  1. If you ordered your helmet almost 6 weeks ago you are looking at about 8 weeks before it ships, which is normal for now. Miami
  2. It's not only about getting out. At 1000' if the engine quits you may need to get out, or you may need to refasten your seatbelt...which you should have time for at that alt. Miami
  3. Alex's answer is it for stills...for some reason I saw only video in the question... Miami
  4. I've seen some people turn the backlight on, but that really washes out the rest of the video and in my opinion does not look very good. Or you can mess with the exposure setting, if your camera will let you, but that will take some trial and error to get figured out. Or you can try it on beach & ski mode (little palm tree looking thing)...I've heard that can help, especially with single element wide angle lenses. I personally fix this problem by flying extremely close to the subject, well within arms length. Fills the screen with mostly the student and/or tandem masters face/body so the auto exposure corrects to them instead of the bright sun behind them. I'm also jumping a .3 for tandem and it doesn't look too bad when I have to fly like that... Hope this helps... Miami
  5. I'm 6'4", my wife is 5'3", and my daughter (at her 2 year check up) is 3' even. Wonder how tall she'll be... Miami
  6. The FF1 is an excellent freefly helmet as well, dual internal audible mounts and extremely comfy! Miami
  7. My first was my first time ever jumping a tandem rig...the solo you have to do before you take anyone. Miami
  8. I believe he is looking for top mount capability. The Azimuth from 2KComposites is fully top mount capable, and a little less expensive. MmmmK. However, since he was lumping it in with a Mindwarp and a Gath I took it to mean a more 'freefly' 2K as well. Me too, just wanted to make sure there was clarification that there are other high quality professional top mount setups available. Miami
  9. Naaa...I use the hell outa my MacBook Pro and I am more than happy with it. I think we all knew it was coming that there would be improvements on future models...I'll only really get depressed when they fit all those extras into the 15.4" version (I didn't really want a 17" anyway...too big for my plans). Miami
  10. Oh yea, definitely...but sometimes when the poop is hitting the fan you have to take care of that student fast. Sometimes you cannot afford to hesitate to figure out where that vidiot is, so they have to be aware that they could be seeing canopies at any time and at any altitude. I'll try and post some screen shots of the .25 in action tonight if I can, but I started with a .3 and ended up much happier with the .25, even for release dives. Miami

  12. Your ultimate responsibility is the student. If you can keep track of the others that is good, but they need to be able to take care of them selves. It's a given that no one, at any time, wants to be even close to being over an aff student or their instructors. Students can pull unexpectedly or an instructor can pull them out at any time. AFF video is definitely a different animal than something like tandem video...the poop hits the fan much more often and an outside vidiot has to be ready at anytime to fly his or her butt off to keep things safe. You should try waycool's .25 if you ever get the chance...I love mine for pov aff video. I certainly agree with you...having that point of view can be invaluable for everyone involved, but you do not want anything that can increase the snag potential (which the FF2 is perfect for ). Miami
  13. Haha, my wife got such a bad case of Mac envy I had to go buy her an iBook to keep her happy. Miami
  14. As long as my student is wearing a rig they take their seatbelt off at 1000' and keep it off for the rest of the ride, unless they have to ride down, then they put it back on at roughly 1500-2000'. Doesn't change for me regardless of what a/c it is. Miami
  15. Because for $300 more we could have had a bigger display, better processor speed, an extra usb2.0 port, a firewire 800 port, a dual layer 8X dvd burner, and probably some other things I can't think of... I might consider it mildly depressing, but I do love mine still! Miami
  16. Ah, cool, didn't even see that ASC is just past Rockmart...that could be another option! Miami
  17. That's good to hear...if I run into a time crunch that looks like my best bet. edit for my lousy spelling Miami
  18. I've got most of the day Saturday for jumping...really could go anywhere... Miami
  19. Oh, so you don't want me to come out there then, is that it? Miami
  20. I'm going to be down in Atlanta, specifically staying in Mableton (west side just outside of the 407 loop), this weekend for a friends wedding...It looks like Skydive the Farm will be the closest dz to where I'll be, is that correct? Any other fun dz's I can visit while I'm down? Thanks! Miami
  21. That's not what a quick release is for. Quick releases are intended for use in non emergency situations where you want to take your video/still off of your helmet and be able to replace it easily and quickly without having to line everything back up. Miami
  22. Apple has now released a 17-inch version of their MacBook Pro...firewire 800 and an extra usb 2.0 port have been added, along with the 8x double layer super drive. Nice. Miami
  23. Story? CRW jump. Now that is an exciting jump! Miami
  24. I think I'm getting too old to jump everything I once wanted to...I hurt my foot jumping over a fence Sat night...sprained it or broke it... Miami
