When I arrived in Portland in 2001 and before and since Mr. H. has been helpful and considerate - he is a great man and I respect him. Jerry and Shelly did take some phone calls and I tried to describe the area (this was prior to 2001) - Jerry claimed there was nothing like I described. I was disappointed Jerry was not there in 2001. The TV crew chose their own guide for whatever reason. I had asked for Jerry to be the quide. I have never met Jerry or Shelly and since Jerry claims the sites do not exist how does that translate into I owe him for what I have. According to Jerry and most of the forum I don't have anything...... If Jerry had been the quide in 2001 I might have been able to show him those areas. As it turned out I spent 4 days and learned nothing, until the truck driver told me about 2 places that last day - and by then the TV crew was gone. What upset me with Jerry was his insistence the places didn't exist and he repeatedly told me I was lieing and I didn't find the places and I had no witnesses. I wasn't lieing and I am not now. Those places do exist. I had one or two communications after the May 2001 trip, but Jerry he was upset with me. I didn't know why so I just let it go. The drift I have gotten since this forum is that the Crew told him I didn't want him there. I now have maps where I can direct him to the approx. locations that I didn't have at that time. I kept talking about a river and it was a lake, but I didn't know that. It was very frustrating. Now things have changed so much that it seems futile. With the maps I now have and my marking the areas - he might be able to locate these area. I know that most of them have developed so much since 2001 (viewing current ariels) and one of the reasons I didn't go out there last yr.besides my not being able to accomplish much on my own and my health. PS for the FBI Ross and Lawrence, Ks - came right back at us - Duane Weber was not there Thanksgiving of 1971, so why did "Margaret" say he was? Note: I only came here to do an update but read the post about Tina and had to make comments. I need verification of something. It has been stated that Duane was with Family on that Thanksgiving. I need to know who the party is who made this claim to the FBI. He was NOT with his ex. or a girlfriend. I have letters and phone calls from every member I could contact yrs ago and NO one knew where Duane was at that time. I expect I know where the story came from and others the FBI should have interviewed have no recollection of Duane being there.I won't go into the details, but the FBI if they were told this - were lied to and they accepted this statement as gospel. They need to talk to the remaing individuals who were there - they should have done this in 1997. I did. I am doing what I should have done yrs ago - get written affidavits and recording. P.S. Sluggo - your post made me realize that time is slipping a way. I have lost some of the witnesses to different parts of Duane's life, but not all. I will only be posting updates on the investigation (not the FBI) that is currently going on. As some of you know the Night Clerk has been videoed and we are obtaining an audio from his wife of the times. She backs up what he has told. If anyone of you have not been to WA get on a plane and go look at the possible landing sites that have been proposed by myself and others. What our investigation entails: Ariels of the 70's have been studied. Current ariels studied. The flight path has been discussed and those contributing hold to the flight pattern as it was reported. The possible routes for Cooper have been checked and mapped - hence the reason for the comparision of ariels. Property records are being studied of crucial locations and prior owners. The background of "industries" that come to play in the Cooper thing are being studied. Finding the history of these places and things are serious clues ignored by the FBI over the last few yrs. in their investigation of Weber and that I have suggested the FBI do. The tie "story" is hopefully going to be revealed. None of this will prove that Weber was Cooper, but there are other things that may do just that. Other suspects - such as McCoy, Gossett, Coffelt, Christiansen, Cooper (TX) and the many others down thru the yrs. have not NOT been as controversial as Weber. I kept trying to connect the dots through speciulation and with technical help where-ever I could obtain it. This forum has been the medium that has led to several pivitol pieces of information. I knew only what I held in my own hand, what Duane told me and the places he showed me. My exploring every theory possible and refusing to be intimidated by threats of lawsuits and worse have driven me to take the measures that I have taken. There is nothing I have done or said that could be considered exploitive or threatening to other parties, yet these threats continued. There is nothing I have done that has harmed anyone - in fact to protect the innocent individuals there is much that has not been exposed. I have not been cruel or crude to others...nor have I threatened them in any way except to say Please Leave Me Alone. I have been called crazy by myself (I started that) and you guys have been wonderful. I take all of the criticism that you guys can dish out because it does help me to look at how others percieve what I say. That is what they call Cyber Space. A place to explore and to work with your ideas and to sort fact from myth. Georger, Orange, Snowmman, Sluggo, 337, Safecrack and 99.99% of you have been wonderful. I can handle put downs, but not threats of lawsuits or exploitation or worse. This thread is a valuable tool - because when the search engines run - anyone looking for information on Cooper comes here. There have been