  1. I have a question about automotive insurance claim. Here’s the situation: There are two lanes going south on the highway just past a stop light the right lane ends, I was in the left lane and drive X was in the right. His lane ended but he wanted to be in front of me, I really dislike people that know a lane is ending but ride it out to the end and bypass all the people that were patiently waiting in line. Drive X’s lane ends but he continues forward for about 400 feet with no lane and most of his car past the white line. I keep about 1 foot off the car in front of me and just look forward and drive straight. Driver X hits me. So we exchange info and I call my insurance co and his file claims but talking to both insurance co Driver’s X insurance will gather all the information and then decide if driver X is liable otherwise I have to claim it on my insurance and pay the deductable. It seem strange to me that an insurance company can decide if they are liable and that is i( I mean really if that is truly the case I would think the company would never find their client liable), so the question is this really how auto insurance works or is there something else I could do. I know we were both being idiots and that I am to blame too but I figured I had the right of way and that would be that. Kirk He's dead Jim
  2. Thanks for that advice, this is the data from my 7th jump on the super mach one. I weight 247LBS out the door my viso recorded a 2:37 secong flight deploying at 4000 AGL. I am moving my deployment altitude down slowly with this suit. I also covered alot of ground. Kirk He's dead Jim
  3. It blows my mind that some seem to think it is OK to take a wingsuit student up on an advanced wingsuit of any kind for their first jump. If I personally ever saw that, there would be more than just a few words said about it to the instructor ( and I really do not care about how many wingsuit jumps they have or how many times they have gotten away with taking first time wingsuit pilots up on a V1 or what ever) wrong is wrong and the only way to keep it from happening is to be very vocal about it. I find it interesting that even amounst ourselves there is ? of what would be appropriate suit as even you defended the use of a Skyflier 3 for a first jump. If the experienced wingsuit pilots can not define beginner suits from advanced suits how can we expect the students to define it for their first purchase of a wingsuit Kirk He's dead Jim
  4. I know this subject is pretty much dead but just take a look at the pictures attached. The Intro arm wing ends maybe 3" below the BOC where the Skyflier 3 is around 12".The Skyflier 3 S which is pretty much an Skyflier 6 has about 1-1/2" longer arm wing then the Skyflier 3. While I am sure the intro has a bigger leg wing the arm wing is considerably smaller and ease of access to the BOC is IMHO critical for a beginner suit. Kirk He's dead Jim
  5. Hmmmm, it looks like alot of others would disagree about the Skyflyer 3 being a good suit for a beginner suit Kirk He's dead Jim
  6. I have dental implants for my four front top teeth. They removed the teeth in one operation and put artificial bone graft material back in the tooth socket. Six months later they cut a small section of bone from my lower jaw and screwed it in place on my upper jaw. The sight were the bone was placed did not hurt but the sight they took if from did for awhile. Six months after that they drilled the holes and placed the implants, I had an option to be put out or just have a local ( I screwed up and said local). The implants are a self tapping screw so after they drill the hole they screw them in, as they are getting screwed in there is a huge feeling of pressure (Kind of like putting that part of your skull in a vise). After that they cover the sight up and let it heal for 6 months, then they uncover the sight and place the implants. When the teeth are removed the will give you a removable mouth piece that has teeth on it(they call if a flipper), mine was so nice looking I got complements on my teeth. While it is great for cosmetics you can not use it for eating. FYI, the total bill for my implants was right around $40,000 for the four teeth. Lucky for me this was a workmen's comp accident and I paid $0. Kirk He's dead Jim
  7. Hey, I still have an S1 hanging in my closet. Every bigger suit I've flown was a damn sight easier to fly! Yes, the exact reason why high performance then should still be high performance now even if it is a far cry from current suits but then again what do I know according to others on this thread . 8. Thank you and well said Kirk He's dead Jim
