Mmmmmm - roll mops... my mouth is watering now!

But surely 'nectar' should be something you are prepared to eat... Perhaps this should be moved to the Bonfire...

Congratulations dude! Now... onwards and upwards!! or should that be downwards... ? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

In the UK we would say, "body off Baywatch, face off Crimewatch!" *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

They found 16 warheads. Dating back to the Iran/Iraq war - not the last Gulf war as Fox news claimed. I don't know where Fox get their info but I wouldn't trust them to tell me yesterday's weather! The warheads were scattered rather than stockpiled suggesting that they had been lost for a long time. Oh yes, I almost forgot - they were empty too. They were only identified as chemical weapons by the design and some remaining trace elements. Make of this what you will, just thought you might all be interested... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Since you asked for honest opinions - I think you have answered your own question there. Better to buy the 190 knowing that you can fly the 170 in the future than buy the 170 and not be able to fly again. I am jumping only fractionally more WL than you on your 190 and have been for the last 120 jumps - believe me I am still having a lot of fun on it!

Like sort of a squirrel BASE jump?! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

The table in my log book assumes 109mph for a belly jump (Square1 log) while I have noticed since I got a pro-track that we normally manage an average of 120-125mph. VT1977's rule is a pretty good one, I generally look to get 65 seconds from 13k on my protrack, pulling at 3k. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Cheers dude! 21 days to go... and good choice - ACDC rocks! Aggiedave - I just meant a tune for right now!! A tune for the whole of your life would be too tough a choice... Although if I did have to make that call, I think that 'The Boys are back in town' or 'Schools out for the summer' would be right up there! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I agree with turtle - this is a serious sport, just like Formula One, football etc. Just because it is not a widely seen sport worldwide doesnt make it any easier or less serious - and these costs are peanuts compared to the costs of getting to the top in some other sports. Add on to that that people do die and get seriously injured in other such 'high risk' sports (motorsports for instance) when they try to rush into it without the right training and skill set. This is not a situation unique to skydiving / swooping. Your view of the future seems (I hope!) a little pessimistic. Until only a few months ago I thought that swooping was for maniacs, and the very skilled only. I still think it is only for the very skilled but having just started carving turns into final (on my big assed Spectre!) I now understand why they want to do it, and I hope that in a few years I might have the skill to start getting into that arena. I sincerely hope that you are wrong and that in a few years, the arena is still there! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Yep - people are normally more surprised that I have a tattoo. Of course it normally takes them a little longer to find that out... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Well I'm sitting here at the back of the operations room (Baghdad), where is is ten PM so I have some music on my headphones... Well a great old '80s track comes on, and I have turned it up to enjoy it and then I got a sudden wierd feeling like this is all a film and I have just turned up the soundtrack. If this is going to be the soundtrack, I need something a little more dramatic. Perhaps 'eye of the tiger' by survivor or 'The boys are back in town' which has luckily just come on.

Count me in - I am back in UK on the 17th after six months alcohol free... Take over the new job on the 21st - I could start as I mean to go on and turn up late and hungover! PM sent to M'me Sec... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

... getting high, then going down... I mean the first jump of the day obviously...

I will be living in Woolwich () when I get back to the UK, but still jumping at Nethers pretty much every weekend...

Ok, then we're asking!! And because fair is fair, I am a 40" AA - and I have just started using a trainer bra. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

So...what if you are getting a 'bad feeling' about your next jump?
damion75 replied to Blindpost's topic in The Bonfire
Felt that way - I'm sure we all have. Get up there and do somthing simple. If you let 'the fear' stop you once, then you'll let it happen again. That way lies being a born again whuffo... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
Amen to that!!

Is that the only thing she found in two years?! And did you not do any finding yourself in that time too... Leave her a note, nothing rude - just to tell her where you are going to be, head to the DZ and then she knows where to find you and she can explain it all to you between jumps, including buying a LOT of beer for all the 'firsts' that she probably had while she was away! Get VERY drunk and then make your decision, it will probably be the right one! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Living in a Bubble: The BBC's very own Mideast foreign policy

And so you did, and on a personal level I am extremely impressed, almost awed, by the way you guys managed that both times, but especially in '73. Strength to your arm. I am a sufficiently a pragmatist to accept that might is still often right, but sufficiently an idealist to wish that we could resolve this some other way. As for how far back should we go to determine who owns what... ask the Cypriots!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
True - not one that I can think of... since the Mig 29 is a fighter aircraft...! (Sorry - couldn't resist that one!) You mean apart from the Israelis with their enormously capable 'Merkava' battle tank? Honest professional opinion? (I am in the UK Army in case you did not know) I would go with Israel first - smallish but very capable, followed probably by Egypt. The Saudis are also pretty well equipped, and the Omanis are VERY well trained (we did it!) IMHO the Iranian army might be fairly well equipped but lacks discipline and is insufficiently well trained at the lower levels (platoon / squad etc) to think and act independently - hence the 'human wave' tacticss. I would be interested to hear from anyone who disagrees? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

The ratio of the length to width is the aspect ratio - which is normally listed along with the other technical whatnot. It varies hugely: My spectre is at 2.14 while the Sabre2 150 is 2.58 and the Stilleto 150 is 2.68... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I saw a video in may shot from the ground - I don't know if it is the same one but it was a Birdman / Wingsuit jump and he pulled at 70ft... You can see the canopy open and it is more or less open when he lands... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Just a couple of things I wanted to throw in... Sorry to burst your bubble, but Iran lost that one. (losing the Al Faw peninsula in the process). It proved that Iran had enough indoctrinatable young men (sp?) to form human waves and get wiped out, but not a lot more. Fair enough, but relax everyone - I really don't see that coming!! As for the 8 guys, they looked ok on TV and the Iranian government has said that if they had no 'bad intentions' (sic) that they would be released. As for the navigation... this is the same Corps which 'invaded' Spain a couple of years ago while trying to land a rigid raider boat in Gibraltar!! This should not be such a big surprise... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.
