All of the above suggests that Cooper had some experience with or knowledge of the SE Asia 727 operations. As I have stated a number of times before, Cooper was probably a former US Government employee (whether military or civilian) or had worked for a US Government contractor. Robert99 I would add the tie data in ... One remaining issue is the reliability of Palmer's strata analysis ... and no solid erosion data for Tina Bar from 71 to Feb 1980.

I wonder if Himmelsbach has any proof of that whatsoever. I have flown in and around the Hillsborough/Vancouver/Scappoose area in some nasty nasty scary soup. Flying in and out of Scappoose we could still see the lights of the surrounding towns like Woodland or St Helens or Vancouver thru the clouds and rain. Thats the same experience of pilots I have talked to up there, also - Plus we now have a rather detailed workup on the weather through the week of the 24th and five days out almost hourly... 1971 as it applied to the whole corridor of v23, which corroborates yours and other pilots advice on this matter. Plus we have pilots who flew that day and evening .. flights in and out of PDX and other small airports that day and evening in the corridor .. Weather is no issue -

Lets just get you a Congressional Medal too ... along with Blevins ... and get this over with! Then there will be two DB Coopers. And you will get the recognition you so richly deserve, and wont have to drive people crazy wirth emails and phone calls in the middle of the night - Who is your State Senator? At the very least you and Blevins belong on the CNN Heros program. Consider it done!

I asked a question earlier -- Why wasn't Cooper afraid of being recognized? You have to remember, in terms of dress, the early 70s were just an extension of the crazy 60s. No such thing as a wardrobe malfunction back then. Nobody really cared how anybody dressed back then. We were just starting to recover from the withdrawals caused by free love, sit-ins, love-ins, psychedic shirts, and Woodstock. I'm betting DBC's outdated apparel didn't even get a second look. But I still keep thinking why he didn't try to cover his face or make an attempt to disguise himself in some way. He just didn't seem to even be concerned about it. Why? Maybe the disguise was already in place -- a complete makeover or facelift before he got there, maybe? Or maybe he wasn't from here, he lived far, far away, from some remote location and figured the chances of someone recognizing him were slim to none. But you ask, how then did he know where Tacoma was? He must be from here then. Maybe not. Maybe he could have come around weeks or months earlier (disguised), cased the joint, then flown over the area several times to get the lay of the land -- all the while planning every detail of his sordid deed. If he had worked for Boeing or Northwest in the past, don't you think someone(s) somewhere along the way would have recognized him? He had to fill out a job application, he had to go to the job interview, he had to pick up his paycheck, he had to drop by Human Resourcers, he had to go to work. Then the DBC composites were on every newspaper and TV screen around the world. If the composite sketches were anywhere close, don't you think someone, somewhere in the Boeing or Northwest Airline ranks would have recognized him? Blevins, please do not respond to this post. Nobody wants your 20 paragraphs of regurgitated, broken- record, singing-the-praises of "KC and the Sunshine Band." MeyerLouie Lets just get him a Pulitzer/Congressional Medal or Nobel Prize with Presidential Recognition he deserves, and get this over with! Who is Blevins' State Senator?

Bottom line: My gut tells me that when you approach people cold about a crime that happened 40 years ago... And the first thing they do is start accusing each other... That this is not a good sign. And the MIRACLE of it all is you just stumbled into it, based on your gut, rather quickly, and You have found DB Cooper where the FBI and others could not find DB Cooper in 40 years, with one of the most massive searches in history! Your work and your book are deserving of a Nobel Prize and Congressional-Presidential recognition. Let me see if I cant get the ball rolling for you in that direction ...

You have a person who had jumped before, who was unaccounted for that weekend and came into money sometime after -- . Except he is accounted for on that weekend - he was with Geestman... somewhere.
-
He also picked a flight that had only been added at the end of August - And that means that his planning, or at least the final planning, for the hijacking had to be made between the end of August and Thanksgiving Eve (November 24th). A slightly less than three months period. Robert99 Ckret thought it was just a coincidence.
-
Replies to your questions: Q2: Why? The short answer is that it was really stupid, but also see the answer to Q4. However, it is possible that the late afternoon before Thanksgiving Day was the ideal time (at least in Cooper's mind) for the hijacking due to quite a reduction in governmental activities on Thanksgiving Day. Also, that time frame may have been the best fit for him in some manner. Q2: I personally haven't seen anything that stated Cooper was the last person to buy a ticket for the flight. But he is reported to have been the last person to board the aircraft, which the passengers did through the aft stairs. And he then took a seat in the last row on the right side of the cabin. While waiting to board, Cooper spent some time in the general area of the other Portland boarders and could have checked them out and made sure he didn't know any of them. Any thru passengers and the cabin crew could be easily checked out in the few minutes it took to board. Cooper was apparently satisfied that he didn't know any of these people and he then passed the hijacking note to a flight attendant jut as the airplane was taking off. Q4: Cooper specified that the money be ready at a time that was well past sunset. Adding in the cloudy day, Cooper knew that it would be absolutely dark when he jumped. If Cooper had a jump point in mind, it was probably very close to Seattle and maybe in the Fort Lewis/McChord AFB area. The aircraft was above an overcast before Cooper managed to get the aft stairs unlocked. That means he could not see a jump point in the first place and did not have a means to determine his location with any accuracy. So he had to jump "blind". Robert99 He also picked a flight that had only been added at the end of August -

