Which is beside the point. Step back from the canvas, and squint. Beside what point? HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

Some companies actually do give a damn about their workers. Lincoln HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

I would agree with that except the scope of this thread is about what has taken place in Afghanistan in the last ten years. I was comparing that to civil rights here in the US. You see a parallel between the civil rights movement and the war in afghanistan? Yes. Both are fights that will never be 100% finished with their objective. In both cases their will always be some, like yourself, who claim failure unless the objective is 100% completed. Both are a success in what has already been accomplished. Welcome to the show. Bother reading before you posted? Actually, I did read. Care to comment on what would happen if someone promoted a rodeo just for straights? Kinda like what would happen if someone made a movie titled "Black Men Can't Swim" in response to "White Men Can't Jump". To the best of my knowledge rodeos don't ask for sexual orientation when signing up. While we are at it, if the intent of gay rodeos is to include all participants in all events...why not just call it an "open rodeo"? Why present it as for gays when their intent is obviously not to exclude anyone? Why are there gay rodeos? Because there are gay bulls and broncs? Since these rodeos are for gays, what would happen if someone promoted a "straight" rodeo? Your mom should have hired you a math tutor. Blues, Dave When 10 years really does arrive maybe he'll post his 11 or 12 year thread When the post was first done, I remember thinking WTF the Afganistan war started before 9/11! I had to go and check the dates (Oct 01). Whether it's 10 years or 9, it doesn't refute his argument does it. No one in this thread has been able to do that so far. Except he hasn't explained how whether we invade SA next week has anything to do with success or failure in Afghanistan. Back on topic.... We've been fighting racism in the US for decades but it still exists if even in a small percentage of what it once was. Does that mean our attempts have resulted in failure? Do you not see success in what we have accomplished? It depends on how one defines the terms. It is illegal to use interns in leu of actual workers, at least in terms of the labor law definitions. There is absolutely nothing wrong with volunteers where no quid pro quo is expected by either party, but use of the word intern does imply a qui pro quo and it's illegal to abuse that. Right. Working without pay is only prohibited under a narrow set of circumstances and is intended to prevent unpaid interns from being deceived into doing work others are being paid to do. That is a long, long way from shah's claim that working for free is illegal. I'm still waiting for the documentation of your claim that working for free is illegal. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

Would you care to share with the rest of us anything you have that documents this? I am not aware of any law that prohibits people from working for no compensation. Don't be so sure they would hire you. The world is full of well qualified MBA's that are unemployed and looking for work. It is still very much a buyer's market. 99% of the country could provide their own weapons then. belgian draft prefers the state run his military though rather than pay for it himself... I do provide my own weapons for my personal self defense. Millions of others do as well. Millions choose not to. That is their right. But no single person can pay for the men, women, an equipment needed to protect our country and her interests around the world. what in the name of %&&^$^$^ are you talking about? that statement is not even the slightest bit coherent, relevant or even correct in any context.....what does freedom have to do with healthcare? try again, you failed to even address any of my points but I see you managed to distract a couple of posters.....well done. You wrote, "that is fine, but my point is that I am not willing to give up Constitutional freedoms for 'future bin-ladens'...." I stated that I am not willing to give up my constitutional freedoms for something you want or desire. more correctly, that should read... 'And many, if not most, are not willing to give up our freedoms to pay for our fucking health care.' nice police state you're building over there by the way - you'll fit in well... No, you are wrong...as usual. I am willing to pay for my own healthcare and insurance. but you're not willing to pay for your own defence - you've got a military that does that for you... Totally different situation. The military serves the country as a whole, not each individual independently. Health care treats each individual independently, not the country as a whole. So, are we invading Saudi Arabia next week? And that has what to do with success/failure in Afghanistan? We didn't go into Afghanistan in the name of human rights. We went there out of a matter of national security to hunt down terrorists in the name of making the world a safer place, which it has failed to do, especially for Afghans. To claim that removing the government in the name of human rights makes the mission successful is like claiming that we went to Vietnam because "Charlie don't surf"! The violence and discrimination against women in Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Iran have little to do with the government. It has to do with religion, tradition, sociology, and beliefs. Even installing a "democracy" won't change that because the government will simply reflect the social values of the people. Hence, how dare we claim that our definition of "human rights" is any better than anyone else's when we can't agree domestically on gay marriage, abortion, and the death penalty. It so much easier to define for others what's right and wrong when we can drop bombs on them when we can't even work it out for ourselves, peacefully. Ok, now I understand. You don't feel human rights are worth fighting for and you think that unless a mission completed 100% of it's goals to perfection it is a total failure regardless of any censequential good that was done. Got it. HAMMER: Originally employed as a weapon of war, the hammer nowadays is used as a kind of divining rod to locate the most expensive parts adjacent the object we are trying to hit.

I believe the president does not have that power anymore; the president is a puppet for the military industrial complex primarily due to them paying for him to get there. There will only ever be a willing withdrawal when the geopolitical objective is achieved. I believe you are well aware of this but are not willing to openly admit it as it will put your reason into question and expose your weakness and faults. Freedom, democracy and homeland security has nothing to do with it. Do you know anything about the history of Afghanistan and the seemingly continuous war that has taken place there over the past couple of hundred years? So, in other words, you have zero facts to back you up but lots of (your own) personal opinion. Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one and they all stink.
