***Mental note... more 'butt clenching' and other round ass producing exercises down in the gym*** When did having a plummy British accent stop being enough?! Women are just so hard to please these days!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Follow on question from that then, when I just started I got shown over a stripped out rig by a rigger (I forget the type, but odds on it was one of the centres Javelins), and he showed me that there were a bunch of little pockets on the reserve bridle to provide additional drag - surely that would help enough unless: a. They did this but have stopped b. I am having a brain fart and remembering something which never happened...! I shall have to watch closely at my next reserve repack! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Me too - its is soul destroying looking up at the blue skies day after day isn't it!! Still, only 32 days left... Then jumping ALL summer! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Don't even worry about that yet! It will all come when it is time

Still using Pounds and pence - although I'm afraid that shillings went out with decimalisation in 1971! The threat of the Euro is unpleasantly close though. I hate the idea for two reasons: 1. (Ideological) We are a sovereign country and I want my monarchs head on the currency! 2. (Practical) I was based in Germany when they went over to the Euro and almost every single business from supermarkets to taxis used the confusion to raise prices by an average of 37%! Funny thing is, the politicians who want to bring in the Euro do not want a public referendum on it... because they know that they would lose. I thought that elected politicians were supposed to implement the will of the public, not just do what they want?! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I reckon I would probably think I knew a lot more than I did but for two things: 1. a 500 jump friend of mine going in (Perris in Feb - he's doing really well and hopes to be jumping again next year) and even when lying in Hospital refusing to believe that he did anything wrong (low turn) 2. Listening on here. Not that much happens at my home DZ, but on here you get the cumulative experience / incidents etc. from what is going on at 50? 100? different DZs which is obviously a much wider view on what can go wrong. It is not the source of all wisdom, but it does make me think about things which might otherwise never have crossed my mind... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Ok - ante up. How shallow are we on the DZ? I'll start this off by confessing that I check the face first, followed by the rear view... Of course it might be that a few beers changes everything... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Yep - agreed! I arrived home on R&R to find a tube from Shutterfly - photos from the Eloy Boogie! And they rock! Thanks Iwan... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

My favourite has to be in "We were Soldiers" (having brain lcok - that is right?) Young officer walks past the Sgt Maj and says "Good Morning!" Sgt Maj says:- "What are you? The fucking weather man?" I'm longing to try that one out! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

wing loadings for jumpers with 50-100 jumps
damion75 replied to teason's topic in Safety and Training
I notice that this has now become about you... but when it started, this thread was about what you were prepared to advise other people to do. While I would rather that you took more care of yourself and did not take chances with the skydiving fatality statistics, in truth I am more concerned about the newbies who you might encourage to come along on that ride with you. For their sake and their families... please don't 'help' them get canopies that will damage / kill them. No matter how much you think they can handle them. After all, what's the hurry? You have the rest of your life to get better... I think Nathaniel was joking above - I thought it was pretty funny! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
Just a basic sidemount type camera lid really. I have a Z1 Evo but it is pretty flimsy for that and I think I might keep it as it is for learning freefly later. I have considered the mindwarp / pimp from bonehead etc as well but this looked cheaper! I know that the FFX rocks, but it is also more than twice the price... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I have had very mild PTSD in the past but that was related to being in the military, not skydiving. If you want to ask anything specific then feel free to PM - I'm not shy! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

wing loadings for jumpers with 50-100 jumps

As much as anything else, this is the bit I find bizarre! I have asked about getting in to coaching (FS not canopy) in the UK and it is a 300 jump minimum for us apparently. Anyone turning up at my DZ with 190 jumps and claiming to be a 'canopy coach' with sufficient knowledge and experience to teach or advise others would just be laughed at and told to get back in his box! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
Hi I'm Frank and I work in conflict resolution and nation building! In hot places... With no dropzones... But have plenty of leave for jumping afterwards. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Not particularly answering Rick but... I think it might help world perception if Americans were more well travelled / worldly? There is an idea of the US citizen (certainly not all of them, but a lot) as being very insular and not having a wide knowledge of the rest of the world. I read somewhere that something like 50% of Americans do not own a passport. I am sure that this is equally true of parts of Europe, plenty of Africa etc, but the latter do not have the input on the world stage that the US has. Since the average US citizen has (through his/her vote) more of an input into world politics than the average European / African citizen perhaps they might see it as a civic responsibility to know proportionally more about the rest of the world? Just some random thoughts! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I have just found their website: www.skydivinghelmets.net They look quite cool and fairly ergonomic etc... anyone had any experiences? Good/Bad? Prices seem pretty fair... thoughts? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Thanks for that - now I know what they are for I might re-attach them after two years of sitting in a drawer!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Pretty much the same - I wouldn't lend it out to a stranger and it has to be someone I trust. Example? there is one guy on my DZ I know could happily manage my canopy but I have seen the way he treats his own gear and there is no way I would let him get his hands on mine! But friends in need? Who are safe on it? (its not exactly small!) no problem... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I am not going to disagree with GG, since she does this for a living! However, I didnt get the hook knife option since I think they would put it in the webbing over the RHS of the chest? and I prefer it on my leg strap so I just got one off the shelf and slid it on there. Then again - probably wise to have two, since when you need it you don't want to dropit due to shaky hands and be stuck!! They do a very nice quilted back if you are into your comfort and have the $$$... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.