criminal law students who have used this forum for their thesis. It has been used by book writers and just those who want to keep up with what is happening in the Cooper world of suspects. What they cannot glean from this forum - they find me or Himmelsback or go to Sluggos site. I do NOT answer with Weber had to be Cooper. They can judge that for themselves - what they are looking for is the technical information of how or why Cooper could have survived. They have found that NO WHERE but in DROPZONE and this thread. I hope the thread will remain open so that this can continue and should not be destroyed by anyone person. I have tried to keep my posts neutral - and they are never threatening and have tried to curtail any posting other than new information as of the last couple of wks. NO it is NOT. Agent Carr made it clear they would not be talking to the witnesses - it didn't make any difference what I produced. Therefore I have no option, but to find Tina or plaster the "stuff" all over the front of a newpaper or one of those 'Rag" magazines. I have refrained from that kind of behavior although one of them yrs ago picked up the article from the Newpapers - I was not interviewed and refused interviews with them. They made a few unimportant changes of the story so I just let if be like leaves of three. That is not somethng I would subject Tina to so, making the statement I opened with is just my deperation showing. Desperate people take steps they would not under normal circumstances...such as Cooper when he thought - he had no other options. Right now I am not out of options, but the FBI is NOT one of them. Orange, I think Tina should decid.e As for me - I don't care one way or the other - I just want answers and peace. If she did say from what I have to present to her - that Duane was Cooper - then again that will be her choice and if she chooses for it to remain behind closed doors - then so be it. The trip was in 1979 when we lived in CO., Virginia is where McCoy died. In Virgina - A book on Forestry surfaced that had a picture of Duane in it - and he knew these guys. The Norjax book was published, Other books were published during that time but to my knowledge Duane was unaware of them. There was NO witness to the deathbed confession - that was the day after when he was rambliing about the bucket and had medication in him. If there is a signed statement I have no knowledge of it unless Doug Pasternak did it. I do not remember if the FBI interviewed this woman about the Bucket conversation or took a statement. If the FBI has mistakenly stated that she heard the confession the day before then that would only prove that the FBI goofed up this investigation. Had I have understood what he was telling me - I would have found someone else - for him to repeat the story to. They had told him that day he would be deceased in 5 days - had I known who Dan Cooper was - yes, I should have borrowed one from someone...but back then I didn't even think about it. At this point my credibility has NOTHNG to do with my wanting to meet with Tina. If my credibility was involved I would want the meeting recorded - I choose not to do that unless it is her choice to do so. My wanting to meet with Tina has only one reason - because I am the only one who really needs to know if Duane was Cooper or not. I am the one who needs to know if this is all a long series of co-incidences and if I have been in possession of the truth since 1990 - 5 yrs before Duane died. I never dreamed that this would go on for 13 yrs - I thought the FBI would investigate and that would be the end of it. BUT, they lied to me about his background and that was not a good thing to do...that only caused me to dig further and find more and more and more...too much information. Shocking things I never thought I would find (I do not tell the public everything I have learned about Weber). I need to know who I spent 17 yrs of my life with and then 13 more yrs trying to unravel his life...as a result of his confession. For a number of reasons, I don't think that's in anybody's best interest. There should be at least two other neutral parties involved and a tape recorder so later nobody could change their stories. I believe a private meeting is the only way Tina will ever subject herself to this and in her best interest. She has remained obscured and private and I for one understand why. My reason for wanting this meeting - is to have final resolutions - to be at peace and not for the purpose of exploitation. If the exchange did not result in new information on either side then I don't need to spend my valuable time continuing to look for the other needles in the haystack. Should the meeting produce something positive that would help solve the crime - she would be the one to make the decision of going public with it or not. I do not want her placed in the position I have been in all of these yrs having every word scrutinized and criticized. This incident in 1971 has been an emotion burden to her and may have cost her the life she may have had - just as it has affected me these past 13 yrs. Not a writer, not fiction and not a fanasty, Truth sometimes is far more stranger than any fiction someone could envision. Give up on the DNA unless you have access to this politician or his relatives and his security crew from 1968. Wonder if they tested the multiple particial DNA's (that is what CARR said to me) for family links. Guess they would need the mothers DNA for that. DNA testing cost thousands of dollars and it is my understanding the FBI has a very tight budget for such a very old case. Not here to banter just to see what is going on. Do you still swear the places (I described in 2001) do not exist and that I never found them? Do you still insist I did