I would like to know if a TV can be modified to become an X-ray machine. No. But, when you are between channels on an analog television, some of the snow you see and crackling you hear is from radio emissions from space and about 1% or less of that comes from background radiation leftover from the Big Bang, called the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB), some 13.7 billion years old. The same is true for FM radios – when the radio is tuned to a frequency that is between stations.

I have read major portions of the thread. You do realize that if it were a Word document, it would run into the neighborhood of 1,700 pages of text, right? And that's just the current thread, and based on an estimate that was taken well over a year ago. Could be up to more than 2,500 now. As I have told you repeatedly, I never made claim to know for sure whether or not Kenny was the hijacker. I only said he belongs on the suspect list, which I believe he does. Can I prove he was Cooper? Not a chance in hell. "If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere..." Marilyn Monroe Well its time management and a credibility issue. You have almost 2500 posts, have been here two years plus ... and SA Carr's posts encompass only a few months ... Beyond that only a few people and periods of this thread matter. You can skip EVERYTHING Jo Weber ever posted, for starters ... Carr's post are the first you should read, before anything else., Carr's post are the only reason this thread has any credibility, otherwise we would still be back at where we were before this thread. Another very large central issue Gray's book does not even touch vis-a-vis the real DB Cooper is the forensics Tom Kaye and his team developed ... And there are other aspects of this case Gray has no knowledge or information about literally, central to this case. Obviously,. Gray's remarks about identification are points that need to be resolved. Just go back and read Carr's posts here -

Ckret of course said that was not (is not) true. Then you have Geoff Gray, who was allowed access to the original FBI witness reports...who says it IS true. Witness Robert Gregory pegged the hijacker at no taller than five foot nine, by the way. Quote: From some of the others: Tina Mucklow: Five ten to six feet. Flo Schaffner: Six feet, no shorter. George Labissoniere: No older than 35. Cord Spreckel: About 50 years of age. He had a square jaw. Bill Mitchell: He had a saggy chin. The three stews also selected different combinations from the FBI's Facial Identification Catalog. Stew Alice Hancock thought his hair was wavy, while Mucklow said it was straight. Both got good looks at him. Robert Gregory thought the hijacker's hair was so shiny it could have been a dye job. No matter how you cut the mustard, this is typical in eyewitness descriptions, which are a lot like the old story of the blind men trying to identify the elephant. Everyone's description is a bit different. My opinion on Ckret is simple. He got some things right, and on others I am not so sure. Well, firstly you dont know anything about SA Carr. You are in no position to judge any of this outside of your trying to squeeze your client Christian through the door to a movie script. THAT is your mission. You are a script writer... On the substative issue of identification, it seems you also failed to read the thread, because if you had you would know SA Carr DID NOT take a monolithic view of the identification of Cooper. Go back and read his posts! He mentions there was some difference between witnesses. There was a process. There was not just one interview of witnesses ... moreover some witnesses even said they had not seen Cooper only to surface later in the media claiming this and that ...... Larry addresses that. It leads me to wonder, in the context of many other things, just what file or files Gray saw and read, or what slcie of the entire process he was given a file (of files) on ... because as we all know Seattle where Gray researched does not even have all of the files in this case! Your strong bias is well known. I have told you a million times GO BACK AND READ THE THREAD. I can only repeat that advice but you take no one's advice - you only give advice. Hopefully the original poster will be learning something here firsthand, from this exchange. A lot of FACTS have been stated, including yours. If we take Geoff Gray account of this matter, then DB Cooper was almost anybody or nobody! If we take your account ... DB Cooper was Kenneth Christiansen who you then say you cannot prove was DB Cooper.

