  1. what's up so, there i was, riding on the front of the gator (big golf cart thing) i was hanging on the front rack thing, trying to do 2 things at once. hold my drink, and hang on. well, i didn't do either. we just where turning around a corner, only holding on with one hand (i had my drink in the other) and slowed down at the same time, i kinda went forward (so know i'm hanging, instead of leaning on the hood) and my hand slipped. fell down, and it hit me, never actually went all the way over me, but was on top of my knee sliding (we weren't going very fast at all, even though at that time i sure thought we were hallin ass, but i was out of it). so know, i have a gash taken out of my leg (to too bad) and a scrape on my elbow and knee. and my knee hurts like hell. oh ya, and i hit my head, and still have a knot. but other than that no broken bones.
  2. come to the big white tent (it's the richmond tent). you'll see it, it's the same size as the manafest tent, parallel to it, on the other side of the landing area. if i'm around, i may be able to find someone leaving monday morning. if i'm not there, i'll be packing at the end of the manafest tent. or jumping. later
  3. your right, the talon fs, and voodoo now have that option. it isn't cut in near as much as the other rigs, but it still is. and again, both of thoses rigs you would be very happy with. later
  4. that really depends on you. how bad do you really want an odyssey. there are lots of rigs out there, that are just as good as rigs (mirage, V3, wings, infinity just to name a few). if you like the pop top style exposed rigs, then i would go with a wings. i believe the current delievery time is like 6 weeks. or if you like the mirage, i heard they have pretty quick delivery times right now (like 4 to 6 weeks, but i could be wong). V3's, i'm not sure what the deliever time on those are, and the same with the infinity. but any of the rigs i named you would be very happy with. and the mirage (if you get a G4.1) and wings have the option of a cut in laterals like the odyssey. i'm not going to push you one way or another, you need to get what you want. i'm just putting some rigs out there that would be good rigs, and there are more out there that i have left out for no reason other than i don't feel like typing any more later
  5. so, uh, i guess you guys aren't coming to the boogie well, have fun out there. and in your down time jumpin, you won't mind if i send ya my school work to do right? later
  6. ya, i saw that at the WFFC. it's kinda funny, if you ever came up to richmond and started working, you would already have the staff colors. we have the option of staff shorts or staff pants (freefly pants). i went for the shorts. later
  7. it's this pic http://www.printroom.com/ViewGalleryPhoto.asp?userid=lowhook&gallery_id=22350&image_id=20 later
  8. what's up for those of you that have your new parachutist (setember), check out the photo finish. and you will see your's truely on the page. lonnie kirk took the pic, and i guess he sent it in. i didn't even know about it. later
  9. really, this is a new one to me, and since my dad had one of the first 200 v3's, i think he would of heard about this little problem. i have made all the bold/italicized print here to let everyone know what i'm talking about unpublicizied, huh, well i would think something like that would be a big deal, and every rigger would need to know something about that. italicized part: wrong, look at a current v3 manual, it doesn't anything about tucking the matterial under the spring. like ray said, your rigger may do this, but just becuase he does, doesn't mean that it's the "right" way. if i sound like a dick, i'm sorry, i don't mean to be. i'm just trying to inform. ray: what differnce does it may if he "only has 341 jumps?" i can tell you none. he may have 20 years in the sport, just doesn't jump that much. it is unfair to judge someone due to jump numbers. edit: look here http://relativeworkshop.com/pdf_files/09354.pdf on page 29 of the most current v3 manual, it shows you how to pack the pilot chute. later later
  10. hey, when mom and dad used to own the dz, you got the "perks" i gues you could say later
  11. what, no one else is coming?? come on, there has to be more. later
  12. i have had many new rigs (i started jumping on my own when i was 11 so i grew out of a few) and i haven't ever had one be unconfortalbe. stiff, yes, but still confortable. i would call mirage, and tell them. more than likely they will have you get re-measured, and then they will check with what they have, if it's off, then they'll have you send the rig back, and they should fix it for free. later
