skygod7777 replied to garyharbird's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
what ever, 58 or 53, still damn small, and not too many people jumpin that size -
What do your parents think of your skydiving?

Small Canopies and cypres's???
skygod7777 replied to garyharbird's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
chris what was charlie loading that 58 at? i'm sure it was high, but i was just wondering. and isn't micheal stevens jumping a 58 xaos 21 now? he's a little guy, but i'm sure his wing loading is still up there a bit. later -
the mod fixed the problem on opening, but the flight performance of a dash m aren't very good (at least on 150 and down). they have a very short toggle stroke (like it stalls about mid chest or higher). later

i pack my main in 5 min. i can through it in quicker (about 3 1/2) but i like my consistant 5 min. i somtimes will take a bit longer, if i'm talking while packing, but on average 5 min. tandems, average about 10 to 12 min. i can pack em in 7 1/2 (brakes set, and droge not twisted much, strongs) later

if i use a packer, i'll tip em. i like it when people tip me, and i know how hard i work all day (packing for others). but, as far as if someone tips me for a packjob, that doesn't mean they come first. everyone gets the same packjob, in what ever order they set the rig down. later

call up precision, and get a demo. first try the 98 then the 88. see which one you like best. but you can't compare those 2 canopys, they are 2 different animals. later

what are you wing loading it at? later

Did you take a canopy control class?
skygod7777 replied to Michele's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i remember reading your post about going to zhills, and saying you met jonny. i assume you mean jonny stuart (packer, great canopy pilot, good freeflier). talk to him if you need some help, i'm sure he'll give you some pointers, and all that good stuff. and more than likely, he'll do it for a little bit of nothing (maybe a beer at night, or just do it for free to help out -
i jumped my buddy's vengence 97 for a while (about 100 jumps or so). it was a nice canopy, it opened nice, and flew nice. but it doesn't compare to the crossfire 2 at all. the swoops are decent, but it's really nothing more than a stilleto with airlocks (a little difference, but not much). the openings are kinda dancey, but so are the crossfires. if you had to choose between those 2 canopy's, i would recomend the crossfire 2. (i've put only 50 or so jumps on a crossfire 2's, a 89 and a 105) later

if it continues to do this, i'd send it back to l+b. i'm sure they'll fix it. later

well, that's what we talked about. we weren't sure if you would want to or not. and i didn't even think about you leaving for texas at the end of the season. later

that sucks, but kinda funny, you can start messing with them. make them think your lying too. i went to this gas station, and the lady just kinda asked us (me and my friend jonny) where we were headed, and we said we were on our way to rantoul for the convintion (and we were(and we said it was skyding already)). and the lady said, really, i skydive. jonny *with 3000 jumps* was like, cool how many do you have. the lady said she had like 500 jumps or something, and then asked us. i said about the same, and jonny said he had 3, tandems. it was funny, we just went on with it for about 15 min. until we had to leave. just something to do, turn around their lie on them. and you may think, well kelly how did you know, i asked her where she jumped, and she made up a place, and then didn't know what kind of gear she had. later

we'll see. me and vern are thinking about getting a team together, and i think we may start practicing. we're not sure who the third will be. so he may want to just jump all day, but i'm sure we'll get on the track dive. it will have to be a bigger one though. later

somewhere around the same. i'm thinking 110 exactly. maybe the first half a bit slower, but i'm not sure. i know some can't quite stay with that at the dz, but it seams like most of us can. maybe just have to speed em up a bit when vern is on, j/k. me and vern got down to 92, not bad for a couple of fat kids edit: it's not your fault, he skipped out early, you where still alseep i think. but i'll tell em tonight. later

well, admitting jonny has a lot more skydive than you, he was getting down to like 100 on his track dives. later

Reserves, Gear and Pond swooping
skygod7777 replied to ianmdrennan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
i would assume so, i see people do it all the time. i have jumped my main wet, and have had no problems. i don't think this situation has ever come up (test a reserve while wet). maybe it should be something that could/should be done. later -
i personally like more of a square pond. like at rantoul. 200 x 200 x 3(or 4). i think 20' may be a bit skinny. you can get into it fine, but it doesn't leave very much room for error. zhill's pond it 185 x 40, it's nice. later

Reserves, Gear and Pond swooping
skygod7777 replied to ianmdrennan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
wow, um, i really don't know about that one. i have been wet before, and i just jumped till the end of the day, then pulled my reserve out. not too sure if it would be the best idea to go 2 days, but it may be ok. my advice would be, just don't get wet the first day -
Reserves, Gear and Pond swooping
skygod7777 replied to ianmdrennan's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
water will do nothing to your reserve as long as (say if you got wet), after your done with competition, you take it apart, and dry it out. it will do nothing to effect it. i know many people who have rigs that have been soaked many times, and there is not a thing wrong with their -
where are you grabbing the riser?? i had this problem the first time i tried, and it was because i was grabbing too far down the riser. if you grab as far up as you can, like above the guide ring, it kinda gives ya something to grip onto it seams like. later

2 in 1100 jumps later

that's a givin, you can't forget that. and i'll second the first part of the post, everone be safe, and remember, if your goin be stupid, you better be tough. later

85 vx @ 2.3 or 2.4 wing loading. i would say ~ 700 or so (maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less). i don't use an altimeter to do it, i just do it when it looks right, and i'm guessing about that. and that is kinda of a hook/carve (not a snap, but i am flat with the canopy). i use both risers in this (i grap both, pull em down a bit, the bull one side down a bit more to get the amount of turn i want, and let both up, easily). i don't have to"digg" out of the corrner with the altitude i do it at. later

nice. hahaha. that's great. later
