  3. Funny. At Rantoul this year one particular night the first weekend we had partied WAY to hard till 2a.m and I wanted to party more but knew I'd pay in the long run. I was happy I made it that long without getting sick considering we started at about 8 in the evening. I had to wake up way to early to get on a balloon lift (meet by swoop pond at 5:30a.m.). Needless to say 3 hours was not alot of sleep and sober up time at all. I climb out of the tent and feel like total sh!%, seen where someone had puked outside their tent and the stomach starts turning. A buddy gives me some Advil on the walk over to the balloon area that I gag on and spit out. I seriously thought I would lose it that morning but as the pilots started working their magic getting the balloons set up and firing the burners it was like instant sober up. Can't wait till next year to do it all over again!
  4. guess he waited til the smell went away before he felt like drinking again HAHAHA! Ha, I don't know . He is a lightweight for sure! I was rather disappointed at myself this past years New Years party that I passed out on the kitchen table and everyone thought I died or something and people were helping him make it safely outside to puke several times...LMFAO still can't believe I missed that. Oh the party was thrown by the same peoples who the refrigerator incident happened to
  5. I have a friend that pissed in someones fridge once. I guess they swore off drinking for about two years after that.
  6. I use "No Ads" and it works quite well. Some get through but you can add them to the wildcard list to be blocked in the future www.SouthBayPC.com
  7. What's up with that poll?? I do not thing the US 101's can playback PAL. My box says "For NTSC System" I don't know of any settings in the camera that will allow it either.
  8. Oh, it's been a long day! Could have swore that the post was labeled "Geek Dropzones?" I was like WTF?
  9. I have witnessed jumpers pull a 180 toggle hook and swoop a shorter distance than someone pulling minimal double fronts on a straight in approach many times. And to keep the factors somewhat even both canopies were elliptical (in some cases non elliptical riser approaches) and the ones toggle hooking are loaded heavier than the jumpers using risers to build speed. I have just started using double fronts on approach in the last 50 to 60 jumps so I am pretty new to more "higher performance" approach relatively speaking. oops, only helped to get this thread more off topic
  10. I have been to message boards where there is a post with rules/regulations/etc. that stays at the top of the list. After just visiting the Incidents forum and seeing that someone bumped the post with the forums intentions back to the top I thought this might be a possibility for this (incidents) forum. I attached a screen shot of a forum that does this. In this case it is labeled "Announcement", the ones labeled "Sticky" stay at the top regardless as well.
  11. Remember, it is almost certain you alti is lagging a little during freefall, while it would not be once under canopy. Question is how much (I remember such a discussion a while ago). I am going to guess the lag is about 100 to 200 feet
  12. I think alot has to do with temperal? distortion. It seems like you are under the inflating canopy forever at times. Of course that is not to say that nobody ever has 1000 foot openings. FWIW the Lotus has openings like the Samurai, they were not uncomfortable but I personally did not care for them.
  13. But..But I SWEAR I had a 1000 footer yesterday. I was getting worried but I seen 3 center cells and a slider and it opened as I was about to "help" it with rear risers. After the next load up and we got on the ground, Nati was like "I seen you open and Damn I thought my Stilletto sniveled!" Gotta stop pushing that nose back into the center of the pack job!
  14. I took it as not flying himself to the dropzone to jump in a long time. ex. usually uses another form of transportation??
  15. Anyone know where you can get a Works document viewer or convert it to a Word or Wordpad document?
  16. Was this brought to PD's attention and if so what did they have to say? I have a PD reserve from what little I have looked it over I have noticed poor quality control. I notced the same thing on a new Sabre 2 about a month ago. Specifially where some of the B and D lines are twisted several times, while others are not (were talking the cascade). It only takes a second to run a line and see that it is not twisted before tacking. Back to the original subject, what if the lines separated at the suspension lines, that could be big trouble on your last canopy.
  17. Might not be the Best way but I imagine you could pry the two halves apart on the flat side of the grommet. I am not talking prying the two halves apart from the sides, but on the backside. It would likely require a small flat screwdriver working a little at a time. Actually I just took this pic, see below...
  18. Who is to say the tie is not secured to his pants and not just tucked in?
  19. The kill line PC that came with my Mirage allowed you to use a larks head, I replaced it with a smaller diameter Cazer PC and you cannot form the knot.
  20. I seem to recall a discussion about using a soft link for attaching the bridle to the canopy. I was thinking about giving it a try because my d-bag grommets are getting all beat up from the metal link and well now I have a few extra soft links. There will still be the metal ring on the canopy but I figure it might help a little. Any ideas?
  21. Well, I have put a little over a dozen jumps each on the 150 and 135 demos back in July/August so I am already firmilar with the Cobalt. Liked it enough to buy a new 135
  22. Student gear 22 jumps few Manta @ .5 mostly 220's @ .7 Triathlon 160 = 305 @ 1.0 Sabre 150 = 2 @ 1.06 Cobalt 150 = 11 @ 1.06 Cobalt 135 = 16 @ 1.18 Lotus 136 = 2 @ 1.17 Sabre jumps were at jump 227 Cobalt(s) jumps 268-295 Lotus jumps at 298 Just put my new Cobalt 135 in my rig this evening
  23. See attachment, was on the bag my canopy was in..... Great idea but mine arrived fingertrapped and tacked. Also the lines were attached to the line holder with some sort of soft link (not a PD one, these have a metal ring). I opted out and went with PD S-Links cause the ones sent with the canopy looked like smaller spectra plus could only be single wrapped. Curious as to what the strength of these are?
  24. Mine arrived today...8 weeks just FYI
