Don't lump all the blame on the TI...if it's really that important to the vidiot they could always learn to front float the exit to get a face shot... I could only find one example of the type exit I do out of the PAC...you can view it at RealXStream with ID #85315. Really any video of me on there doing a tandem will show how I exit...only some of the videos are mislabeled, but if the TI is wearing a yellow hard helmet and yellow pants/jumpsuit that's me. I've found that, unlike I stated earlier in this thread, that I cannot do the same type exit out of the otter due to the lack of a second step under the door...instead I just do a diving exit most of the time and a poised for special circumstances. edit - ID #17588 shows a better exit, if anyone's interested... Read it again, he was able to exceed the firing speed of an expert cypres at a w/l of 2.45. He exceeded the firing speed of the speed cypres at the 3.1 w/l. Miami

It does sounds pretty cool, but I'm very hesitant to buy something that new. Maybe once it's been out for a while and all the kinks are definitely worked out... Miami

Agreed, but my feelings are that at my experience level if I lose alt awareness I deserve to go in, i.e. it's my own fault. I could, however, be doing everything right and by some outside influence get knocked unconscious...that's why I keep a cypres in my rig. Well that and that my wife and daughter don't agree with me on the deserving to go in if I lose alt awareness. edit for spelling Miami

From what I've heard that version has a really high firing speed! Miami
-
Yea it is... That AltiTrack is one badass piece of equipment though! Miami

Always had a standard cypres...I'm really curious to know what my speeds were during my landings in Colorado, too. edit - profile is correct and currently I do anything from a 90 to a 540, depending on traffic, weather, and spot. It was during a 540 that I got up to 77. Miami

That's my line of thought, too...I only have the damn thing for if I get knocked out. Miami

I wish I could donate 5-6" of my height to a short person.
Miami replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
Dude, no kidding! People who are average height have no idea how good they have it! Not just being 6'4", but having a 37.5" inseam makes it such a pain in the ass for so many things! Long pants have to be special ordered, can't fit on a bike right, not comfy in most cars, even more uncomfortable on commercial flights, hitting my head on everything...I would happily donate a portion of my height! I recently switched to using an AltiTrack...one of the really nifty features on it is the recording of vertical velocity under canopy. It's been registering my landings in the high 60's/low 70's pretty consistently, and yesterday one landing peaked out at 77mph. What do you think, sell my cypres and get a speed version? Miami

More likely the 182 was decending a bit as you were on the step and it happened to be enough to trigger the audible, but hey, it could have been higher pressure air under the wing. Miami

The Schumacher QuickShoe fits up there quite nicely, if you remember from the pictures I posted when you were asking about drilling holes. Check my website (linked below) if you want one. Miami

While the one from Waycool looks extremely nice, 180 just seems way too expensive! The one I got from Competition Helmets is much less expensive ($45 US) and still a very nice cover. Pictures of mine can be seen back in this post. Hope that helps... Miami

Oops...didn't realize I had taken those pics with the strap unsecure. I just fold it across the back of the helmet and tape it down with gaffers tape when not doing stills...no problems with it coming undone. Miami

Check my next post in that same thread, it has the info on the neoprene cover. Miami

This post shows how my 20d is secured, and how the excess is secured during non-still jumps. Hope this helps... Miami

Haha, thought that might raise a little interest... It's called a Camdom, made by Competition Helmets. It's pretty nice, quality isn't too bad, and it is holding up great in freefall. I do suggest spending the extra $5 to get the second window on top...I'm constantly pulling mine away to check my shutter speed. Hope that helps... Miami

Here are some pictures, as requested... Miami

Make sure your cameras are no where near when you drill...carbon fibre dust can kill electronics. Doing this outside is even better. Use something high speed, like a dremel, to make the holes...less likely to chip the epoxy and it cuts through the fibres better. The carbon fibre shouldn't fray away from the hole, but you will likely have some fibres that still stick out into the hole...using a dremel will reduce those. Or you can trim them with an X-acto knife. Use clear nail polish to seal the holes after you are done with them...same thing as when you drilled, you don't want carbon fibres getting into your cameras. Also do a really good job of wiping down any dust left on the helmet itself from the drilling. I have an FF2 with a 20D mounted on top and my plate (Schumacher QuickShoe) is at the very rear of the flat spot on top...sits the weight of the still pretty much center on the helmet. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Hope this helps... Miami

With the student discount the Apple is $400 less ($1799)...does Dell offer student discounts? Miami

Thanks Tom! Site must have just been down earlier. Miami

Trying to get a package to someone at the club but having no luck getting a mailing address. Their website won't open for me...if anyone happens to have it would you please PM it to me? Thanks! Miami

My wife made me upgrade her iBook that we just got her a few months ago to a MacBook, citing the need for more power for her garageband work. She loaded Office for Mac, Skype, and a few script/screen writing programs on it and has had no problems with it at all...quite happy with it in fact! On my MacBook Pro, however, the battery has completely died...lasts maybe 5 minutes off of the charger. Found the exchange program on the apple website and my battery fell under the ones being recalled, so I have a brand spankin new battery on it's way to me. Miami

It's only as miserable as you let it be. While I'm not crazy about doing a bunch of tandems every weekend, I absolutely love doing AFF and video/still work...and they make up most of what I consider my "fun" jumps each year. Your best bet there would be to contact manufacturers you are interested in working with directly...they would be able to lay out qualifications for positions you might be interested in. Miami

Wow...what are the odds of that? Was the pin originally facing away from the bridle? Miami