not have witnesses with me? These places do exist. You are the ground man - for Himmelsbach and for others. They depend on you to be right and if you let your own agenda regarding Cooper get in the way then this is never going to be solved. The major problem was your understanding what I was saying was that I thought I was on the Columbia in 1979 with Duane.Yes, we did go to the Columbia on our return trip from Seattle to Tahoe. It was the part of the trip from Hwy 14 to interstate 5 - you were not capable of thinking like a woman who had never been to WA in her life and a mysterious side trip her husband made on that trip in 1979, I told you about his disappearing that morning from The Dalles for several hours and when we finally left there around noon that we CROSSED the Columbia and turned off of Hwy 14 just where the road split off - in 1979 they had widened the road right at Washougal. Back then I didn't know we turned at Washougal - I thought it was further down 14. The only map we had with us was Northwest map of several states and an Atlas. (Remember that Duane did not need a map). Even when I went to WA in 2001 - they provided a guide who didn't have a clue what I was talking about - he took me the directions I thought we went and we ended up in Washougal, but were he was taking me was familiar but not the route or the lake. I knew I was in the general vicinity - I had kept saying river and wide - so all they did was try to take me to rivers. This is why I was so discouraged. The morning after the crew left - I was waiting for my ride (I had arranged to stay an extra night and these people where going to help me find the places). You problaby are unaware of my Angel Udell - a female truck driver. Everyone here knows that story so I will not repeat it. At her instructions and wth the help of a lady who lived on the Columbia in 1971 - I went right to the locations I had spent 4 yrs trying to describe to you. Please be kind enough to think about this with an open mind. It doesn't mean you made a mistake or that your theory about Cooper is wrong. All it does mean is that you couldn't undertand nor could others what I was TRYING to describe to them. I seriously do not think the politicians family would have notice this at all. BUT what you do not know is the family connections to WA state and those of Duane at that time and in the past. I do not know the dates of the family connections to WA. but it is more than co-incidental. I also cannot disclose that information - it is simply a background search on 3 names - showing the times they resided in WA. Duane is not included in that 3. This is something the FBI needs to do and should have done when I told them about certain parties that resided in WA in 1971. One of these 3 denied later a connection to WA, but early on had made statements to the contrary. Service records should confirm two of the WA connections for that time period. If Duane had disappeared (died) in the jump - the family would have made the connection due to the composite, the tie and his background. They knew he was an ex-con and were aware of his criminal activities. I cannot give details - that is the FBI's job - If Carr really wants to solve this - and he CAN'T find the information I am talking about in the file on Duane - then they need to contact me. ? Supposedly Duane took the tie and he was as the story goes working in that Hotel at the time. This was within a short time after he is released from Jefferson - I do not know if he participated in a work release at that time or why a hotel would hire a 6 time felon. This is why I felt he may have had an accomplilce or just managed to acquire the pass key from housekeeping. Therefore an innocent accomplice. (That is theory because all I know is he did work for a hotel in that area and that he claimed to have taken the tie of this politician - This TIE was his PRIZE POSSESSION and the family knew this.) This politician was killed and the very next yr. Duane finds he is ill and his marriage is falling apart and he isn't making any money because he is an ex-con - there is so much more to this part of the story - and it is not good. All the FBI needs are the facts not the sordid details. The FBI just needs to check out the names Duane worked under with a work release and right after discharge from Jefferson. I had pictures of an article on jumpers being trained (3 men) being trained in a program. It disappeared and I have never found it since - none of the men where Duane - at that time I was looking for his exposure to forestry and jumping. ===================== I did not know where the rifle came from but since it showed up in our home AFTER we bought a station wagon (before I never knew what was in the trunk of that car) - the mysterious trip to Memphis before this time - the stating of that was theory trying my best to figure out what Duane's connections to all of that was. And WHY he was so upset about the rifle missing when we got robbed - he didn't use it...and we had been carrying it around for several yrs. The things he told me while we were in Memphis - and handing me a set of keys to the car - telling me if he wasn't back at such a time to take the car and go back to Atlanta - that he would find me. He tells me about a hiding place behind a wall in a bathroom and he tells me about the boarding house and the grill and he knows the owner. What am I supposed to think in retrospect after all of this and my learning about his criminal record. In 1982/1983 when this happened remember I had NO knowledge of his criminal background. I also did not know about his strong connection to James Earl Ray - nor about Jefferson - nor had I talked to the wife of the times. This connection came from my conversations with her in