IMHO, it is the job of the car sales person to screw each and every customer as hard as they can. I have never seen one that didn't. They play hard ball and if you don't you get screwed. Kirk He's dead Jim
  2. Generally something docile and none elliptical.Sabre 1"s work well and if you shop around you can find them cheap and will a minor mod to the slider great opennings . Kirk He's dead Jim
  3. I think a 136 jumps on an elliptical canopy is not a good idea, unless you like pain or not living. Kirk He's dead Jim
  4. In a side spin he last thing you want to do is go into a hard arch. This will put your body farther away from the student creating more blades on a propeller. Once the rotations speed up it will put the student farther away from you so you end up with the student torso, your torso, your legs and the students legs being 4 blads of a propeller. You should watch the side spin instructors video, in a side spin you need to grab hold of the student with your arms and legs, this eleminates more propeller blades Eventually the spin will disapat and you can right the position and throw the drogue. I would say what the instructor did wrong was to keep is arms out and an arch in his upper body, he should have grab his student with his arms. Kirk He's dead Jim
  5. Hells Angels Hmmm I think that one is already taken Kirk He's dead Jim

  7. I think the Sigma rig is a really great rig and better than the Dual Hawk or Vector 2, but it still has it's own set of issues IMHO. Precalapsing the drogue in a bag lock situation there may not be enough drag to release the risers after a cutaway. Also the line used for release the main that is attached to the blue and orange golf ball shrinks, and over time will shrink enough to allow canopy deployment without pulling the handles (yes this is a wear item that needs to be monitored). All that said I still like them better than the others IMHO Kirk He's dead Jim
  8. Anytime a person is around machinery of any kind weather it is a car, plane, tractor, combine, forklift, any automated machinery, or manual machinery that person needs to respect it or they could end up hurt. Yes, I would consider a person not smart for running into a running propeller partly because they should know better and because anytime you are around machines you need to be careful period. Yes, skydivers have it drilled into them to stay away from the front of the plane and always approach one from behind but if any of us actually need to hear that to really know that maybe they should pick another sport. Most every guy I know has worked on a car with the motor running at one point or another but none have stuck their hand into the belts or the fan(why) because they are smarter than that kind of action(not stupid). 9. My last flight physical included a urine test (for what I did not ask), vision test and color blind test. Kirk He's dead Jim
  10. That is definitely a cheaper route to go and works just as good for only fraction of the cost of the other. Plus it is highly popular too Kirk He's dead Jim
  11. I like two piece suits as it is cheaper to replace the pants then the entire suit and there really is not much wear on the jacket anyway(this also allows options for short sleeve shirts too). I buy firefly but what ever brand get reinforced knees and butt, I found that calling the manufacture direct and asking them what measurements they need to place the reinforced knees helps to put them in the right place(they really need to be more on the shin then the knee, when the legstraps are tight). IMHO fire fly does an incredible job on reiforced knees, I ask that they match the stripping on my pants and they are nearly impossible to see the diffenece between the cordura knee and the rest. The attached picture shows the reinforced knees that match the stripping. However Firefly does generally take quite a while to make them but I think they are worth the wait. Kirk He's dead Jim
  12. I have had 2 Sunnto watchs "vectors" stop working for no apparent reason as far as the altimeter goes. What I mean by that is both watchs have reset altitude to 0 on exit (even though they read fine on the way up), both have give erroneous reading in freefall, also both have switched off that screen in freefall too. Also it should be noted even Sunnto does not recommend them for skydiving. L & B has finally figured out mounting for their Viso. They fit inside a plasitc/rubber housing very securely now. 13. Having the right tool for the job is always worth it. If the suit does not fit properly it will build bad habbits/ hender your ability. If the main body of the suit is too tight in the crotch it will not allow you to arch as far as you should be able too, same would be true about the chest. Kirk He's dead Jim
  14. I would think the Z1 Evo would be a horrible helmet to try and put a camcorder on. Maybe it just mine but they fit horribly and move constantly(and yes according to their fit chart I have the correct size). When flying my wingsuit with it the chin strap starts choking me as the helmet is trying to come off behind me. I really doubt even with a chin cup that you could put one on and it be in the same place 2 times in a row. IMHO that is why no one responded Kirk He's dead Jim
  15. My first car was a 1970 slant 6 Barracuda. We bought it for $250 back in 1985 and it needed alot of work. The passanger quarter panel was smashed in. I spent about a year working on it did all the body and paint myself. Eventually I put a 360 in it with a Hemi 4 speed (pistol grip) and a Dana 60 with 3:55 rear end gears, ralley dash, and dual scooped cuda hood. Great first car and one hell of a police magnet. 16. It is a really bad idea to add anything to the quick ejecotor, adding leverage to a place that was not designed for the added force can cause it to bend the lever (which would keep it from being able to lock). I have personally seen this happen. If you are having difficulties undoing the ejectors just flare the canopy fully then drop the toggles and disconnect. There will be a moment when the canopy surges that there will be no pressure on the connectors. Kirk He's dead Jim
  17. It is always the TI's responsibility to gear check the rig before donning it and on a proper gear check something of that nature would be caught Kirk He's dead Jim
  18. That would be the instructor I was talking about, she is amazing. Kirk He's dead Jim
  19. My first thought is how would one ever deal with a flat spin, with todays wingsuit inflation they can be a handful to deal with(that is with having control of your legs). Kirk He's dead Jim
  20. I do not think that it true you have to be over 6' to get good handicam. One of the best TI's I have met that does incredible handicam is only 5'8" and on landing she keeps the student centered in the frame through the entire flare. Kirk He's dead Jim
  21. I have looked at the waycool lens but IMHO I thought the Royal lens looked better with less fish eye look Kirk He's dead Jim
  22. From the research I have done there are not alot of choices when it comes to .3 or .2 lens or atleast not in high quality lens. I have used a Royal .2 but when I compared that to the Century .3 MKII lens it was very clear that the Century had better optics. While the Century is hugI think it is worth it IMHO Kirk He's dead Jim
  23. Yes, there is a white box that will either be stamped Precision or another symble for the spain plant(if memory serves it would be similar to the USPA symbol of old) Kirk He's dead Jim
  24. If you look on here you will find lots of post on the Safire 1. You are right about the sizing it is 8% smaller than stated size. Also there seems to be two types of Safire 1's, the ones that open softly and have tons of flair power and ones that open hard and have a whole lot less stopping power. Ones that are made in Spain will open great and flare great and it seems that some of the ones made by Precision have issues. My second canopy was a Safire 1 made in Spain, no matter how I packed it I always got great openings. Personally as far as price goes it would depend on where it was made but my guess somewhere around $600 US or so Kirk He's dead Jim
  25. I think you would be suprised, if you only offer video on handicam and still plus video on outside which one is most popular. Kirk He's dead Jim
