Medical Insurance and Jumping ...
TheCaptain replied to KermieCorleone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have checked that my medical coverage covers a skydiving accident. That being said when I got hurt skydiving 8 years ago, I told them I fell off my roof (just in case) Kirk He's dead Jim -
I really think the Viso is a great altimeter with really crappy mount options from the factory. Relying on that thin piece of plastic to hold up in 4 locations taking all the possible force as your mount does, I think is a bad idea (even L& B did not use zip tyes as I am sure they felt it would break the plastic there). Personaly I bought the Protektor outer plastic skin and using a 1/8" x 1" x (long enough to get the outer mounting holes) Aluminum. Then I drilled and tapped a small plate on the top side and used the supplied wrist band sandwiched between the altimeter and the aluminum base plate. Kirk He's dead Jim

Tony suits started out with the a different cut wing that tappered the outer edge to the legs. These suits were the Raptor, Super Mach one, and the XS, they then change the arm wing to cut in after the gripps and only the sections closest to the torso ran down. At first these were offered as a option on the suit so raptor became the R-bird, the super mach one became the S-bird and the XS became the X-bird. Not sure if that is what you are asking or not Kirk He's dead Jim

Spaceland - This CAN'T be true...can it?
TheCaptain replied to popsjumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well IMHO the tandem students in this thread should have asked some more questions before laying out the money. They are on vacation and were told prior to laying out the money that due to the weather it would be awhile. Why would someone not ask the question what happens if we do not jump today since we do not live around here? Yes, the DZ could have done this or that to help but as consumers it is also part of their responsibility to be ask (especially since they do not live there and there is a sign that states NO REFUND) Kirk He's dead Jim -
This one always stuck out to me Prince "let's pretend we're married" " Marsha I am not saying this to be nasty but I sincerely want to f**k the taste out of your mouth " Kirk He's dead Jim

I have have used these for about the last 6 years B40. They are cheaper and in about 400 skydives a year I go through 1 to 2 pairs . They fit well and have foam gasket. I tried once to use a very good fitting pair of sunglasses and spent the entire skydive in a blurr. Kirk He's dead Jim

I sure hope your are not looking at buying a Velocity with 200 jumps. Kirk He's dead Jim

Does this system still use a three ring release for the mains as the dual hawk or did that get updated too? Kirk He's dead Jim

To go along your thought pattern( which I agree with) I know in the end all TI's take on a huge liablity risk doing this job, but just think if a TI was taken to court and found he failed the flight physical and or had to go to Canada to get one. I would think it would be extremely bad for that TI Kirk He's dead Jim

I have always had my flight physical done by one doctor up until my last one I just got done. Mine ran around $190 each and were extremely therow; however my last one cost $90 and well was a vision test and pee test only. I think they should be required but more therow then my last one. I was turning in the field last year and my new student said " I will pay you $50 if you can make me puke". I told him I was afraid to take him up on that one, but I took it that he wanted the wildest ride I could give him and he did not puke

Infinity containers was orignally built by a company I believe called Northern Lite before Velocity sports bought it. I do not remember the exact date but I thought it was around 1997 or 1998 when company changed hands. As far as Kelly Farington is the owner and I have had a few conversations with him, personally I thought he spoke very intelligently about his product and was very articulate. I have an Infinity and love it and the service Kelly has provided. Kirk He's dead Jim

I worked grave yard shift for 7 years and for a couple of years got maybe 4 hours a sleep a day. I have fallen asleep doing most everything but the best one is after 4 hours of sleep I went to the gym and while running on a tread mill I fell asleep. I started out just closing my eyes next thing i know I hit the deck and was spit out the back of the machine Kirk He's dead Jim

nice picture of ED but once again this suit does not have arm wings that extend down to beyond the knee. Robi is definitly one of the biggest pioneers of wingsuit design but lately outside of the vampire series his suits seem to be nearly mirroring his competions. The Venom and the Stealth are more or less the same as the X-bird or a super mach one. Kirk He's dead Jim

The Z-1 open face is one of the worst designs made. I own one and it never is in the same place twice on several wing suit jumps it caught air and nearly started choking me. I would never consider putting a camcorder on one as you would have no idea where it was going to point. I love the Z1 full faced helmet but the open faced one sucks Kirk He's dead Jim

While an interesting picture the arm wing design is nothing like the S- bird, X-bird or the PF version the Venom. On all of those suits the section of the arm wing closest to the torso extends down to the shin area for 6" or so. I personally give Robi props for all his innovation, hell wingsuits would not even have made this huge leap without him but the stealth and venom are more or less coping the competition. Maybe in the design of human flight would eventually lead to these designs but who made it first and who is copying who? Tony suits have come a very long way and for the most part have made their own path, his first suites did not copy anyones and they lead to their current suits, for that I really want to give them a hand. I would assume that you work as Precision and would know about this but I have read about the X-VX mod. before. Kirk He's dead Jim

Anyone else jump the new Precision Tandem Main yet?
TheCaptain replied to Ron's topic in Tandem Skydiving
There are some construction differences between their old tandem mains to these but I really could not tell much of a difference in performance between them. Kirk He's dead Jim -
I would guess these are the proto types, where the two closest cells to the torso on the arm wing extend down to the about the shin. Kirk He's dead Jim

There are many different possiblities, lets start with a very common one. You are filming a tandem and the tandem pulls a little lower than SOP for video or just at the right altitude but on a very long spot putting you even lower on deployment. Which could mean landing out, just making it back, having to land downwind or do some brake turns at low altitudes. Other deployment issues may be snag hazzard with helmet, new set of proceedures to deal with camera/camera suit which eats time after deployment, being preoccupied with camera/videoing your own landing and make a mistake. This is just a few things and all gets more complex at higher wingloadings because you will eat up more altitude quicker. Kirk He's dead Jim

Adding a camera adds a new set of emergency procedures that encompass it and in your case add to the fact you are flying a very aggressive canopy at a very early stage in your skydiving career. Kirk He's dead Jim
