Its an interesting point of view. We (US/UK) forces have several laser weapons in development to destroy sensors etc in aircraft, but politically we can't even think about deploying them yet because they might blind a pilot or navigator. Yet we are allowed to put a missile with 1248 tungsten cubes into their aircraft at mach 2.4 and wipe them out. I am not blind, but I figure most blind people would rather be blind than dead? *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Why are there never any freefly pants in the classifieds when you really need them?!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

No. You have to use time and the 45 degree rule, or borrow some fleas from Kallend. Now do the cats exit BEFORE the belly-flyers? Being a BirdMan, I hope to have as much separation as possible from the cats. Yes, I can see how that could be catastrophic... Sorry - some jokes are inevitable... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

My Tandem Master put his hand on my $#@! just before Exit
damion75 replied to motherhucker's topic in The Bonfire
I couldn't have (and didn't!) put it better myself... Quasimodem, I am delighted that you had a great tandem experience and I really hope that you will continue. None of this is personal, or intended to lessen what you had to say in your thread (which I did read and thought was cool) - it's just a bit of fun!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
Just factored it in to my holiday plans and got the details from Pete Marsden... There is a thread about it in the events and places forum... See you there! Frank. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Chill!! - I thought it was pretty funny! Peace out. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
I guess there might be a risk of the cat tracking into another groups air space then? What is the exit separation for a cat and can you use the 45 degree rule?!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Ah yes. I remember volunteering to lean for Katy! That sort of behaviour is just shocking... and should be encouraged as often as possible!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Where to find a Stepup ring for PC109?
damion75 replied to kozakpeter's topic in Photography and Video
Waycool lenses (Australia) or Royal lens (Max Cohn) both do them although you won't (or didn't used to) find them on the website. Email Max and ask. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
There may be a terminology difference between the US and the UK, but in the UK every lift has a jump master designated who is 'b' licence qualified as a minimum and has certain duties and responsibilities. Students who have complete the 8 x AFF jumps need to complete 10 solo jumps (consolidation or consols) before qualifying, and their JM must be an instructor qualified to dispatch AFF students. can't be a BI/CSI... You learn something new every day!

Because it is Thursday here... ************************************* The Differential Theory of US Armed Forces (Snake Model) Upon Encountering a Snake In The Area of Operations (AO) 1. Infantry: Snake smells them, leaves area. 2. Airborne: Lands on and kills the snake. 3. Armor: Runs over snake, laughs, and looks for more snakes. 4. Aviation: Has Global Positioning Satellite coordinates to snake. Can't find snake. Returns to base for refuel, crew rest and manicure. 5. Ranger: Plays with snake, then eats it. 6. Field Artillery: Kills snake with massive Time On Target barrage with three Forward Artillery Brigades in support. Kills several hundred civilians as unavoidable collateral damage. Mission is considered a success and all participants (i.e., cooks, mechanics and clerks) are awarded Silver Stars. 7. Special Forces: Makes contact with snake, ignores all State Department directives and Theater Commander Rules of Engagement by building rapport with snake and winning its heart and mind. Trains it to kill other snakes. Files enormous travel settlement upon return. 8. Combat Engineer: Studies snake. Prepares in-depth doctrinal thesis in obscure 5 series Field Manual about how to defeat snake using countermobility assets. Complains that maneuver forces don't understand how to properly conduct doctrinal counter-snake ops. 9. Navy SEAL: Expends all ammunition and calls for naval gunfire support in failed attempt to kill snake. Snake bites SEAL and retreats to safety. Hollywood makes fantasy film in which SEALS kill Muslim extremist snakes. 10. Navy: Fires off 50 cruise missiles from various types of ships, kills snake and makes presentation to Senate Appropriations Committee on how Naval forces are the most cost-effective means of anti-snake force projection. 11. Marine: Kills snake by accident while looking for souvenirs. Local civilians demand removal of all US forces from Area of Operations. 12. Marine Recon: Follows snake gets lost. 13. Combat Controllers: Guides snake elsewhere. 14. Para-Rescue Jumper: Wounds snake in initial encounters, then works feverishly to save snake's life. 15. Supply: (NOTICE: Your anti-snake equipment is on backorder.) 16. Transport pilot: Receives call for anti-snake equipment, delivers two weeks after due date. 17. F-15 pilot: Mis-identifies snake as enemy Mil-24 Hind helicopter and engages with missiles. Crew chief paints snakes kill on aircraft. 18. F-16 pilot: Finds snake, drops two CBU-87 cluster bombs, and misses target due to weather. 19. AH-1W Cobra pilot: Unable to locate snake, snakes don't show well on infra-red. Snake starts bonfire to mark Landing Zone. Rotor wash blows snake into fire. 21. B-52 pilot: Pulls ARCLIGHT mission on snake, kills snake and every other living thing within two miles of target. 22. Missile crew: Lays in target coordinates to snake in 20 seconds, but can't receive authorization from National Command Authority to use nuclear weapons. 23. Intelligence officer: Snake? What snake? Only four of 35 indicators of snake activity are currently active. We assess the potential for snake activity as LOW. 24. Judge Advocate General (JAG): Snake declines to bite, citing grounds of professional courtesy. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Rocket, I just thought that you might like to know that I farmed this out around the Joint Ops Centre here (the beating heart of the coalition in Iraq) - we all thought it was pretty funny so thanks!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Confidence is a wonderful thing! Like many AFF grads I hated going out low (like less than 5k!) but in May we took a lift up when there was low cloud and the other guys (all demo qualified) said they would go if we made 1500ft!! I was like WTF?? My Spectre might take that long to open sub terminal!! Anyway, we got 2200ft and I was so relieved that I jumped, pulled when clear and was open in just a few hundred feet. After that, getting out at 2.5-3k doesn't phase me any more!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

