Living in a Bubble: The BBC's very own Mideast foreign policy
damion75 replied to sundevil777's topic in Speakers Corner
Couldnt let this one lie. The point is that pre-1940s there was not a large Jewish population there and the local Arabs did not feel threatened. Now there is, and they have been displaced. How many arab politicians are there standing up for their people's rights in the Knesset? Hmmm. But it DID used to be their country. So might is right? You took the land by force of arms. This is the way things have been done for several thousand years across the world - just don't come crying to the world when the people you beat get pissed off with you... To get this thread back on track, no the BBC is not perfect and unbiased. With so many sides to EVERY story how can they be? But they are better than most. Actually they are permanently slightly anti-government all the time, no matter who the government is because that is where their funding comes from and they do not want to appear as a result to be government stooges, Pravda style. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -

i didn't get much joy from the website etc either. As for accommodation I reckon a tent ought to do the trick! PM'd about travel to Karlovy Vary. -
Good story!! I thought that this thread had died, but clearly there are many secrets out there dying to get out... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

What went wrong? Did he change bike type and size at the same time and then go riding in unfamiliar conditions? Perhaps there should be a checklist... Hope he gets better soon - that shit hurts!!

Interesting question... for one handed activities - squash, er... writing etc, I am fully left handed, but for two handed activities (eating, hockey, cricket etc) I am effectively right handed, since that is the way I was taught to do those things. Some things I can do equally well with either hand. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Some drunks are quite scary! That said, I am quite uneasy around some people when they are sober!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I just played that scenario out in my head... post arrives, Frank opens his letter in the operations centre... edible underwear falls out. There is only one thing for it... "General, could you just stand over there and throw this underwear at me from across the room? Thanks" "No - not like that!!! you big girls blouse!! how did you ever get to be a general!! Throw it like you used to be a swimmer!!" It is almost worth doing... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Knew about it, kept it a secret... in fact I think just about everyone on the DZ knew about it apart from the proposee. Friend of mine planned for ages to propose in the air, it took about a month to get everything right, the right people there, the right weather, to convince her to come up with us (she is a 'shy' skydiver and never wants to risk 'screwing it up' for the rest of us - although when she jumps she is fine! hasn't screwed one yet, but I digress) He and I did a two way during the day to check his drills with the bit of paper (which he had upside down!) and then finally the jump was on. She almost backed out when we invited her up on the 8-way with camera but chilled when we said we were just going to do a high grips star... didnt suspect anything when we hired a camera even though two guys were flying their own in the star. The pilot, CCI, manifest (obviously camera guy) and all of us knew, along with about 1/2 the DZ!! Anyway, it went really well and there was no doubt about her response!! Not many girls actually get to turn cartwheels of joy when they are proposed to but she did!!

Won't people get slightly concerned about all these women producing puppies from nowhere?! There might have to be a government investigation... its a tough and dirty job but I would have to volunteer to front it! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus. -
Spooky - I was just thinking about starting a thread with almost this exact title when I logged on just now. But I was going to call mine Why Aren't you Jumping? My excuse? I am working... and deployed in Iraq. Same excuse as for the previous 5 months. Sorry!! But only an excuse I will be needing for another 3 weekends!! Hooray!! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Most PEOPLE would rather not be blind OR dead. You seem to have missed or ignored that point. We're talking about people who started out as NEITHER. - Actually, we are also talking about people who signed on the dotted line and agreed to risk their lives for whatever reason their governments chose. Military personnel are trained and paid to take risks unacceptable to civilians. As to blinding that pilot... would I do it if he was coming in to drop a load of high explosive on my position or my own troops? In a heartbeat. Big boys games, big boys rules. Live with it. *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

Already been down that road - binned the 'mind blowing sex' because I didn't really like her and ended up getting none for ages!! So on balance I will go with "whatever is on offer"! *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I can't believe that nobody has warned you not to go out on the moors at night, and don't stray from the path!! Don't miss out on Stonehenge (although your kids might not see the point so go after the Herc Boogie) If you can, when heading up to or down from Scotland, stop for a peer in the Lake District (Cumbria) and have tea in Keswick or Windermere. Its gorgeous up there. -
OOoh, OOoh...Pictures please!!!!!!!!!!! ~R+R...I've been working in a zoo too long... Pantless might get me in trouble - your Army guys have no sense of humour!! They aren't even allowed to take their T-shirts off to sunbathe... But I do have some (issue) 'combat' shorts... very 'days of the empire' stuff! I might have to get a shot of those... *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time! A few of the countries who did not join, and were told that they would suffer economically as a result, seem to be doing very nicely thankyou!! Being part of something bigger may have advantages, but less so when you take into account all the hidden agendas of the other countries in the EU. The US situation is quite different in so far as you have a common aim (probably?!) *************** Not one shred of evidence supports the theory that life is serious - look at the platypus.
