Unusual Aviation Pictures (cont. from Affordable jet jumps)
Craig replied to Craig's topic in The Bonfire
Okay, found the link... http://www.aviationpics.de/index.html -
If I remember correctly the aircraft pictured was sitting with engines idling. A nearby 757 started to taxi away and blew the container across the ramp which was sucked into the engine. There is a site with a bunch of unusual aviation pictures like the above but I need to go through the bookmarks and find it. By the way, don't do this..........

See attachment in regards to FOD

On Pilatus' web site it lists "para drops" as a role, and has a cabin configuration pic for the drop configuration as well. Maybe it can be modified to support jump operations? It is under the PC-12 Multi-role aircraft.

Not sure, but it might have been the harness cutting off circulation and caused her to pass out. I know of that happening, at least to the point of feeling ill and dizzy.

In my opinion, a pro-tec is going to give the most impact protection. I have a bonehead mindwarp and can imagine it is not going to protect your head all that well in the case of a very hard impact but I still feel it might be better than nothing. Although I wasn't hurt I did "feel" the bump as my head hit the top of the tailgate when launching a dive this past weekend....and heard my dytter beep when launching another dive this weekend when it came in contact with someone and a button pressed. There are also scuff marks and a little paint from the roof of the plane on it as well. Frankly I think the little bumps as stated above are about the only thing most skydiving helmets are good for, oh and cameras if your into that.

On an aviation related note, I thought this was amusing... http://www.im-c.com/conversations.htm

It might be interesting to know if the flap was bulging (or just the bottom lip untucked) when the jumper decided to check it out underneath. If it was indeed bulging it may have been that the pin was bent, pushing out on the flap. When he opened it up it could have broken then. Not to say that anything is impossible, but it seems that the reserve flap would NOT hold the container closed if the pin was already broken prior to the jumper opening the flap. I own a Mirage, and have watched one packed twice now and can say that the springs are strong as hell. I'd be nice to know what comes about with this situation.

A jumper today had a line over and cutaway uneventfully. When the main was back in the hangar it was found that a soft link had failed. These were NOT PD S-links just FYI. Phreezone (no, it was not his cutaway) might have a little more to add above what I know.

For discussion purposes, what makes you think so?

I just looked them up at resellerratings.com. They got a score of 0.83. Thanks but I think I'll stick with dbuys. Good thinking.

I was looking for some editing software to play around with, specifically Ulead Video Studio or Pinnacle Studio. If anyone has any expierence with these programs I'd like to hear. I know there is also a program by Adobe but I'm not sure about it. I was looking back in the archives but figured there might be some new users out there. In any event I'm just interested in what poeple like and why?

Might it be Fat Boy Slim? http://www.lyricsstyle.com/f/fatboyslim/becausewecan.html

Okay, I always get spam mail with various attachments and just end up deleting them. Today I recieved mail with the W32 whatever virus from the "senders" quade skypetey Freefall very likely not the real senders and probibally has sent itself out as these people through someones address book. Just FYI I have never sent an e-mail to any of these people, but someone must have my e-mail addy in addition to those above for me to receive the virus I believe. Wierd thing is the in box these showed up in I usually don't use for an address for the people I know. Just thought I would bring it to whomevers attention.

Of all the mals I think this would have to be the worst (ruling out double mals). One thing to remember is that the BOC pouch is NOT going to be where you are used to finding it. All this providing that the horseshoe is container open, bag out, and PC in its pouch. From what I understand cutting away may not help much if there is not enough drag to release the 3-rings. FWIW this is not to say you shouldn't cut away.

I hope not, but I just came across some info about the company

Well, I just bought a DCR-PC101 for $879 (yes new) from http://www.bestdiscocam.com/productdetail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=SONVPC101 The usual going rate for this cam is around $1,200. I'm not looking to jump it for quite a while so I haven't looked to see if they make d-boxes for them yet but I am sure they will. As far as service goes I called them back up today to confirm the order I placed on line and the guy seemed really cool. I did all the research on that model before calling in. Yes he did give a quite elaborate sales pitch on some items I might want to go with it, specifically a higher capacity battery and a separate charger. He finally talked me into it by knocking $20 of the extra items and gave me his name and extension# and in the future if I need anything I am supposed to get free shipping and price breaks on whatever, hope the latter holds true. Sorry, probibally more info than you was looking for but I was happy so...

Video of an airplane under freefalling formation - link attached

I thought it looked like an aircraft, somthin with a V-tail to me, seemed too fast to be a Bonanza but? -
"Remember, it takes hundred of muscles to smile, but only one to raise the middle finger." --Forgot where I heard that.

Okay, so I'm at the gas station today and decided to get the Red Bull....YUCK. I thought it smelled and tasted like watered down NyQuill. To each their own, does "Go Fast" taste any better? Although I have not seen it around I don't think. If I remember correctly there is a thread somewhere from not too long ago on this subject.

Did a magic carpet with the Muff Brothers, it went off well, except for the high G spinning but it was all good!....Johnny organized.

Agreed. I found on one particular jump without my helmet (and protrack) at brakeoff I started my track and was "anticipating" the pull altitude beeps thinking "hey, I don't have my audible so there will be nothing to hear." I'm glad I was in that "anticipating" mode and altitude aware instead of "waiting" for the protrack to tell me it is time to deploy. Nevertheless it is way to easy to wait for a signal which can be a downfall of an audible. Since then I have moved the brakeoff and pull altitudes down below my planned action so if I hear them before I brakeoff or pull I know to kick myself for not being aware enough.

In my Bi-plane photos I was shocked to see that MY main flap was open when I stood up in the seat. I own a newer Mirage G-3 and have always had the main flap still tucked in when landing. My flaps were checked before boarding by the crew and I felt them myself. The cockpit is cramped with a rig on, couple that with aerobatics and trying to stand up carefully at exit time in a crapmed space and not touch/grab the plane in unappropriate places in a timely manner leaves alot happening at once.

Yesterday evening was SWEET! The C-130, Kerlin in the L-39 Albatross jet, the Bi-Plane, and Rod in the 412 flew in formation for a buzz pass over the swoop pond....really cool is an understatement. A few minutes later two firetrucks set up at the pond and shot two water cannons over the pond and Rod flew through them and gave everyone a good show. He was hovering "on" one of the firetrucks and the crowd loved it. Shot a couple rolls of film, hopefully I can get some of the pics posted sometime soon.
