Normally start buzzing after the second and after about 7 I am surely intoxicated. I generally don't mess with hard liquor cause when I do I have already had some beer and will start feeling pretty bad and probibally puke, also seem to get worse hangovers as well. Actually I got sick at a keg party this past weekend and I have not done that in several years.

About a month ago... 3,000 feet with a 5 second delay....an 5 second PC in tow(no, not a bungee collapsible), and a 500 foot opening. As soon as the slider came down and I turned towards the DZ alti was reading 1,500 ft. ...interesting to say the least.

My profile says Feb. 2001 but I belive that is when HH changed to the new forums. I remember the old forums and would guess I started reading sometime around Summer of 2000. Actually I found some of the archives here --->http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi.

I don't answer the phone at the DZ but have heard and witnessed some funny stuff. If someone calls and has the wrong number "I'm sorry you have the wrong number, would you like to make a skydive?" Or having delivery or pizza guys come in and try to get them to make a skydive. The Red Bull people came one day in some "Urban assult vehicle" as I would call it handing out drinks and we tried to get the girl to do a tandem and would video it for a great promotional vid. (tape some RedBull cans to her hands)

Did you happen to read the discription of this forum?

This is one of the reasons I am going to vote this year. I have come to realize how easy it would be to have unwanted regulations, or worse brought on by the government or other such political BS that could cause lots of change in our sport that may not be in our best intrest. On the other hand maybe I was just tired of spending 40 some dollars a year in dues for just a magazine, and not what is in the best interest of our skydiving community? And really it has not taken much time to figure out who, in my opinion, would be best suited for the positions from the info in Parachutist and the links listed in this thread. I got out of bed this morning knowing pratically nothing about the candidates running, to filling out my ballot with who I though would do a good job representing the sport and listening to what we have to say.

112 jumps in 2001 229 jumps so far this year Jumping slows down between November and March up here in the North. Not alot of jumpers show up cause it is "too cold" and we cannot get the plane off the ground (need 7 to fly normally). Although sometimes the ground is just too wet and soggy for the planes to get around towards Spring. The DZO just aquired a 206 so it will be easier to jump this winter since it will fly with 3 jumpers.

It is now 6 years since I graduated HS and in the past 2 months I have seriously thought about going back to get a degree in Aviation (all the way through to commercial multi-engine instrument + CFI) I so wish I would have taken that route when I left HS since it (flying) has always been what I wanted to do. I dislike the idea of all the General Ed's but I would be involved in aviation courses as well all four years so I think it would be easier to handle. I guess to answer your question, do what YOU feel is right.

It's nice to hear that there are still honest people out there. Rewind back to the WFFC this year. I decided one night to take my 35mm SLR camera with me while partying (bad mistake!!). Anyhow I commence with drinking lots of alcohol and next thing I know I wake up in the morning bright and early and see the balloons launching. Wow, that would be a sweet pic...ummm...wait...OH S*IT! After cussing alot and telling some friends that I lost my $900 camera and lense, I decide to go to the registration tent to see if anyone returned it. I thought I would never see it again but when I walked in the tent and asked a volunteer if a camera had been returned and the reached under the table and OMG that is my camera case! I described the contents and was on my way. In the case was a paper that said "Found by the Landing Strip" (that was the Static C-130 bar). Unfortuneately I was unable to find out exactly who returned it, and they didn't snap any shots of naked women

I have the 2000 edition and it rocked, havent played since putting XP on my desktop last year. I am thinking about getting 2002 Pro. When I was using the 2000 edition it was running on a AMD 533 with 128 megs and an integrated 8MB video. It worked OK but you had to set scenery detail lower to run smoothly. For anyone using 2002 how does it run on your system (what are the specs)?? Thanks. I need something to mess with this winter

What does everyone use for DV capture and editing?
Craig replied to konradptr's topic in Photography and Video
I have recently got ahold of Studio Version 7 (need to find 8) but it works great. I am using it on a Sony laptop, running XP with an 1Gig. Mobile AMD Athlon and 256 MB of memory. Import and export was easy as well as the actual editing. I ran into one problem with a jittery slow-mo, but I think that was caused by a setting on my system or something and haven't gone back to troubleshoot since(have only edited down and rendered back to DV once so far). I know people that are using less powerful machines and are having no problems, so the program seems flexible as far as speed and resources go. -
Corrective measures if premature deployment at door...
Craig replied to Chivo's topic in Safety and Training
Eww, that sent chills down the spine! Very good reason to have different/contrasting colored main and reserve canopies. -
Correct I also close with my pin as you described. Of course I am not positive, but from messing around with the rig on the ground I don't think that the problem is with bridle routing or pin extraction. Just checked to be sure and the closing loop is within Mirage specs for length and I am estimating that it is taking about 2 to 4 pounds to release the bridle, pin, and the velcro piece above the pin. I am still waiting to hear somthing from Mirage but in the meantime I put the 28" collapsible back on that came with the container.
-
No, once the bag leaves the container the deployment is normal.
-
Ya, once I see the bag leaving the container when looking over the shoulder it is only about 1 second until I'm standing up.
-
Good info here. In my case the PC is almost new, you cannot blow through the ZP fabric and meets the criteria for proper construction according to the post by Bill Booth several months back. Also I don't think I mentioned in my post that when watching the bag lift off the lines un-stow smoothly with no hesitation.

I have been having some hesitations lately and own a Mirage G3(to who may not know is similar in construction to the Vector). I am using a 26 inch Cazer PC with about 65 jumps on it , used with a Triathlon 160 and as of 9 jumps ago Cobalt 135. Atair recomends this size PC for their canopy so I ended up purchasing one. In my opinion the PC is pulling the pin, but having difficulty extracting the bagged canopy. When looking back during the hesitations the PC is fully inflated and bridle is tight and at what seems full extension. As a side note a 135 is the smallest canopy Mirage suggests for the M3 so it is not overstuffed. The closing loop is not too tight as far as I am concerned since on the ground the bridle and pin is extracted without having the container leave the ground, but as you are pulling to extract the bag the container almost completely leaves the ground. I am leaving 2 to 3 inches of bridle above the pin and just barely tucking from pin to BOC. I am going to add that lazy throws couldn't be the problem cause after the first hesitation I made sure that I am not getting lazy on throwout. I am just wondering if any riggers have any comments on this. I sent an e-mail to Mirage so I am going to get their opinion on the matter but thought I would post my delimma here as well.