He must have been an engineer, oblivious to fashion. A suit is a suit. A clip on tie is a tie. I've been there. Never had a pocket protector though, just ink stained pockets. 377 See? There we go. Everyone has a bias. (and is damned sure it has to be their view)

Everyone's description is a bit different. My opinion on Ckret is simple. He got some things right, and on others I am not so sure. Like when he said the FBI had changed its opinion on whether the hijacker had any decent chute experience. I disagree with the idea that the hijacker did NOT have decent experience. I believe it was more a case of a guy who had a fair amount of experience but who had not jumped in a long time. That doesn't necessarily mean it was KC...a lot of people could fit that profile. Georger says in part: Not physics. Common sense. I suggested that it MIGHT be difficult to estimate someone's true height within the confines of an airliner cabin, rather than seeing them out in the open or on the street. The differing descriptions of the hijacker may lend some credence to this theory. So all the time SA Larry Carr spent going through files and 302s is trumped by book writer Geoff Cook going through files! ? Gray is the better FBI agent? If the descriptions of the hijacker do not "differ" as you and Gray suggest, then your new physics is full of poop. ie., "confines of an airliner cabin, rather than seeing them out in the open or on the street." "Confines of an airliner cabin, rather than seeing them out in the open or on the street." is simply another strawman in a long list of strawmen, you have constructed and keep offering ad nauseum. Your logic is biased ie. flawed. And not least: if your physics is utter baloney and madeup strawman, then your prior socalled recitations are made up also - At the very least we have a very serious difference between Carr and other agents vs. Gray/you. And we know for a fact Gray got science team facts totally wrong! Gray is not infallable. And your sole source is some book written by a Geoff Gray, so you have no firsthand knowledge of anything in this! b'rashit bara elohiym v'et hashmayim v'haaretz. from the Torah above. Tell us what it says since you like "translating" from books you use as hooks...

The physical profile provided by the FBI comes from sources who (as Geoff Gray pointed out, pg 92-93) differed greatly in their descriptions of the hijacker. Ckret of course said that was not (is not) true. Ckret (and other agents) have said witnesses were remarkably close to each other in their common description of Cooper; a fact you canot allow because you are pushing your own candidate .. the dwarf! Kenny Christiansen. Hard to fit a 5'8 peg into a 6'2" hole! Space left over at the top. You ave tried every possiblye xplanation to get out this contradiction including suggesting a new physics ie optical aberrations inside an airplane cabin!

You are one of the 1st to point that out! Yes. He looked like a cartoon almost. Maybe he was from another culture and nto fully in tune with it being 1971, in the USA! Or a parody of something? It goes to "profile" - yes? Rumor is several stews made the same observation!!! Tell me if you will how you liked Gray's book and what you think you got from it? Or what it failed to supply or address ? I would be interested in your opinions about that - - - I spent the afternoon today with a retired Marine, Maj M., who has had a long interest in the Cooper case. We spent three hours going over the high points of the case ... lots of coffee ... M was passing through on his way to a reunion.

Why did Cooper steal the money? Profit, deceit, revenge (weak), boredom, narcisist, black ops? What is the profile that Mucklow helped the FBI create? Get back to solving this. Finally! Back to basics! Yes. Mucklow did help the FBI construct a 'profile' of Cooper, with input from others. The FBI hasn't released much of a formal nature from that work, but you are 100% correct - a profile was construct-ed and distrubuted. The issue has been brought up here several times in the past, with a few people expressing their 'profiles', but not much discussion. Any discussion here is always hampered by the same people who are pushing their candidate who then present a profile which fits 'their' candidate, as opposed to an open discussion. Bruce Smith brought the issue up but layered his mysticism on the topic - remote viewing etc. Smith worked as an orderly or something in a psych hospital once, so sees himself as an expert in this area, minus of course any real metrics one could discuss. Lastly, Ckret issued a kind of 'profile' namely a general reply to several asking about the FBI's profile of Cooper - Ckret simply said "Cooper was a novice with just enough knowledge to get himself into trouble" ... which isnt much of a profile (in case you are laughing). Except that Ckret was rather serious about his profile of Cooper, as it might extend into every facet of the crime (technical to general psychological ... outcome). Ckret's profile, if we may call his remarks a profile, looks like a corollary of the Himmelsbach profile, which might be said to be the FBI's general view, that: 'Cooper was an idiot who got in over his head and thus died during the bailout as a consequence of poor estimates of severe conditions etc...' Thats the best I can offer - but thanks for the question.

Don't knock it. He said he could pull about $8000 dollars a day out of that hole. That's probably more than any of us make. I'd talk to squirrels and eat crow for a deal like that. I do wonder why JT completely disappeared from thre forum. I met Jerry and his child bride at the Portland symposium. In person, JT was easy to get along with and not at all belligerant, even when we disagreed. He put me in touch with Himmelsbach who graciously answered a bunch of questions I had about Cooper's alleged familiarity with donning a parachute rig. 377 Never talked to the guy so wouldnt know ... DUHHH!!!! JT used to claim you 2 were close and talked all of the time? Why are you here ? vs. There ? For that matter why am I here!? Bye.

