Actually it is at meetings of University College London... the university itself rarely sits together. And the body is embalmed rather than a skeleton. It also has no head since this was stolen as a prank by the students at Kings College down the road in 1980! They played football with it in Hyde Park... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

wing loadings for jumpers with 50-100 jumps

Don't worry - it was a compliment! Some people may disagree with your style but no-one can say that you don't simply say what needs to be said! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
True, but having read that thread about getting money for BASE jumps the other day, if I DO end up with a ball under mal and have to cut away, at least I should be able to get $150k for it! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I am glad to hear that you are special and therefore no risk to yourself or others. Because as soon as people have their A licences, they magically become really knowledgeable about what they want and what they are capable of. I too have noticed this! I guess he is not THAT good a friend then. *** there is nothing USPA or anybody else can do about it. Apart from the DZO... obviously... Did I sound a bit like Ron there?! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -

I heard the phrase on a radio today, but obviously I have heard the 'Free world' referred to many times before as I am sure we all have. Obivously I know what it is intended to mean: That part of the world not ruled by despots, unelected leaders or Communists () but thinking through it more deeply leads me into two trains of thought: 1. In a free world, everyone gets to do what they want. Some people lust after power and that is what they want, but they can only get it at the expense of the freedom of others. The needs and desires of people in the world are often diametrically opposed so not everyone can have what they want. No real surprises there. 2. In my other train of thought, the ultimate freedom (as I am sure any Texans on here will agree!) is the abnegation of the rule of law. Which is anarchy. In a state of anarchy, it is possible for the strong to take what they want from the weak and there is thus less of a stimulus to produce, since it can be so easily taken away. A nation or world which is not producing anything will end up in a permanent state of war or Mad Max style anarchy as people fight to survive. This will lead to a population drop as people die. So Freedom requires death... I'm sorry I cannot / do not want to link this thread to Iraq, but then it will all just get heated and irrelevant! Anyway, I don't think a Free World is possible, or something that we should want... Thoughts please? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I'm glad that you were specific there! Although for the record, most Brits that I know don't like pompous Brits either! As for hating Americans? That's just stupid. Don't always like everything you guys do... but hate?! I reserve that for the French! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Please do me a favour by filling in the rest of your profile, including your home DZ. So that I can avoid it. I have no desire to share a DZ, let alone a plane, with someone with your attitude. I feel pretty damn lucky, but I am not sure that I actually am. I seem to find myself being absurdly pleased with life, but on reflection just as many shitty things seem to happen to me as to other people that I know... it is just that my mind seems to either filter them out, or reclothe them as something good... Take getting sent to Iraq for 6 months. It sucks... but when I get back (in time for the skydiving season

I would be wary of a PD-170 main (F1-11) with 500 jumps on it. After that many jumps the material will be pretty fragged even if it has been well looked after. There is unlikely to be much flare left in it. Also what Vicki said about the reserve. About the Cypres... WTF? The most likely thing to knock you out in freefall is another jumper doing something stupid! I am not sure where Tandems came into it! Also, by the time your Cypres is programmed to fire (from 750ft downwards) believe me it would be better to have two out than none out. Several DZs are also talking about making AADs mandatory up to C licence or for all jumpers, I know that at least one has. Yes this is a cheap rig, but you get what you pay for sadly! I would save a bit more and get something else.

wing loadings for jumpers with 50-100 jumps
damion75 replied to teason's topic in Safety and Training
Well that's about my size - I jump a Spectre 170 and was recently offered a Stilletto 150 to play with. I backed out - that would be a downsize and a new planform... What do I think about the situation? It's barking mad. A guy with 70 jumps has NO business playing with a Vengeance... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -

Well I do find that I am either at the DZ too little or I am not there often enough... Dude, relax - you think too much! Time for a beer!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
I am not going to make any comments about the quality of life here in Iraq (which is no better or worse than a hundred other 3rd world cities I have seen and lived in - apart from the Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) which I really don't think that the coalition is responsible for! What I will say is PLEASE don't believe about 80% of what you read / see in the media. I was recently on leave in the UK, and watching the news I thought that the country must have fallen apart in my absence! Turned out when I got back that nothing had really changed - looks like the media were always reporting that 'ratings increasing' shit. Good stories, bad stories, none of them tell the whole truth either way. Cynical? Yep - but this is the second time I have seen it REALLY close at hand and I know for a fact that the media only tells you what they want you to know... sorry. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Where to purchase one of those snazzy logbooks?
damion75 replied to Shadowplay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Funny you should mention that... I have one VERY special 'jump' logged... and signed actually! although I didnt log it. Great memories... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
What he said! If it makes sense, and does not sound dangerous, then give it a try... if it sounds risky then confirm... no matter what the numbers of the guy/girl who gave me the advice. There are too many areas in this sport for me to know 'more' about everything I might want to try than anybody and everybody with less jumps than me. Like I can't sitfly for sh*t! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I'm going to go with 'Glory' about the first black regiment in the Civil War. If you can watch the last scene of that without a tear in your eye then you are not as drunk as I normally am after sitting through a 2hr + film! Donnie Darko was also thought provoking! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.