  9. I usually offer the same advise about the first 10 jumps. I may not be the most current wingsuit pilot as I have about 250 wingsuit jumps spread over 7 years, but it is my understanding that what make a good beginners suit is having easy access to the BOC without having to grab around the wing. 10. In another thread I was being a smart a$$ about what would be a good beginners suit, so I thought I would ask the general populous of experienced wingsuit pilots. What would you recommend for a person that has 200 Jumps and wants to buy a wingsuit and take instruction from a wingsuit instructor? mulitple answers are accepted I took out the high end suits like the Vampire series, the Stealth/ Stealth 2 the S-bird, Super mach one, X-bird, and the XS. I personally think that these would be reserved for wingsuit pilots with around 100 or so wingsuit jumps, but please correct me if I am wrong. Kirk He's dead Jim
  11. Sweet, so once again I will make a mental note 20 jumps and an S3 go to go
  12. Wow, I did not realize we have come so far that an S3 is a great beginners suit. That is amazing, I guess next we will be teaching students on crossfire's next. Sorry for the other comment I will revise my standard now. Kirk He's dead Jim
  13. That is awesome, I sure hope that is not an Skyflyer 3 being used for someones first wingsuit flight though. Kirk He's dead Jim
  14. Quote Maybe we can just wrap each students head, or entire body for that matter, in Bubble Wrap? Quote Long live Zoltan Kirk He's dead Jim
  15. I understand that but I am finding the body position I fly with the SM1 is different than my Skyflier 3 S. I just wanted some insight into what others have found to be the best max flight body position. Kirk He's dead Jim
  16. I have a new super mach one and was wondering what the correct body position for max flight. I know that the S bird and the SM1 are different but the body position should be close to the same. I am 240 LBS out the door and have only been getting about 50 MPH average on my suit. I only have 5 jumps on it so I am a long ways away from dialing it in. Kirk He's dead Jim
  17. Hi Kim Well, we all know the reason for the back strap so let’s see if I can verbalize it. In the transition from belly to earth freefall to sitting in the harness under canopy, it is possible that a student’s legs can surpass 90 or more degrees making it a possibility that the student could then fall backwards out of the harness( which has happened before). The back strap when properly adjusted keeps the student from being able to fall backwards out of the harness. Kirk He's dead Jim
  18. Wow, that is quite the snag hazzard hanging out there (personally that would scare that crap out of me). Do you have a way to cut the helmet away? Kirk He's dead Jim
  19. I would highly suggest getting a container that has the "sky hook" system. Vector 3, and Javelins are the ones that come to mind that have them. I like my Infinity but if I were personally in the market for a new container the "sky hook" would be a my first requirement and right now Infinities do not have a option for the "sky hook" Kirk He's dead Jim
  20. These questions should be answered by the DZ that you are training at. Most likely would at least have to repeat the last level completed prior to the injury Kirk He's dead Jim
  21. I am having the same issue with my sons Playstation 3. Power company came out and change the power meter to a digital one shuting power off to the house, funny they never notified us about it. Anyway my sons PS3 was on at the time now it will not find the wireles router but everything else we have has no problem finding it. Kirk He's dead Jim
  22. I believe this was the last tandem fatality tandem fatality Kirk He's dead Jim
  23. I would whole heartly agree with that Kirk He's dead Jim
  24. Hmmmm, correct me if I am wrong but you have to have a coach rating in order to get your tandem rating or atleast that was the case back when I got my tandem rating. In fact I just got my USPA tandem rating a couple years ago and to get that I had to preform a coach jump. Also if skydiver "B" was that great after 1 year in the sport, he should only get better after 3 years in the sport. Kirk He's dead Jim
  25. People do apply themselves to things differently and time in the sport may not be the best qualifier and it is not the only qualifier. A person also has to prove their knowledge and skills in the instructor courses. I personally believe if something is worth doing, it is also worth taking the time to do it right. I find it interesting the only ones that wine about the three years in the sport are the ones that do not have three years in this sport. Time in the sport allows one to see more things go wrong, even if that person may not be looking for it. By the time I had three years in the sport, I had lost a friend, someone I knew got really hurt when their parachute clasped 200 feet AGL (crushing their face, foot, and breaking their leg & pelvis), seen a skydiver break both legs and have to be airlifted to the hospital, I watch another skydiver land after having a heart attack & dying in freefall. To me time in the sport, allows one to truly grasp the concept of mortality and the responsibility one is taking on when accepting the responsibility for another persons life.