More gear training for students?
damion75 replied to damion75's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Winning plan - you can ask HH to put it up in the safety section! Seriously, perhaps one of the gear store gurus or mods might have time to knock up a piece on the basics of how a rig works? -
You forgot to mention photos being taken of the plucked chicken! Funny you should mention ducks... there used to be a thriving duck community down by our chow hall here in Camp Victory (Baghdad). The pond they lived in has been filled in (stagnant water / insects etc) and the ducks have been summarily evicted. A small memorial now stands on the spot, with a plaque on it: Lest we forget - in memorial of the ducks who gave their home in the hopes of a better Iraq I'll have to try and get a photo!

CAREFUL!!! - THIS IS A COMPLETE FALSEHOOD Then why do I see so many fat people at the gym who can push a lot of iron, but can't get rid of that paunch? Of course it does - that is a facile comment. Getting out of bed burns some energy. What I mean is that it is a very inefficient way of getting fit. This is semantics Ergo my point about muscle weighing more than fat. The question here is how to become the thinner guy, and after ten years of military fitness I am unshakeable in my conviction that fitness (not strength, fitness) comes from CV work, and that running, swimming and sports are far more effective than pumping iron. I'll bet you $1,000 that if you max at ten pull-ups with both hands, that you most certainly can not do one pull-up with one hand. Very few people on the face of the earth can do an honest one-handed pull-up. Go try it. It's incredibly difficult to even move an inch. I know, I've tried. And, I can do pull-ups like a madman. Ok, I am only talking about the idle mans holding on to the wrist one handed pull up! Damn straight I can't do one with my other arm hanging by my side!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

cookie composites make a d-box specifically for the PC109. I only know this because I saw it on their website: www.cookiecomposites.com It goes for $260AUD. And that's all I got to say about that... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

No sweat - as a couple of other guys have said, it is mainly a state of mind! We are the only (?) European nation which has not been successfully invaded in nearly 1000 years... We also do not wish to hand over that sovereignty (foreign policy, taxes etc) to some faceless beaurocrat in Brussels!! And a word on the battle of Chesapeake... We didn't lose!! But actually yes, we lost plenty of others... on balance though I reckon the Royal Navy have done pretty well...
