Yep, just for today and tomorrow. They don't have the money. It costs ~$700K to run an internet station, and their investors for that pulled out. No where else will I be able to fire up my internet and hear G Love and Special Sauce, Primal Scream, and Jet in the same hour on the same station. Crap, they just played "Rock me Amadeus" and I literally broke down. The people at work must think I'm insane! I did a science fair project involving that song, fish, and Pavlov in 6th grade, and I just couldn't handle hearing it. I'm a big sap. Well, on every other message board I participate in, my nick is "Skydiver". That really wouldn't serve to distinguish me here, so I chose a name based on my other hobby, motorcycles. My avatar is the logo from my 4-way team last year, Audacity. I've now unofficially adopted it as my own because it's an awesome logo (thanks Grafico) and my name starts with an A anyway, so why the hell not? Nope, they won't be on the air, either. It's done, done done. Thursday is the last day. They had to sell the frequency to a corporate radio conglomorate because they weren't making enough money. They had planned to keep the web broadcast going, which would have been awesome (note my location), but their investors for that pulled out. to feel grief over a huge part of your childhood and teenage years going away? I'm sitting here listening to the final days of my incredibly awesome independent hometown radio station (over the web) and I literally have tears in my eyes thinking about not hearing it any more after tomorrow. Am I being stupid? This station is a soundtrack to my life. I studied and partied to this station, it was playing the first time I got drunk, the first time I had sex , during thousands of car trips home from concerts in Cinicinnati, and countless other times during my formative years. They don't have the $700,000 a year it will take to keep their web broadcast going. I'm devastated. Is it stupid for me to be crying over this? They're www.woxy.com if you're interested in hearing what you missed over the past 2 decades. I'll just sit here and listen and be sad. I LOVED this movie. Keisha Castle-Hughes definitely deserved her best actress oscar nomination. Definitely one of those hidden gems. But if you like lots of guns and explosions, don't bother. Another good one that no one ever saw is "You Can Count On Me" with Laura Linney, Mark Ruffalo, and Matthew Broderick. Came out in 2000, wone the trophy at the Sundance fesitval. Incredibly written and acted little movie. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

How good does one's RW need to be for coach rating
BikerBabe replied to skipro101's topic in Relative Work
Good point. Probably for every bad one, there are two or three good coaches out there. I'm struggling with this right now, because I'm at a small DZ, and there are some people there who have expressed interest in getting the rating. We DESPERATELY need coaches (we only have one), and our instructors are encouraging it. Problem is, a few of the people have no business getting that rating, they don't bother to practice belly flying, and it worries me. Our instructors are doing their best to follow the ISP, but they are "old-school" and a lot of the info they give, while it works, just isn't designed to make better flyers. It's important we have good coaches, because we only do static line, so there's no other place our students are getting their flying skills. I hate saying anything, either, because I don't want to sound like a snob, but how do I suggest to the freeflyer who wants the coach rating that maybe they should go practice some belly skills? What's your team name? I want to see how you guys do! Are you coming to Nationals? Anyway, another idea that helped us tremendously last year was on a weather day, we walked, talked, and crept through every single block in the dive pool, notebooks in hand. Does your point write stuff down? I have a little box of note cards, one per block, that I update every time I get a new tip or breakthrough on that block. (Not an original idea, I stole it from Craig Girard )... We had already paid for a coach that day, and we figured to make the best of it. If you have a weather day one of these weekends, don't just call it quits, use it to your advantage. That way you'll have at least seen the block on the ground when it comes up in a draw. We also walked through every possible exit that day, as well. We didn't make a single jump, but I still consider it one of my most productive 4-way training days ever (that's including all my tunnel time and airspeed camps!). Nope, I regret to say that's not the case. It would be really high altitude, anyway! The closest DZ is Skydive New Mexico, in Belen. That's about a 2 hr drive from Santa Fe (less if you speed). www.skydivenm.net Skydive El Paso is technically in New Mexico, as well. It's at the Santa Theresa airport, just across the state line from El Paso. About 4 hrs from Santa Fe. Both are Cessna DZs. If you're coming for a visit, let me know, I live in ABQ. Just out of curiosity, how did you hear that there may be a DZ in Santa Fe? Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

