Perhaps the best solution is a 'benevolent' dictatorship like the system in the Oman? Democracy can't work without at least some education (as Iraq will not doubt discover). Not sure that they would ever go for that! But if they have a little bit better quality of life, some education, some hope of a better future... then perhaps they will focus on that instead of getting angry. I know that there is an old PC109 thread, but it seems to have pretty much died! I ended up with one on an insurance job from my stolen PC105 and I was really not sure about it until it arrived and turned out to have the LANC port and the A/V port on the camera body which people were worried about. However, they ARE on the wrong side (helmet side) of the camera! I reckon that several people must be jumping 109s by now... so how are they and how have you overcome that problem? Cheers! There isn't a place for one; the jumper would have to add it. I've seen some velcro-and-webbing extra-helmet audible holders. I can't seem to buy one, though, so I have to look into making one. Actually it is really easy since the pro-track comes with the holder when you buy it (I expect that the pro-dytter does too) and you can mount that on the outside of the protec over the ear hole by carving a couple of little holes in the plastic to get the cable ties through. It took me about 10 minutes to put the whole thing together and I was not in a hurry! Don't forget to put the little bungees round the holder before you attach it to the helmet though as you can't put them on afterwards and they are really helpful for stopping your investment from falling off! Some people have them mounted inside the earpiece but that is another story and requires cutting of the foam. If you get a second hand one without a holder, talk to your gear store as I bet they could get you one... Hey Kai and Ivan! If I can steal your analogy, I don't think life is a ride - I think it is a whole theme park! If you don't like the ride you're on then hop off and find a new one! Cheesy? perhaps but making a big life change every so often really stops things getting stale. Personally I have been really lucky with my life style and have never lived anywhere more than three years - its all good and just because you move on doesnt mean that you have to leave people behind, just meet some new ones too.

I doubt that there is anything as structured as the discussion here appears to believe. These guys are not exactly card carrying members of a carefully structure organisation. I would expect that it was more a case of a set of 'hard core' members to plan with a network of supporters to provide the goods (weapons, lodgings, money etc) which is probably the 2000 originall quoted but I would be surprised if it was not more. Other than that, the bulk of what the press looks at as 'Al Quaeda' is probably the young and disaffected who can be manipulated to the goals of the leadership. This is the way that most terrorist organisations work. Under those terms, discussion of the 'size' of the organisation is a bit meaningless. The only bits which are valuable to the organisation are the planners and the 'quartermaster' types. All of the others are expendable, the drones if you like. It doesnt matter whether there are 2000 of them or 18000 - the strength of AQ lies with the planners and those who fund / supply them. How to 'beat' them? I don't think it is possible to completely destroy such an organisation, just to cripple it. Removing the key leaders and planners, cutting supplies etc will help, but longer term the answer is to try and reduce the pool of disaffected people for them to tap in to and find their 'foot soldiers'. To that end I think that our money might be better spent on helping out the poorer countries than on such complex and expensive weapons systems (and this coming from a soldier!!) weltpolitik is probably the only way forward. Why are they really attacking us? I think that it has more to do with jealousy than religion - we have, they 'have not' and they want. So they try to destroy what they cannot have... I had always planned to sidemount my new PC109 on my Z1 Evo, but having just tried out a few camera dives using the Centre's Bonehead with chincup and sidemount I am pretty sure that I would like a camera helmet with a chin cup for that added stability. I notice that the adverts claim that the bonehead chin cup can be fitted to 'most open face helmets' but the cheek flaps on the Z1 Evo do not extend very far down.... What I really want to know is if anyone has done this / tried this? Or if I should cut my losses, flog it and buy something else!