I dont think you are lying about what you heard Jo, I just think you misinterpretted it. The efforts of others to get you to understand and acknowledge your error has been for naught. We tried, we failed, we will let it go. 10-4? 377 Lie? Who knows... But to spend months wondering about what one "did not hear" so one may "know what one did not hear" ... is a little like reaching in and out of a coma... only to discover the patient has been dead for 12 years ... and the bill is HUGE! ??? That is why we need attornies .. who do not mind that mistakes get made ... The more serious the coma - the more serious the WAKEUP!

I haven't replied because I go to bed earlier now than I did before. Remember we have a 2 hour time difference. What was said was directional lingo & I don't remember much more. It was coming from the plane above us and we were going in the opposite direction. THE SOUND WAS DIFFERENT AND WHY IT GOT MY ATTENTION. Same kind of communications I have heard when I flew in small craft over the yrs. Only a few times - private planes...some business and one gentleman friend. Also having serious problems staying on line - I keep loosing the thread and have to sign on 2 or 3 times just to finish a post. The response Duane gave them was something about frequencies. That is all I remember. THis was 1978 in WY. Some how that communication came in on our CB. Whatever - I am tired of hashing it over. I have told you what I know and yet, you guys keep tearing apart what I try to say and then twisting the words as someone did above in another post. That is sense-less...since I know nothing about this other than what I have told. I know it happened and that is all. I once heard a starling talking to a squirrel, and then the squirrel talked back ... LOUD! Yap yap! Yap yap yap! Yap yap! etc. I wonder what that was all about. Maybe squirrels and starling talked to Cooper/Duane and we just havent found the right squirrel or starling, crow, or racoon yet ... to know what happened to Cooper/Duane ? JT is an expert on squirrels, starlings crows, and racooons ... but it didnt seem to get him anywhere except to a goldmine!

Excuse me for living, but reviewing your last fifty posts, ... I would say the 'venom' tag belongs to you more than me. I don't have a problem with people being wrong, but I DO have a BIG problem when they simply make up lies to forward a personal agenda. How long did it take you to "reviewing your last fifty posts" ? When did you do this - just now, in the last 5 seconds? Then you say: "I DO have a BIG problem when they simply make up lies to forward a personal agenda." I see a contradiction: So its OK when you make stuff up but not OK when 'they' make stuff up? But you never make stuff up... you just reviewed my last fifty posts, at the speed of light, and you never make stuff up ... But, quoting you: "but the only person I ever 'picked on' was Marla Cooper. And the reason I did that was because I don't have a problem with people being wrong, but I DO have a problem when they simply make up lies to forward a personal agenda." You "picked on Marla" ... after reviewing her last fifty posts? But since you only picked on Marla you dont pick on other people you dislike or feel threatened by ... like Galen Cook and the FBI ...? and you are the sole determiner of truth, for yourself and everyone else and have no personal agenda. The Church of Adventure Books & Bobert Miracle Blevins! "If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere..." Marilyn Monroe So, tell me what the subjects of the 13th and 37th of my last fifty posts was, and what I said ? I am curious to know! This would certify that you are a true genius and not just some common liar making stuff up as others do but never you, "to forward a personal agenda".. My prediction is: you will say: "I never said that" ... And THAT in a nutshell defines the current stalmate everything is in, and has been in for several years, here at DZ, trying to discuss the Cooper case with a bunch of wannabe's around who have a deep seated personal agenda of one kind or another ... from radios to "Duane was at bu Dop in 1968 and I'm dying and too sick to not post 6000 times " !
-
You are trying to be Farflung lately. Doesn't suit you. There is only ONE Farflung. Going this route with nearly all your postings is making you come off sort of bitter. That was unsolicited advice. "If I'd observed all the rules, I'd never have got anywhere..." Marilyn Monroe Ok Marilyn. The post wasnt to you or directed at you! PICK ON SOMEONE ELSE FOR A CHANGE MR VENOM.. MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS FOR A CHANGE. I see either you or Jo fucked up the page again - Please tell us when we may post on your forum again - Mr. Nice. PLEASE USE A CONDUM ON YOUR NEXT ATTACK!

oo oo teacher I have an answer oo oo The better to conceal of course. Duane was an expert snow pilot. Had the third eye of .... why ARIEL of course ... the lioness of Elohiym from the Book of Solomon which Duane used to read!
-
Jo, 377 and Matt, plus others, CB Perhaps Duane used a quasar to time and locate. We used to keep track of how 'ideas' migrated to one poster then would surface later in fullborn assertaination of a claim ... chided 377 to STFU about CB's, then CB's took hold too! like following the track of a purse snatcher in snow ... the apple doesnt fall from the tree - QUASARS! a ripple in the maldum fornax anyone can tap into ...