May I offer a bit of advice? I know it may be difficult due to your location, but if you can, talk to your team about springing to pay for a coach for a day or two. If you can't get to the tunnel, at least an experienced 4-way person can help you figure out what's going on and possibly offer a different perspective on it, as well as being able to explain it a different way. If it's possible, maybe have your OC sit on the ground for a few jumps while the coach goes up and does the blocks as the point's piece partner...to show him the ropes, so to speak. Then have your point sit down so the OC can fly the blocks with the coach. Just like you'd do in the tunnel, but in the air. Not as much practice time, but it would serve to give a good idea. Not sure how feasible that is for you, but having that different, more experienced perspective will work wonders for you. Good luck! Wow...there are some really incredible shots this week. Photography at it's finest. The Holocaust memorial one with the concrete slabs is amazing. It takes a lot for a photo to grab your eye and not let go, and there were several in there this week. But I voted for the GK, of course! I think it's about time DZ.com flooded this poll. I know there are more than 612 people out there... Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

I'm all for education. The problem is, many people don't have guns, don't know about them, or don't care enough to teach their kids gun safety. I agree with Wendy here. You can raise your kids with guns and all the knowledge in the world about them, but then one day the neighbor kid comes over, finds a loaded gun, and shoots your kid with it because he thinks it's a cool toy. You can't raise that neighbor kid, and you can't assume that your neighbor taught them proper gun safety. So it's back to kid-proofing the guns. Based on the context of the subsequent "information", I would think that the "christian" here is talking about the book of Revelation. There are quite literally hundreds of interpretations of the book which is basically John's description of a vision he had. All of which are probably wrong. I'm a Christian, and I tend to dismiss any "interpretation" of this vision that takes it literally. John himself says it was a dream, and even then people interpreted dreams as symbolic. The guy who quotes Revelation then says "this represents China's army" or any other such nonsense probably hasn't truly studied all of the interpretations out there, because that one is decidedly far from the mainstream. So, basically, this "christian" lost all credibility with me within the first few paragraphs. The "atheist" did, too, but both of them are making hollow, circular arguments (from a purely logical point of view). "The prophecy represents this because obviously, it's there" vs. "Prophecies are always misinterpreted" Neither argument holds water. Same thing further down with the science "arguments". Any good logistician would find a thousand holes in both sides. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

Well, crap. I can't answer this until Snewser puts up his picks. that's www.survivornews.net for all of you with lives. Naw, it's Big Tom, unfortunately. I'm the same way, Dave. My normal body temp actually averages around 96.8 F, my metabolism is slow, as is my resting heart rate. I get cold easily, but I hate hate hate being hot, so if it's above 72 degrees at night, I can't sleep or I wake up sweating. Weird. Block 7. It's supposed to be so easy! Just turn in place. It's all I have to do. I can turn in place by myself. What is it with that block??? I suck at keeping my house clutter-free. I clean (like dusting, mopping, etc). It's just the papers and magazines and crap piles up, and I really don't have time to clean it up. Or enough places to put it all. I suck at dealing judiciously with difficult people. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

I also prefer Go Fast, and I wish I could buy it around here. Of course, they sponsor my hubby and brother in law, so I'm a little biased. Then again, we wouldn't have asked for their sponsorship if we didn't believe in the product. It's a MUCH better mixer than Red Bull, and tastes good with any sort of fruit-flavored alcohol (try it with Parrot Bay or Bacardi O sometime). I think Red Bull is winning because most people can't get their hands on anything better. I think Red Bull tastes like cough medicine, personally, but I'll drink it in a pinch. I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Is the SUV driver going to be charged with anything? Agreed. It's not the motorcycles that are the problem. It's all the other idiots out on the road.
