Water Repellent Automotive Glass Treatment
skydiver604 replied to skydiver604's topic in The Bonfire
I use PPG Aquapel on the windshield and door glass on our vehicles. Lasts about 6 months on the windshield and almost a year on the door glass. I find it makes a huge difference driving in the rain at night. Just wondering what others are using??. Thanks,,still need to get it detailed and cleaned up,,,after the accident we decided to stay with the bigger cars. I'm still trying to convince my dad to sell me his 62 Studebaker Golden Hawk,,,,,not much luck on that front,,, "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo

Special???? Oh hell no, I have a step daughter that gave us more or less the same issues, got really scary at one point when at 15 she started to get close to a so called family friend,,,we put a stop to that immediately,,,i still have the louisville slugger with his name written on it with black magic marker and I'm sure if I dig around one of the junk boxes in storage I could find the pieces of her cell phone that magically disintegrated after catching her at the tail end of a 3 hour conversation with this douchebag at 4:30 in the morning. Funny thing, she's now 18, living on her own ( couldn't wait to get her independence) she's working and had a huge shock at what shit actually costs,,,laundry, food, transportation, cell phone bill,,clothes toiletries etc stuff she took for granted is now on her dime,,,I must say tho,,she sure has grown up a lot in the last 2 months. Thank You all for your good wishes, just got finished at the doctors, she's got minor whiplash and starined muscles, doc report has been sent to insurance, just going to monitor how she is for the next week or so, so far so good yeah that was on Hwy 11 North, just down the highway from Heidi's Trailer Sales, can be pretty treacherous in that area. Again thank you everyone for your support Chris and Linda. "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo

My wife got into a whiteout condition today on a busy highway north of Toronto.. Got rear ended not by one car but by 2 cars. Surprisingly she walked away with minor aches and pains. The car did not fare as well. Fortunately GM makes a pretty tough car. 2002 Chev Malibu. That's actually pretty common, if the companies aren't moving operations south of the border they're going to Mexico and China. Happened here in Ontario in Sept 2007. The company I worked for (originally Canadian) was purchased by an American company, who closed our plant down and moved production to the parent company in Michigan, then at a later date moved more operations to Mexico, Just a sign of the times. No: Kids require a lifetime commitment that does not end just because they turn 21 and leave the house and go out on their own.If someone is not prepared to commit the rest of their life to their kids then don't bother. Moving off student gear this weekend!
skydiver604 replied to JMS8800's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Implying student/rental gear are the same rigs The DZ I did my SL Progression at the student gear is also the rental gear. At the time I weighed about 210-215 pounds. My progression consisted of: Man of War 320 (static jumps) PD 300 (freefall) 290 Manta or PD 292 (Freefall) 260 Navigator (after Solo Cert) 230 Silhouette (current gear I'm jumping) I found this to be a fairly comfortable progression. Edited to add At that time the smallest student / rental gear they had was the 260 Navigator. Not sure if they have added to it since. (I changed dropzones in July 2009.) sorry for the late response, I was at the DZ Society in general says it is acceptable for a woman to hit a man(that doesn't make it right), it's unacceptable for a man to hit a woman. This issue (to me) goes deeper than a simple question,,, why is this?? 30 years ago when I was in high school the cops were there maybe 2-3 times a year, disputes and scores were settled one on one with fists and bootheels and the only guns out there was at the gun range and out during hunting season, back then that was acceptable to society,,,, today it seems to be acceptable to society to have full time police officers in high schools every day to curb youth violence,,, disputes and scores are settled 2,3,,4 on 1 with guns and knives and and the level of gun violence (in Canada ) has peaked. My point is that over time what society deems as acceptable and unacceptable behavior has caused an increase in crime and violence on our streets and has a negative impact and negative consequences as a whole. Every time society transitions unacceptable behavior to being acceptable the consequences are felt by everyone. So how does society bring equality to this topic?? Does society make it acceptable then for a man to hit a woman just like it is acceptable for a woman to hit a man, or do we make it unacceptable for a woman to hit a man and level the playing field.?? Sexual violence whether perpetrated by a man or a woman is still violence,,,,,some men may find it cool to be sexually assaulted by a woman, the coolness would certainly change to outrage if the woman should happen to be HIV +, have a superbug STD that's resillient to modern antibiotics or active herpes virus and the male victim is infected by one or more of these. Just my thoughts, I may be completely off base in left field or my ramblings may make some sense. Lets say that society did make it acceptable to hit a woman for talking smack(fortunately it's not acceptable). Once it did become acceptable then what's the next step?? Does society then push for the acceptance of sexually assaulting a woman?? Does society then make it acceptable for a man to demand / take sex from his wfe even it is against her will?? I believe the current Afghan Government implemented a law that made this behavior acceptable and has received a lot of flack from the international community over it. The irony is that Canadian and American soldiers have died in Afghanistan to protect human rights, yet the Afghan government created a law that makes violence against women acceptable. Sorry , unless circumstances dictate as Andrew noted in a earlier post violence against women is NOT acceptable and it is up to all men and women to stand up and say this is not right. In addition violence against any man woman or child is not right. let me reword that, I can comfortably fly the canopy without being afraid the canopy is beyond current my current skill level. If that makes sense. Edited to add, its not like the canopy is a stilleto or a heatwave or any other HP canopy that I know will burn my butt due to my lack of experience and yeah I'm actually really careful in this sport "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo

i jump a Sil 230, it had 50 jumps in it when I bought it, easy to pack, forgiving and stable for when i screw something up, flaring and landing as was pointed out in an earlier posting is a little more critical,. but I am getting really nice landings even in no wind. Its fast enough and responsive enough for me, my exit weight is about 235 pounds,,, Honestly I am very comfortable flying this canopy, I don't feel the need to be extra careful, I can concentrate on the jump and continue learning canopy skills. I can't see myself using another canopy for at least another 2-3 years. I'd recommend it as a beginner canopy to any new jumper. see an ear specialist, might need a good cleaning to allow the fluid to drain. I had the same problem when i was flying, a good cleaning does wonders. "The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it." - Michelangelo
