There was a small crop circle West of the airport at Rantoul this year. I noticed it on a chopper jump on the way to altitude.

That sucks! I can relate though, we just recieved notice today that as of November 10th the contract is being pulled for the business I work for. Without the contract the business goes under.

Well, my flight ground instructor was asked the question about firearms in the cockpit by the class. He said he would not like the idea because first and foremost there is another person sitting next to him up there and how much does he REALLY know about them?? FYI he works for Comair and is a CFI/checkride pilot for them.

A low time jumper with aprox. 21 jumps apparently misjudged the wind direction and set up final going downwind by misinterpreting the wind blade. The jumper was on a course that would have landed them clear of the lines but turned about 45 degrees and headed towards them at about 200 feet to "face into the wind" (directly downwind) and the canopy caught the lines. Several electrical arcs occured and the jumper fell about 4 feet onto their back when the canopy slipped off the lines. The jumper was checked out and was alright except for a sore back. It is also apparent that the jumper didn't notice the lines until after the collision even though the location of them is brought to students attention during the FJC, and to this particular jumpers attention again by a coach last weekend. The canopy suffered severe damage to several cells during the strike.

How do you transfer a vhs video to you computer?

If you had a video camera and the ability to get the video from the camera to your PC that would work as well (firewire for example). Record the VHS to (in this example DV since I have tried this) and then send it to an editing/encoding program on the computer. -
Prime time for this question to pop up....and well you asked I always said I would change professions come a certain time, well, almost a year and a half after that point I am still at it. Of course work can suck sometimes but when it starts interfearing with your time off the job it's gets worse. The good thing about sticking around would be the fact that I have been able to become friends with some cool people that wouldn't have happened otherwise. Hopefully when the inevitable happens the latter won't be lost Skydiving, shoot that is the best thing that could have happened for me. Who knows what or where I would be if I didn't start jumping. Like most I wish I would have started sooner!

Hey, cool! I learned to fly RC on one of those Tower Trainers. I have a Hangar 9 1/4 scale (6'1" wingspan) CAP 232 with a Saito 180 for power. A Futaba 8UAF radio (maybe discontinued) and a Great planes Super Skybolt that is about 3/4 completed. I quit flying when I started jumping 2 years ago Maybe some day I will have the money and time to get flying RC again. BTW I met you at SGC a few weeks ago, we were talking last weekend, I was sitting there Sunday watching Phree fight that reserve PC.

Well, with all the stuff posted about the accident and this "brother in law", it likely would not be overly difficult to find out who this person is with a little work. Word will get out about the identity of this now nameless jumper and the rest is a just a guess. I have heard about the lawsuit Billvon is speaking of, what ever happened to the jumpers that brought on the lawsuit? Jumping anymore?

Well, the weather was not so cooperative this afternoon and boredom fell upon a few of the DZ.com members. Specifically Phreezone, Skydiverchick, and Flyboy62000....we were going to get out an old round and play since it was pretty windy but decided to quit while we were ahead. This was the first time encoding a video using Studio 7 so I had a few problems with transitions I added but turned out well otherwise. download the video HERE