the yrs since Duane died and my finding out who Dan Cooper was. ======================== I am not sure what you mean by the Watergate deal. The tie is just as I explained it. I was told the tie story twice by individuals who knew Duane from the 60's - it was something that was no secret at that time. In 1971 - the FBI did not tell about the tie (not sure when they released that information) and they did NOT make a picture of the tie available to the public until the last 2 yrs. Having heard the story about a tie before - I told the FBI about it. They came up with the DNA results - in which they claimed that there were multiple particial DNA's which "excused" (their word) Duane Weber. Excluded and excused do not mean the same thing. I would be told this story again about the tie - the tie story was well known and something that was discussed prior to the highjacking. Duane separated himself from this past and the story of the tie...almost immediately after the skyjacking. In 1971 the tie being left on the plane was letting his family know who he was if he didn't make it. It was symbolic - eplaining why he did what he did. (That part is Theory - the story of how the tie was acquired is NOT). Forget the theories - look at the facts - and don't feel the least bit sorry for me Orange. Why do you think I have sat on this for so long? I told the FBI and waited for them to do the right thing without my being involved, because it involved other individuals - that hasn't happened. In Jefferson in 1968 there was a tall round hotel - a skyscraper of sorts. This hotel was resident to many politicians and in February or March of 1968 one of the politicians experiened a silent break-in to his room or one occupied by a member of his security team. It is not known if much of value was taken or if this incident was reported by the security team. One item taken during this entry by an employee (or by an accomplice of the employee) was a "TIE" that the perpertator thought belonged to the politician. This "TIE" became a Family Joke. I tried to tell the FBI what I was talking about and did tell them who the politician was - I have been ignored. The taking of this TIE has no known political overviews and probably does not connect to any covert or CIA action. The "TIE" was deliberately left on the plane by Cooper as a message to his family - a sort of "Good-Bye". After the Cooper incident he severed his relations with the family, because he did survive and he feared that one of them would put the "TIE" story together with the composite and he would end up in prison for the rest of his life. Well, the FBI did not at that time make a picture of the TIE available to the public and the original composite that surfaced did not resemble him. He spent the rest of his life avoiding contact with family members from the past and when the new composites surfaced. His memories of a family he abandoned out of self-perservation haunted him many times over the years...but he knew he needed to take his a life in a different direction if he was to stay out of prison. (xxxx - left out but will tell the FBI if they are interested). He felt little remorse over the children whose lives he had affected and he continued to make the same mistakes in those first few yrs. He was mentally living in the past and when the chance came to make his life different - he was for the first time forced to revisit the past. He had met someone who did not want to hear the stories of his past loves - and refused to be a part of his until he could put the past in the past. At her insistence he went to see this woman, but the children were grown and no longer living with their Mother. A few days later he returned to Atlanta, Georgia to begin his new lilfe...He left his old life at the Airport in Ca. As the yrs progressed he wondered what had happened to those children especially the youngest boy - he had learned to feel regret, but if he attempted to contact him it could mean his spending his life in prison if this lad ever connected the composite and the tie.. He couldn't take that chance - so he left the past in the past. There is much more to this story that can and will never be public, but I am willing to talk to the FBI again about who the TIE belonged to. They are afraid it will cause cover-up implications and they choose to ignore me. This politician had made a speech in Jefferson was about the oppressed and our penal system, which today is not muct better. When this man was killed Duane felt there was no chance of any changes for ex-cons to have a better life. Was the TIE also a tribute to the life of this young politician? Was this Coopers grudge? Sluggo: Sluggo you are not taking into account where the thread was a yr ago and where it is now information wise. The media attention was heavy back then - and hence more posters. When the lulls come - it takes trivia to keep things alive. Snowmman does a great job and when he makes mistakes he takes the wet noodle. Lots of people check this thread quiet often, but never post. Others don't like to post when things aren't going their way. There are some who babble (perhaps you might include me in that). There are others who aren't happy unless they are calling other posters liars. That kind of behaviour is counter-productive resulting in posts that are repetive and defensive. There is NO way to gain ground and post new information with this kind of behaviour. Rather than stomp on Snowmman for his informative posts - Why not ask certain posters to be refrain from attacking and be considerate to ALL. Name calling or insults are not necessary. You can agree to disagree, but politely 377 is an excellent example of someone who knows how to politely disagree, but never throws out insults or accusations.
