  1. The unfortunate thing is while there are some really great instructors that can shoot incredible handicam videos, these instructors are few and far between. Most of the stuff that passes as tandem video handicam are horrible with instructor seeming not to care about the quantity only the extra $ they get. I think there is a market for both outside video and handicam if done correctly with clientele for each. My wife and I used to edit videos for a stent, I prefer the look of outside video and my wife preferred the handicam video (stating it gave a more accurate perspective that the individual student went through). The one scene captured in handicam that is priceless is there initial reaction after opening. Kirk He's dead Jim
  2. 2325 Tandems 3 cutaways 1) Strong dual hawk with Set 400 -- tension knots 2) Sigma, Precision Tandem 365--- bag lock ***just a word of caution in a high speed malfunction on Sigma rigs the preclasped drogue may not be enough drag to release the risers, you may want to make sure they are released from the container before firing the reserve *** 3) Sigma, Precisiion Tandem 365 -- the drogue bridle wrapped around some of the D lines(I believe the chimney got caught at the cascades as I only got a second to look at it before we were off to the races, and I have no idea how this could actually happen other than another issue with preclasping the drogue possibly) on the right side causing a hard right hand turn. 3335 total jumps one cut away on VX109 with wingsuit, opened up to line twist and started spinng to the ground. Found out later my brake lines had worn and there was a 2” difference one side to the other from brake setting to cascade Kirk He's dead Jim
  3. I love that they are discussing what to do about skydivers not having insurance and will not let Urban explain that he has insurance to cover it. Kirk He's dead Jim

  6. I would highly suggest buying a used first rig. There are a lot of great reasons to buy used. Lets just start with the container size, why start out your skydiving career cramming a main that is too big into a smaller container so you are ready when you down size. Sure you could buy a new container meant for a 170 sure you can get a 190 in it but why give yourself more of a headache than needed. Start with a container meant for the size you are jumping so packing is easier, you will get good a packing but most do not start out there. There is cost to consider as buying it new is a lot more $ and you could spend the extra $ on jumping. Kirk He's dead Jim
  7. I personally always wear two altimeters(one digital and one analog), mainly incase someone on the plane needs one. Usually about 3 times a year I lone them out on the plane. Kirk He's dead Jim

  9. If you shop around you can pick one up really cheap and for not much money add a pocket slider or a domed slider to tame the opennings. The Sabre 1 is a great canopy if you tame the openings, it is not a swooping machine but that was not what it was designed for either. Last year I bought one with 300 jumps for $285 and added a domed slider for $60 now it takes about 800 feet to open and flys very nice. Kirk He's dead Jim
  10. I would suggest keeping your eye out for an old Sabre. I jump a VX109 normally loaded 2.2:1 and have about 200 wingsuit jumps on it. I recently purchase an old Saber 135 for wingsuiting with 300 jumps on it, to get it fully set up with a domed slider, on risers, D-bag, pilot chute I was in it $600 total. Kirk He's dead Jim
  11. I am not sure what dropzones you have been to or are talking about, but the dropzone I work at that would not be tolerated at all. I would also suggest to any TI that thinks pulling lower is safe try having a bag lock at pull time. There is nothing like pulling the drogue release and accelerating with no main coming out to get your heart racing. Kirk He's dead Jim
  12. When compairing the Century lens to the Royal, it appeared to me to be a little wider but I guess it is a tad narrower. I just took the pictures below with each lens and I think anyone could see the major diference in the quality. Kirk He's dead Jim
  13. A century .3 fisheye lens has a wider field of view then the .2 Royal lens by just a little bit, but the clarity of the glass is definitely noticeable. I just switched to the Century lens from the .2 Royal do to the clarity difference. Kirk He's dead Jim
  14. I have used these for about the last 6 yearsB40They are cheaper and in about 400 skydives a year I go through 1 to 2 pairs . They fit well and have foam gasket. I tried once to use a very good fitting pair of sunglasses and spent the entire skydive in a blurr. Also I find that these allow less air around the eyes then most googles do. Kirk He's dead Jim
  15. I stand corrected, I was thinking of line dump Kirk He's dead Jim
  16. bag strip is when the lines are unstowed prior to line stretch. RDS is Removable Deployment System. These are generally used for competion swooping the D-bag and Pilot chute are attached to a removable slider. When the slider comes down the pilot removes it taking away any drag they may cause Kirk He's dead Jim
  17. There really is not a maximum canopy wingloading for wingsuit flying. However, it is advised to fly a canopy that flies well in line twist. That being said, I use to fly a VX109 loaded at 2:2 to 1(this is not advisable to do) for about 200 wingsuit jumps. I would pull higher to give more cushion if an issue would arrise. After realizing I was always leaving a good 1000 AGL before anyone else in formations I have since change to a more docil canopy Sabre 1 135 loaded at 1.85 to 1 so I can fly the entire skydive. 19. FYI a Troll is someone that starts sh*t just to see what happens and if you truely only have 125 skydives and start jumping a V4 you will probably be dead soon. I hope you only kill yourself and not others in the process. If you do no have life insurance you really should look into soon Kirk He's dead Jim
  20. you are either a troll or a Dead Guy In Training either way it really does not matter because you will either be dead shortly or find a new subject. Hope you have good life insurance so you leave something for your child and wife Kirk He's dead Jim
  21. Just out of curiosity, how many of your 125 jumps are wingsuit jumps? Oh and what dropzone is allowing you to jump a wingsuit ? Kirk He's dead Jim

  23. FYI The Omega was sized wrong, they are 8% smaller than their stated size when comparing to PD canopies or the Omni. Along time ago I asked Icarus for an offical statement on this and they sent me this: The Safire-1 and the Omega are measured differently to PD canopies. As a rough guide a Safire-1 or Omega is about the same size as the next size down - eg A Safire 149 is about a 135. A Safire 119 is about a 109. Use an equation of 8%. The Safire-2 and Omni (Omni supercedes Omega) are measured the same as PD. All other Icarus Canopies are measured the same as PD. The reason for the difference is due to Precision measuring their canopies differently. Icarus have always measured the same as PD however when we originally commenced in the USA, Precision were building parachutes for us under license and were doing it using their size equations and not Icarus/PD's. We have therefore had to wait to supercede these models to change the size equation. Only the Safire and Omega were affected. 24. Gas grills taste horrible in comparision to griling on briquets. If you ever watch any barbequing contest on TV you will never see a gas grill being used also if you will never see anyone using lighter fluid either. I personally do not see why gas grills are so popular. Kirk He's dead Jim
