me a video of a wingsuit base jump with red hot chili peppers playing airplane as the music, thought that's really cool, did some research and found out learning to skydive was a BIG prerequesite to wingsuit flying, figured what the hell, if anything I can face the fear,,,,,got hooked on it and continued in the sport,,,,,bazinga!! Funny you should bring this up. This article appeared in the Toronto Sun recently. http://www.torontosun.com/2011/11/08/vogue-covers-failing-black-people-thandie-newton Thandie Newton has slammed bosses at Vogue magazine for failing to support diversity by shunning black celebrities on the cover. The actress has long graced the cover of a number of popular fashion magazines but Newton admits she has failed to catch the attention of editors at Vogue, insisting the publication is doing a disservice by neglecting to celebrate stars of African heritage. She tells Britain's Pride magazine, "Don't get me started on black people being on the cover of big magazines. It's so preposterous. I mean, I've been on the cover of Harper's Bazaar four times; I've been on the cover of InStyle four times, but Vogue, not once. "Literally, people have said to me, 'What have you got against Vogue that you don't want to be on their cover?' And I just laugh. "They (Vogue) don't feel the need to represent because it doesn't make any sense to them. It's just baffling to me, but, as usual, America will dictate the ways things go and a magazine like Vogue will just follow America, but it's like, 'Don't you want to trail blaze?'" Go to your local hardware store and buy comfortable coveralls, at least you won't worry about grass / mud stains should you have some not so graceful landings, the dz I did my progression at had an orange jumpsuit with Department of Corrections on the back, entertaining to say the least.. You'll want to purchase a jumpsuit that matches the new gear you're gonna buy, after all, gotta look good at the DZ "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo
