Glen must have a boner........ Ed You feel it too? Nylonagra

"I did some more jumps on our new suit, very promising". Well do tell the rest of us about it James?

I also appreciate that in order to build massive formations, there has to be a selection process from a safety and make it happen perspective. Its going to take a whole lot more than a selection process. With that alone they might get a "tight" 30 way if they are lucky. The organizers better have a foundation for a flyable plan and a technique for training up the many flyers that normally don't fly that way at home on any given Sunday. They are going to have to work there asses off training prospects and selecting without politics if they want to go as big as their hopes indicate. A lot of mistakes are going to be made by both participants and organizers,..... at first. BUT with the camps coming up it will be a good time to get involved, even if the big stuff does not appeal to you or isn't your flavor. Most likely you will come away with something, other skills and probably meet flyers you wouldn't normally. 08 might just be a really good year for wingsuits like 07 was really good for CReW even if you had no plans on the record events.

I'm not sure if Mojave to Palm Springs qualifies as cross country. It looks like it's only about 100 miles. You could fire up a big, complex AC, and by the time you get it up to speed and alititude, you have to bring it back down for the approach. Not right now you wouldn't we are having some nasty weather. A nice fast twin would be better to get you over, through it quicker.

Rutan was flying a C150??? I'm shocked the tall guy fit in the 150. You would think that Burt would let him take the Boomerang now that he lost his medical.

Are you Glen Plake?

Come on Ed, who is the most dangerous, underqualified, inarticulate, self proclaimed wingsuit instructor you personally know?!?.................... That would be me and I have over a 100 happy qualified nuggets pass through my extra yahoo suits to go on to be productive, satisfied and safe wingsuit citizens. This shit is so easy even a retired guy like Ira can teach himself to do it! Wanna see the video?

who is giving out dangerous advice, are there people doing this and what does this consist of? It mainly consists of saturating the applicants brain with fear of the dreaded flat spin. Once consumed by this fear the applicant makes that third and final payment.
-
Exactly, that is why jumpers wanting to learn to fly a wingsuit should choose wisely as to the instruction they are getting, as well as who they are getting it from, and not the just some Yahoo with an extra wingsuit...... Ed And how does someone new judge wisely? The roster? A patch? The one with the most extra suits? I say pick the one who has easy financing or offers the three easy payment options. I never met a "yahoo with an extra suit" that I didn't like. On the flipside some ( not all!) of those guys on the roster with their patches............are down twisted!

Do you have any clue how many jumpers have a dedicated rig for FF( that might be a pullout), WS ( most likely throwout), CReW ( could be either to include some guys still use the ROL), BASE ( much different handle in the same location),BASE wingsuit ( basically a different handle but if they are using a suit that has a base pouch its in an equivalent of an ROL. Think about it! You are right, for some people swapping systems would be an issue. For others it comes with the territory. I only personally know one person with a convertible but know many with dedicated rigs.

You get a free 'Im a rebel' sticker if you respond within 2 minutes! And a hug if you need one :-) I get the first sticker wafflehead!

To all Tony series 2 wingsuit owners,

You know heff-a-bro Jarno could always undo his rear set of wing attach cables ( the Tony mod ) and get what this tread is all about, 24.75% more performance. I bet they could get into the high teens if it weren't for drag from all those gay topgun patches. -
Yes you can get a convertible system. It requires that a spandex BOC gets installed on your container. You can fly pull out for FF and then convert in a few minutes to a throwout when you think you might do a few wingsuit jumps. Even though a few guys get away with it, pullouts are just not recommended....... and for very good reasons.

Preferably on top, so I can read it at break-off.. I think I like this guy. -
Yes but I wasn't supposed to stand up a round and they let me know it! Ironically back when I started you were not going to get into a ram air canopy without a min 100 jumps. I new I could do better than some of the face plants the ram air jumpers were pulling. This was part of the reason I quit. When I took it up again I landed without any radio remarks, perfect flare, two step stand up landing right next to my reserve side instructor . He said he could tell I was a pilot ( which he is also). Then my mainside instructor ( also a pilot) came and chewed me out for landing in the licensed landing area and told me I was to land in the student area!

Isn't the parapack on the Tonys sandwiched over a second layer thats windproof ? I've only seen one blade and it was the custom jet pack blade.
-
Yes, but is its porosity compared to ZP a detriment or a non event on the impact of performance when it comes to wingsuits? I was wondering this very question now that BM has offered it as an option. Not that I'm about to accuse any company of brilliant design over this until its proven.

What is she gonna do with a lump of coal? What, you haven't seen two girls and a lump of coal video?

What FAA test were you taking? Don't stress the chubbing the suits are built tuff.......nice colors you lads got there........almost team like..... the PF team.

for the sake of this thread, it would be very helpful if instead of innuendo, you provided actual data. If you have the data, why won't you simply post it? That way we don't have to solely rely on your analysis and can draw our own conclusions. I haven't downloaded an audible for logging in five years. That was two computers ago for me. Once you start overlaying the graphs you will realize the info is pretty weak and definately not worth saving on a hard drive. But the point is I don't want you to rely on my analysis. -

Then, you bring up a very thought-provoking experiment that you've obviously drawn conclusions from, but you can't save us the trouble of repeating this somewhat logistically-demanding test because somehow the "data is way too erratic to post in this forum". Even if I post the data would you trust it? I'm not the Huck a Buck Chuck Blue. But if you performed the experiment there would be no doubt in your mind. You wouldn't have to rely on Jeff's or Chuck's say so or my Nay-so ( you can't trust me, did you see the sleazy pic Ed posted? Nasty!) -

I take it you have done the same experiment. Would you please post your data and findings? The data is way too erratic to post in this forum. That experiment will cure anybody and it should be mandatory before being allowed to post a graph, plot or math equation here. I've sold my jumptrack software less than a month after I bought specifically for WS flights, and that was five years ago. I regularly jump with three recording audilbles and I've done the sock thing........girls love it! -

I'm LAUGHING my ass off! Thanks ED! I have beer gills otherwise I would have sprayed this monitor. Chuck Blue Blasphemy Boogie! Nobody will trust who Scott, me or Ed? -

Yet I've never heard anyone provide any data or logic to back up that assertion. Would you mind explaining why you've come to your conclusions? I'm honestly curious. Thank you, Brian You can conduct your own experiment. Get a small bracket or sheet, Fix 3 or more GPS units mount it on a helmet and jump it. You will be shocked by the data variances between the units. I'm sure all will report absolute landing accuracy because you are standing still. You may be surprised by the very staggered exit points represented. Jump the set up 10 times and count how many times the info was close, 50% of the time numbers within 20%? Is that good data? Throw in some radical turns on ten other jumps and see what you get. Do the same with audibles get up to ten of them stick them in a sock slip them into your wingsuit. Info will be better if they are all the same brand and on the same software revision but still not close enough to quote on a tread in the wingsuit forum. Conducting this experiment might mean the tester will never post a glide ratio graph here again. -
Found a possible source of very inexpensive CF plate here in Asia, If its inexpensive enough the thickness, within reason, shouldn't be critical
