Put the poster on the Bonfire? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Thomas Jefferson

"I think the BBC had a TV ad with that guy last year... I'm sure the brits could confirm.... " Brit checking to confirm... Yep the BBC ran a few ads with David Belle doing some spectacular stuff, things got so popular that Channel 4 ran a full programme called "Jump London", it was way cool. We call it "free running" over here. Google for free running, urban freeflow, jump london, Parkeur, David Belle, etc http://www.urbanfreeflow.com/UrbanFreeFlow/urbangraffiti.htm for some video and pics. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. I think in both cases (science/religion) the old adage applies. For those who believe, no explanation is necessary. For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible. It cuts both ways. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Should parents be allowed to pierce their babies' ears?
nacmacfeegle replied to lewmonst's topic in Speakers Corner
They shouldn't, but they should be allowed the choice for cutural/religious reasons (similar to circumcision). I for one would never deliberately do anything to mutilate or disfigure my child in the name of fashion. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "A coordinated exit is essential. " Word. Also a tailgate is really useful, you can haul them out of side exits, but its really, really, difficult. Oh, and make sure you get the inflation of the thing right, otherwise it will pop on the ride up, pressure being lower at altitude and all that science stuff..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. To give complete advice people may need to know your wing loading, currency, and maybe even your DZs altitude.

The license numbers are administered by the countries own organisations, so my UK issued D license number may be duplicated by someone in say the US. UK numbers can stay with you, if you apply for an A, you get the same number B, C, and D, I don't think this is the case in the US. Also, if you come from, lets say Bhutan, your license number is quite likely to be quite low.... Confused? hell, sit down and have a Shiner. I still think its a cool addition though. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. PAL/NTSC convertors, a little help, please
nacmacfeegle replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
"One thing about that, I don't think it converts the signal to PAL," No it doesn't, Scooter, its merely a connector between the composite/SVHS and the 21 or so pins on a SCART. The wee adaptors that come with most camcorders are one way only, these are a little more useful for various footage plundering activities. This won't defeat macrovision etc either, but there are adaptors out there that can. I don't think our American brothers and sisters use an awful lot of SCART connections, but they are very common over here. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Some food for thought here, its a bit out of dat, but makes good reading and there are some phone numbers listed. http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/feb98/areyoucovered.htm -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. The LET 410 is pretty common all over Europe. If there are FAA restrictions on 'ferrin' planes its a real shame. You guys would just love the AN72 (medium/large tailgate jet) that shows up at Vichy, and I'm sure it could pay for itself pretty quickly. The AN2 is fun, but only for novelty value, with its climb rate, you'd be better off using a long ladder. I'm not entirely sure its two pilots we often see on LETs, I seem to recall somebody saying the second guy was a flight engineer, but I'm not certain. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "As much or as little as your experience level deems necessary." That works, or as much or as little effort as your remaining altitude allows. High cutaway, I'm holding onto those handles (stashing them down your jumpsuit is as good a place as any), low cutaway or transfer, I'll probably drop them, and get ready to land. You gotta make your own mind up sometimes..... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Just told me he put it on heavy on the first coat. Gotta figure the BEST way to WASH it now." I guess if your friend had searched this forum first, or even read the instructions on the can, he wouldn't be in this situation. Good luck on trying to get the stuff off again, should be interesting. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Good deal Aggiedave. What you need now is a cool video to go along with your stuff. "How would I partition my HDD, and why would this help?" I use "Partition Magic" software. Katiebear got it about right, it lightens the load on the pooter. Premiere and many other similar progs work by creating little preview video files of effects or rendered footage, and then playing all the video files seamlessly one after the other, while simultaneously doing any audio file playback. All this is very intensive on the HD. So, if you can keep the o/s and any programme files separate from titles, stills preview files, audio files and raw footage, it will speed up the drive access time, reducing dropped frames. Of course all this is also intensive on your processor so I recommend you shut down stuff not required for editing. This includes crash guards, virus protection, task schedulers, and a wee thing called Find Fast that comes with MS Office. Which is what I use enditall to manage for me. Somebody mentioned that their Premiere will not run after enditall shut stuff down, I'd recommend they reinstall Premiere and attempt to run it without anything going on in the background, or on the task bar tray thingie at bottom right of the screen. Caveat, do this only if you are having problems, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Yeah, I've done a few for work, filming fire and explosion tests, and the performance of big fire fighting systems. Mostly from fixed cameras and the hard part was presenting it on CDrom, with embedded Powerpoint, Excel, and such like. What the boys said above applies, especially for weddings. This is a specialised field, and you would ideally want someone who knows what they are doing to film and present the thing properly. If you help out and make a less than professional job, you'll be letting your friends down. And its a hassle. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. PAL/NTSC convertors, a little help, please
nacmacfeegle replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
"Thanks. I'll order some scart connectors. " Scart comes in many flavours and varieties, Deuce. One of these will do the job, and it will allow you to pass composite or SVHS analogue signals both ways (switchable) ..... 10 bucks or so. Edit cos I forgot to show a picture...... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Yes, they are using that new chemical. Very errosive. Dy-hydra Oxide." Oooh, I could wax technical about the corrosive properties of the AFFF required to fight large liquid fuelled fires of this type, but that would make me sound like a geek.... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. If Booty's give added stability, why don't freeflyers wear them?
nacmacfeegle replied to Skylark's topic in Freeflying
"Re: [Skylark] If Booty's give added stability, why don't freeflyers wear them?" Not everyone is in the USPA. Even the FAI D license numbers are nationally administered so I'm not sure what benefit this might bring., -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. PAL/NTSC convertors, a little help, please
nacmacfeegle replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
"but I never pass up an opportunity to expose my thirst for knowledge." Or appetite for shiney new toys? Herc Boogie huh? Noice. Okay most modern European PAL tvs and vcrs will take an analogue NTSC signal in and display it. Shame we can't say the same about your crappy NTSC stuff. Its not 'true NTSC' but it will show a picture. So your probably good for debrief and party tapes, the main hassles these days come at edit stage, which I'm sure you can overcome later via a professional standards convertor if needs be. Speak to Schwede his face is all over the video page of the Boogie website. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "yeah i did it, thanks guys you rock" I find it quicker to highlight the text, then just drag it up into the box and wrap " " marks round it. Works for me.

Hi Peter, What are the specs of your computer, and are you shutting everything down so that it is not being distracted by background stuff. Try using 'enditall' Google for it, its free. Google for 'raptest' and use it to check your computer's disc read write speeds. Have you partitioned your hard drive so that the video is being stored on a separate partition from the operating system? For Poland you want the premiere preset for PAL DV. Finally, make sure you have no effects, overlays, transitions, or filters applied, test the system on unaltered footage. Try these, and you may find a more fluid editing experience. Call back if none of this works.
