OK, need help here. I can't decide what to do. One of my teammates is Russian, and we've since made friends with the Russian 8-way team. They invited us to come visit during the Malevsky World Cup meet in Moscow this summer. No, we wouldn't be competing...I wish I was that good! But some fun jumping would be involved, of course. I really want to go...problem is, it's kind of expensive to get over there. I may also never get a chance like this again, since visas and the like will be fast-tracked by the meet people. Another reason to go is the chance to jump with our possible 4th for nationals this year, a legitimate training opportunity. Plus, I'd have a ready-made guide in the form of my teammate, who speaks the language... So spend some money and take the chance to visit somewhere I've always wanted to go, or save money and turn down the opportunity? Well, considering the fact that the only reason I WANT more money right now is so I can afford to skydive more and still take care of my family, I'd have to say... No way in hell. Yeah, the guitar player from Diamond Rio jumps. If they have a concert in your area, listen to the radio, since he usually does a promotional thing where he comes and jumps with a contest winner (the winner does a tandem). I jumped with him when they did a concert in ABQ. It was too windy for tandems, but he still wanted to jump. Really great guy, has 700 jumps or so. We have a beautiful house in the East mountains, about a 25-30 minute drive to Kirtland (85% of which is freeway), that we'll be looking to rent out around that time. 2/3 BR (we use one as a den), 1800 sq ft., 1 acre of land, 2 car garage, separate pantry/laundry room, separate 1800 sq ft shop on the property (about half of which we'll be using for storage, but the rest is for the tenant). On Co-Op water system, so water bills tend to be less than $50 a month. Septic system, propane heating augmented by a pellet stove (like a wood stove but burns cleaner). A/C is by swamp cooler (evaporative) which is standard out here. No price set yet, but looking at around $1400-$1500 a month. I don't know your rank or what your BAH will be....shoot me a PM. I totally agree with everything Adam said. Partly because he's the pusher that got me addicted to the crack that is airlocks in the first place but really because it makes sense. Use your head.
