I used to catch myself looking up at my slider after checking for traffic and turing towards the DZ only to find it was already collapsed. And no it was not packed that way. I had not even realized I had reached up and done it.

I would have to agree that cutting out the switch would likely render the whole thing useless. The electronics get the info from the lanc port on the status of the camera. From there I would say that the electronics send current to whatever lights need to be lit according to the camera status. If you were really handy with a multimeter, you might be able to get it to work but I don't know if it is worth the possibility of ending up with some useless wires and silicon.

Whoa. -Doug That was as of June 2001. Also note from the page: "Note: With the introduction of the CYPRES "Field Replaceable Cutter" in March, 1995, there has been a reduced number of accurate activation reports being filed." So in reality there are likely many not on the "saves" document. Plus count activations from just taking it low.

Perhaps it is not possible but I will throw out another idea. Instead of going as far as locking someone completly out of a forum, or locking the entire thread just deny their posting ability to that particular thread. I guess then they would feel "singled out" and complain elsewhere on here though.

Green: standby Red: recording Quick flashing red: After holding the butting for about two seconds indicates camera will switch off when released. Slow flasing green: Standby mode with one or both conditions existing; Low battery, less than 5 minutes of tape remaining or no tape in camera. Alternating red and green: Recording with a low battery or tape condition. Slow flashing red: Camera is in a mode other than "Camera" and not ready to start recording.

What about DZ's or expierenced jumpers telling students or very low time jumpers that they will be "fine" under a canopy that most would consider to be too high of a loading for them.

I just found out that Skytools just changed the lights on the CamEye II. They are now Green and Red instead of Red and Blue. Kinda sucks actually as I am Red-Green colorblind.

Thanks for the info guys.

I was going to say an MT would be a good choice given you are jumping a Dash-135 reserve. I do not know if I would want to overstuff the reserve container like that? Your only talking an inch and a half difference between the two. Anyhow good luck in whatever you decide.

I have a M3 and had a Triathlon 160 packed in it. According to their chart a Spectre, which should be a similar pack volume, 170 is Very Tight, and a 150 is Tight. I had no problems closing the container with the Tri 160. On the other hand I now have a Cobalt 135 and it is definately the smallest canopy that can safely be packed in the M3 (according to it's pack volume). Really the best thing you can do is contact Bill at Mirage and talk to him.

I just found this on their web site...

Ok, so was the problem with the chin cup itself or the straps? Just curious what it was specifically that broke. Is it true that these are lower profile than Boneheads chin cups? thanks again edit: just wanted to add that I am only interested in the chin cup, I already have a helmet to put it on (old style Bonehead with external audible pocket)

Does anyone have one of these or know someone who does? If so how do you like them? And for the record do you know of anyone who has them in stock? I found a pic of one about a week back but now I can't remember where I seen it. It seems pretty nice and I also came across this on a web page "The NVertigoX will soon be available with a chin-cup for added stability, which will be fitted with an emergency release." I was wondering if this release system only came with the helmet and chin cup or it came as a kit when you buy the chin cup only? Thanks.

Sounds like you were "short lined?" This is when the instructor is holding the excess static line in his hands and he does not let it all pay out and open the container. He/she effectively holds some of the static line so "they" are initiating the deployment and not the plane attachment of the SL, thus the term "short line". From what I understand some instructors will do this if a student is becoming unstable on exit. Not to say you were unstable though.

Same here, I am interested in all the vote totals, even if it was for "Mickey Mouse"...

I actually did this last night since my reserve is out of date and I wanted to clean up some of the white areas on my rig with soap and water before jump season gets back into swing. Additionally my CYPRES needs batteries. It was pretty easy. You just gotta be careful and like others said don't pull the units out with the cables. You might need to help getting the control unit and cutter out of the channels by using the cables but most of the force used should be pushing the units out.

I thought I would post this since it is from a manufacturer...

What's the longest stretch of time you've gone between jumps?
Craig replied to Cepheus's topic in The Bonfire
Not counting the 5 months back in 2000 right after I was off student status and winter moved in, longest has been 7 weeks. Right now I stand at 5 1/2 weeks. The winters and spring time are not always kind around here.
