  1. Let me know when you are are ready for a brand war thread take-over. Some of us have been saving up.
  2. For all we know Yuri doesnt even jump and is a 180 kg fat bastard who lives in his mothers basement and has never seen a women up close I'm pretty sure that he was, until his recent banning there, Heavy trolling the commodore 64 forums. And now that he is banned there he can commit 100% of his focus here.
  3. They were talking about LAMINAR airfoils. Laminar airfoils have an advantage at higher airspeeds, up near the speed of sound (around 770 miles per hour). The downside of laminar airfoils is that they require much tighter quality control (read heavy and I never heard that laminar flow foils only provide benefits at higher speeds, in fact they are the foils used on several high tech sailplanes and some early homebuilts, but in both cases surfaces made of fiberglass or graphite where its easier to control manufacturing tolerance. You are right about surface contamination in some cases if the moisture in the morning air was bad enough to form big droplets the foils lost lift and these gliders could not stay aloft.
  4. Better off flying something cheep that can withstand some buttlandings and doesnt make you cry when it gets grassstaines (as those usualy are acosiated with low experience) Low experience canopy piloting you mean! Get you facts straight charno! Actually if you can't land your canopy conventionally without worrying about grass stains and ass strikes 96~99% of the time by 80 to 100 jumps do us all ( including yourself ) a favor and just work with canopy skills coach before ever thinking about wingsuits. Take care of the basics. On the flip side if you do attain vast canopy skills before trying wingsuits please refrain from doing those fabulous lay-down freestyle canopy manuvers through the tall grass in it. The law of averages will state the wingsuit will be borrowed and white.
  5. Long time! Congrats Ducky.... eh Lupreckt.
  6. I use mine for every discipline without any problems at all. .....every discipline? You free flying? To the OP, there are no ill effects and if it is no charge then do it! It might even increase probable resale value down the road when everybody is into wingsuits.
  7. well im ready to try vacuum boundary layer suction on my wingsuit, the tiny fans are gonna suck from the top of my wing then also inflate into the wing itself. all powered by 50 9 volt batteries placed around the wingsuit, orrr 1 big battery, feeding the vacuums through christmas tree lights, which will in turn make me look super sick and lit up as my boundary layers are far more attached than the rest of yous's It might just work but if you clog the breather ports with moisture or dirt from those dusty aircraft then you just might end up like a vacuumed bagged slab of meat.
  8. Nothing a little carburetor cleaner wouldn't cure.
  9. It is a theory but if we more like lifting bodies ( a theory of its own) then the backside could be fabricated out of shag carpet without ill effect as it would be in a huge burble.
  10. I flocked with James in the Stealth at Eloy. That suit had a huge amount of range. James has a huge amount of range and ability your mileage may vary. This is why he is known as Boole,.. James Boole and you are monkey boy....... neither as cool as being referred to as " Everest Baxter" but you gotta kiss a few sherpas to get there.
  11. SuperYuri will save the day and liberate us from horrible wingsuits with his own design... the Clown1 (shoes not included) Are you kidding the glide ratio is all in the shoes, made of cuban fiber I heard.
  12. if smoother and smaller surface area was always better, golf balls wouldn't have dimples and shark skin wouldn't be as rough as sandpaper... I know what you are saying. Sharks and super sonic fighters have a ruff skin texture but they operate at different fluid density or fluid velocity. Like Matt said wingsuit science is a large unknown. When it comes to vertical skydiving its well known that the added texture slows the speed and the smoother material gives the lightweights the needed speed. When it comes to us in WS, who knows? How much do we rely on the suits airfoils or are we at best lifting bodies like the flying bathtub experiments. How much does a little texture or turbulation help or hurt us. Don't know. BTW aren't the dimples in golf balls for stability, so that they don't do those things that baseballs do?
  13. Shit, well have this framed. Your last paragraph was gospel! Along with the extra surface area of the newer suits, and the drag associated with it, there is a huge penalty in forward speed and to a degree in the ability to collapse the wings and descend. Most of these newer suits have larger vents and panels made of materials that create more parasitic drag compared to zp with flush vents in addition to the induced drag of the greater surface area.
  14. I thought it was the neptune software itself that does not work with Mac os?!? I would love to upload neptune software revs in osx.
  15. I think thats only partialy true, some of the bigger suits get lesser glide ratios then slighly smaller ones. Increased size also means increased drag. I think we've reached the point where suits can not be made much bigger (though probably will) and smart aerofoil design and some new idea's brewing in the closet will be whats needed to continue further on the path of increased flight performance... Jarno I completely agree.
  16. I want thrust vectoring, or "pop" .......kidding. Gimme speed then gimme changes in pitch with some funky grips on the buddies, a little "el rollo" into a gravitron ( think roller coaster) an orbitron, inverted diamond track, side slipping and spinner to ride along as proof we are not making stories up.
  17. Yah mean like a dragonfly?
  18. Bung hole is the correct term for the smallish screw in capped openings in 55 gallon barrels that once open never seal and leak the liquid .
  19. It's old hat. Lemme guess you invented that back when you invented the WS instructor and the atmonuati? My bad the Furnarimonuati.
  20. SR71 $14,000 jump from 60,000 feet Hey skipper,... how bout a chop? puleazeeeee!!!
  21. For those of you that owned both an original skyflyer 3 and then the improved 3-s/ 6, what was the difference in the arm wing other than the hard mylar inserts and VG sizing? Specifically looking for difference in chord or span changes. We are comparing suits sized the for the same person.
  22. Shaving Ryan's privates.
  23. Thank you, that should keep me busy for a morning.
  24. Don't see a problem with yuri_base. He is affectionately know as the fake Yuri
