Female vs. Male Elderly Tandems
TheCaptain replied to TiaDanger's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I really have not kept track but I would say that I have taken about an even number of older men compared to older women. Kirk He's dead Jim -
Just a quick note about Cordura knees, you may want to add a measurement of where the cordura knee should begin (measured from the inseem). Maybe just my experience but I have had some that were too far up and were of no use, you need them more on the shin side and remember the leg straps will generally pull the pant legs up just a little too. I jump a VX109 loaded 2.3 to 1. I am now considering getting something else though. I had my first cutaway due to line twist in a wingsuit and at a boogie recently I noticed that I would break off higher so I would be able to open higher than most due to the constraints of what canopy I fly. I do not like openning below 3000 AGL. Kirk He's dead Jim

The idea behind "I told you so" I will assume, is so that every person who states" I fly better than a person with a 1000 jumps, and or I am better than the others" could may be just for a second under stand that there are thousands of people that made those same statements that either learned they were wrong or are no longer among us. The OP thinks may be some of those out there saying those thing may just for a moment rethink it if they really knew how many others thought that just before **** happened. I personally think everyone that really think they are above the general rules are just DGIT but that is just me. Have a great day Docpop Kirk He's dead Jim

I know cause you have "mad skillz" good luck with that. I hope you survive learning that the ground is very unforgiving and does not care about your "mad skillz" Kirk He's dead Jim

Thanks for that. Perhaps you could give me some specific coaching and tell me exactly what I am doing wrong in my canopy flight then I will be able to work on that and improve. I would suggest a much lower performance canopy like a Safire 2, Sabre 2. Then I would suggest taking a canopy course and learning to wring that canopy out before switching to a Katana. Canopy progression should be slow and before down sizing or changing plan forms you should be able to wring your current canopy completely out. Kirk He's dead Jim

My choice came from several things price, performance, and flight characteristics. The VX does pretty good in line twist out of maybe 15-20 jumps with line twist (yes that would either be from my pack jobs or body position on opening)the canopy only pointed to the ground once. I have owned a Xaos 27 cell but the openings were less than great, it either opened with the end cells inflated and the rest of the canopy deflated which the end cells would fly together or it would have a wicked fast 360° turn to which ever side open last. I have jumped a Velocity but the openings were too searchy for me. I have never jumped a JVX but the price would keep me from one. Kirk He's dead Jim

Wow, 3 years 200 jumps and you are on a Katana loaded 1.5 to one. Sweet you must have "mad skillz" Kirk He's dead Jim

That is a true oximoron there Either it is cheap and you get what you pay for or it is good. I tried once to get a cheap suit and found you definitly get what you pay for Kirk He's dead Jim

When a married person has an affair with a single person

One is cheating and the other is a low life for being involved with someone in a commited relationship IMHO. Kirk He's dead Jim -
Wow, I ordered my Super Mach 1 at the end of January this year and received it 4 weeks later and it fits like a glove. Kirk He's dead Jim

There is such a thing called information overload, students need to know how a parachute works "basically". They more importantly need to learn how to deal with flying their body, opening the parachute, and identifying and dealling with malfunctions. In the beginning there is alot more important subjects to cover in great detail other than the aerodynamics of the parachute IMHO Kirk He's dead Jim

Earplugs? Personal preference or a real reason?
TheCaptain replied to 3mpire's topic in Safety and Training
The only time I wear ear plugs is as a TI. I only wear them in freefall as I want to be able to comunicate with my student clearly all other times. Kirk He's dead Jim -
Ever question the snag hazard with have all those spots lines could get in and around with that mount. I have not jump it but this was my take on a mount. Kirk He's dead Jim

Earplugs? Personal preference or a real reason?
TheCaptain replied to 3mpire's topic in Safety and Training
For me it is a personal preference thing, I have some hearing loss(and constant ringing in my ears) from concerts and club and I would like to minimize any more hearing loss. I know lots of instructors that do not use them and they hear fine. Kirk He's dead Jim -
Earplugs? Personal preference or a real reason?
TheCaptain replied to 3mpire's topic in Safety and Training
I put my ear plugs in right before exit and take them out as soon as I am under canopy, I find the noise in freefall to be too loud for me and I am trying to reduce hearing loss. Kirk He's dead Jim -
420lb male skydiving. Possible? Yes, but how?
TheCaptain replied to TheOneBigMike's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Losing weight suck a$$ but it can be done. Very simple the caleries you take in have to be less than the caleries you output, I used that simple formula to lose 110 LBS when I was 18. Weight does not come off ease but it will come off. Also have you thought about trying out for the biggest loser tv show. Plain and simply weight loss is the only answer to skydiving. Good luck Kirk He's dead Jim -
Personally on evey wingsuit jump I make, I think it is most important to throw the pilot chute as hard as possible "like your life depended on it". Every single pilot chute hasetation I have ever had wingsuit flying was from a weak pull. I think Matt is correct. Kirk He's dead Jim
