i would have to say my 1000 logged a couple weeks ago. it was just a lot of fun. a track dive, i led. just seeing all my friends right there with me, trying to get away so they couldn't take me out. well, that plan went to hell, when jason docked on me, and forgot to keep traking . oh well, it was a blast. and then under canopy, i was thinking: should i cut away just for shits and grins, or do a phat hook and swoop the hanger??? well, i decided that it wasn't worth the repack, so i did my hook, and swooped the hanger. and the best part, i left my dad in my dust, but of course he says he was there, but i saw no sign of him. later

What is the difference between a JAVELIN "NJ" or "NJK" ?
skygod7777 replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in Gear and Rigging
my buddy had the same question when he was going to order a NJ. apperently, they have made the NJk's reserve tray a little smaller, and it won't holdl a 126 anymore. so he had to get a TJN, which is actually a little "lose". i would like to get my hands on a NJk and see how a pdr 126 goes in. again, call sunpath, i think they'll know the best. later -
i'm pretty sure they are grounded, but i could be proven wrong. apperntally they fly fine if you load em up at about 2.0 or 2.3. but that's just what i've heard from people who have jumped them. later

heres one with a voodoo harness. http://rigginginnovations.com/voodoo/images/05.gif later

i personally get a little head high, reach bag, grap, and pull down in a "U" back up by my head i guess. it gets pulled out of my hand about mid way through or so. everyone once in a while, i'll let it go too early, and get some hesitation, but if that happens, i drop my knees a bit, and it comes right off. another benfit of getting head high (the first helping get the pilot chute off my back if it comes back down) is you have a little less snatch force i guess you would say, less opening shock. later

hey danny, you didn't happen to find those sunglasses in the gear room did ya. later

get the rig man. the tunnel camp will help a lot, but what good would it really do if you don't have a rig to go use those newly aquired skills? later
-
yes it is. but i was just kinda putting it out there for when you downsize, if you ever do. later

ya it's safe. i do it all the time. it's a really good way to learn your canopy. you can fly it in deep brakes, learn front and rear risers. it's even more fun wehn you have really big clouds all around, and you can fly through the caverns and stuff like that. i like getting out with 2 or 3 other people, and flying around each other. later

well, i guess this just gives me a reason to come visit texas this winter, because someone forgot to pay the packer for his wifes tandem . so i guess i'll just have to come down and kung fu you like you did dean during the boogie. well, i'm sure you'll have fun, but you should of been around for this weekend, vern made his 1,000. big crazy 5 way, it was fun (there was only 3 of us there, me, him, and jonny. hollywood and fritz couldn't keep up i think, they took too much time getting out) later

well, you are a blonde later

ya, my knee is all hurtin now. oh well. it was fun. i got the scrape on my leg, but it's not too bad anymore. i got some bacterbane (some prescription stuff) and put it on, and it's getting better. i'm still going to run over jonny, i'm going to get em. well, like i said, i had a blast, and am just countin the days until next year. later

why??? i could add a extention very easily to a strong set 400. the attachment is no differnt than a pd canopy (just material, instead of a mettle ring like icarus), you would just put the extention around, and then sew it on. and why couldn't you pack it without one?? you can just pull the top skin out to one side or the other, and roll it up. no big deal at all. psyco packing is no big deal at all. i can't tell a difference in the openings at all, when i jumped a heatwave, or now that i have a vx. they all seam the same to me. i have packed a icarus tandem psyco packed, the tandem master said he wanted it done that way, so i did. i'm not sure why he did, but i just did what he asked, and hoped for the best (considering the brake lines being infront of the nose) later

well, i can tell you that if my container opens, that is what holds my pud in. on the lip of the container, and i believe the mirage is this way too. and i really don't think that velcro would hold a canopy from inflating. and something like this, you could still reach back and pull. where as the BOC, unless you pack your pilot chute they way brian germain shows, then it will ball up and you won't be able to pull it out (maybe and that's a big maybe if you have a spandex pouch). later

Which gets the better Swoop?
skygod7777 replied to Freakflyer804's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
any of these canopies will swoop really well in the right hands. it all depends on what you like. the nitron and stilleto have shorter recovery arc, while the crossfire has a much longer one. i have no experience under a nitron, but i do under a crossfire (200 or so jumps) and stilleto (not much, like 50 or so jumps). i personally like the crossfire better. reasons for liking the crossfire, i got consistant openings on it, unlike the stilleto. the crossfire had a deeper toggle stroke, which i like, where as the stilleto was quite short. and for me, the crossfire would swoop much further. any of the canopes you have listed, will swoop and will swoop well if you fly them right. later -
hahaha, man that was fun. but you missed out on the creeper towing up and down the taxi way. that was exciting too. we only went through 2 creepers. and you little bumps and scratches, at least you didn't get run over by a gator. and like i said in my other post, i had a blast at the boogie this year, even though i only made 1 jump, it was still fun. later

your right, i was wrong saying you "can't" have a horse shoe, but it would be a hell of a lot harder. the only way i could think of it would be if it was tied of to something, or you pull unstable and it gets wraped around your leg (which this would still happen if you had BOC). later

How woould you group the various canopies in the market.
skygod7777 replied to rendezvous's topic in Gear and Rigging
student: skymaster, manta, radier, navagater (210 +) intermidiate: sabre 2, sabre, safire, safire 2, omni, omega, hornet, spectre, lotus...... advanced: stilleto, crossfire 1 + 2, heatwave, nitron, vengence, samari.......... high advance (or expert, but i don't call it that, 'cause i'm defintally not one): fx, vx, xaos 21 and 27, velocity (anything crossedbraced) now, what you have to realize also, some of these "intermediate" canopies will become advanced canopies when you load them up, they in fact become quite fun canopies (some of them). same with the advanced, if you load up a crossfire 2 at 1.8 or 1.9, they are pretty high end canopies, same with any of them out there. hope that helps some later -
like i said above, the floating pud isn't that big of a deal. more confusing packjob, i guess it could be, but if you hadn't been taught how to pack a boc, wouldn't it be confusing?? velcro, well i don't have any on my rig (wings). i believe the mirage's don't either. javelin still does. i believe the infinity does also. i'm not sure which other manufacturers do, but it isn't a very big deal anyway. it's just a very small piece, that is covered by a piece of material anyway, do it can't hurt anything. i'm not bashing you at all, and if i seam like i am, sorry. i'm just informing, and trying to push pull-out
-
not really, i have had a couple (bumped on exit) and had no problem at all reaching back and finding it. now, i jump a small rig, but even on a big rig, it shouldn't be a problem. and to go along with the post: i love my pull-out. it just makes more sense to me, you can't have a horse shoe, and those scare the ever lovin shit out of me (my dad went in, and lived, from one). you don't really have to worry about a pilot chute in tow, and if your low, you know you'll have something above your head . the only thing i don't like about it is, well, nothing really other than some manufacturers don't care for them, they make so many of the BOC's, and just don't get too many orders for pull-out. i think everyone should try it, just to see if they like it, or hate it. i know a lot of people that talk about them, but have never even tried it. later

so, uh, what's wrong with the wing tips??? later