  13. well, look at reflex reserve pilot chute(s if you have the catipult). they're zp. other than that rig, i haven't ever seen any others that i can think of off the top of my head. and like it has been stated above, F-111 will "stretch" if it gets a hole in it, where as zp will tear utill it hits a seam. it takes more to rip/blow out zp but once it does, it's gone. later
  14. well, that seams like the best way to fix it but anyway, i can't think of any reason why it would do this. has you rigger checked the spring for any nicks or anthing like that (it's possible that both of the pilot chutes had them). but like you said there was no fraying, so i dought this is it. other than that, i can't think of a damn thing. have you tried calling the people who make the replacement parts (because isn't stunts out of buissness or something?). you could see if they have heard of anything like this, and may have a way to fix it. has any of the riggers at ASC ever seen this before?? has any riggers on here ever seen anything like this before?? i know i haven't. later
  15. so, who's coming to richmond this year? i'll be there every day (i work at the dz, so i'd hope so ) i know freeflyswc, rocketdog (i think that's hollywoods name on here) jaybird, yoshi, and some more but i can't think of them right now. later
  16. you didn't have it under the mirage tent when they where taking it down did you?? i didn't see one laying around, but i'm not really that obserbent so it could of been. later
  17. derek just kinda wondering, have you ever seen it cause line twist?? i have been packing icarus and strong tandems (you also have to rubber band the brake lines) for lone time and have never seen this happen, but maybe we're just lucky. i do see where you coming from though. i don't personally rubber band them that tight (just a double stow, which is still some what "loose") later
  18. i don't know of any "Manufacturuers recomended way" other than what they say, psycho pack. i pro pack them, but i rubber band the brake lines to the C lines. you really don't need to pull the tail that far around, i only pull a little bit past the 2 seams that line up when rolling it. i have A LOT of packjobs doing this, and hasn't failed me once (looking for some wood, there it is knock knock knock). i was also packing the icarus tandem for a while without doing anything to the brake lines, just letting them hang, and was very careful about what i did with them. another thing you can do, which i'm not sure if you do, after rubber banding the brake lines, take them and tuck them into the center, kind "around" the D lines. that's how i pack everthing. hope that helps some later
  19. i don't think there is any "set" length for swooping that i have ever heard of. i have seen many of the "pro's" on tour that have the standard lenght (21" or 22"), but i have also seen a lot of short risers (like 17"). so i really don't think it makes a big difference. i have jumped short, and long. i like the long personally, but it's not for a longer swoop, just it felt more comfortable. may be skymonkeyone will get on here and we'll see what his opinion is on this. later
  20. are you talking about that little grey one they had. or the black and red one. either one was freakin tiny. i was going to jump the grey one with a 113 reserve and that 75 firebolt (i think that's the new canopy), but i didn't have time to run over there to grab it. later
  21. out of those three i have only jumped one, the cobalt. i have seen the diablo flown, and wasn't too impressed. the nitron seamed like a nice canopy, just a short recovery arc, but still a nice swoop and good bottom end. the cobalt, i wasn't impressed at all. bad openings, and the performance wasn't all that impressive (or at least what it's made out to be) i like the crossfire 2. it is a step above these canopies (the nitron is kinda in that class i guess), and it just rocks. nice openings, good recovery arc, long surfs, and great bottom end. that's just my opinion of the canopies. again, demo them all and find what you like the best, it is different for everyone. later
  22. i have mine set for when i need to break off, pull, or get something out (that being 5k, 3k, and 1.5k). i am usally "waiting" to hear the first one. i usally hear the second one as the canopy opens and don't hear the third one until i do my hook
  23. http://www.performancedesigns.com/pdzone/photoView.asp?team=flight1&category=swoop&offset=36&id=282 here's a pic of one of the pd guys with the mod. you can see the line coming off the cascades of the brake line (it has a lot of slack in it).
  24. there's a guy at my dz that does just becuase he wants to be different. later
