Here's an update for anyone with an Intel Mac...Final Cut Studio 5.1 released today as a universal app. Aperture should be right behind it... Miami
-
I think right now your best bet will be to contact your dealer to get it straightened out. I can't tell for sure what might be wrong without seeing it in person...you don't happen to live in Virginia do you? Miami
-
It's not as restricting as you might think. Just for my own personal research, what other reasons kept you from getting an FF2? Thanks! Miami
-
Not necessarily...I've had one customer so far put 9 different pc style cameras in his FF2 built for a pc109. What is custom to each box is the location of the plate, the foam to reduce camera shake, and the rear cutout to access the buttons. I've seen plenty of people use a camera other than the one they had their helmet built for without problems. You may, however, run into problems trying to put a pc style camera in a helmet for an hc, or vice versa. Miami
-
Hmm...hard to tell from the description. Does it seem like something that a reduction in the foam would fix? Miami

I've received FF2's for just about every sony camera, and nearly all have all fit perfectly. Which battery do you have? I do know the largest batteries will not fit under the shell, but the small and medium sized ones should fit fine. Also are you sure you have adjusted your plate properly? You should be able to slide it forward and backward to fit the camera so it's not rubbing. I did have two FF2's come in, both for pc1000's, that the measurements were slightly off for...just had to lengthen the slots to drop the mounting plate about a centimeter and that fixed both. Alerted 2K and the rest were fine. Hope this helps... Miami

Harsh, man, harsh. Would you care to elaborate on why you feel this way about racers? Miami
-
Now what's really cool about that picture is that they are both wearing racers. Miami

My sentiments exactly! Miami

My exit weight on the delta2 was about 200lbs...I wish I still had the video of the landing because I absolutely crashed into the ground. I'm certain a good plf (and being 19) saved me from breaking anything. Miami

The 28mm lens will be more like a 45mm zoom lens on your rebel xt. To get about 28mm wide on your rebel xt you'll need something like a 17-18mm. Miami

One of the canopies made on the evolution from rounds to squares. Wish I had some extra cash around to pick it up...I've wanted to jump one for ages. I did get a jump on a similar wing, called a Delta 2. Hands down scariest jump of my life. Only reason I didn't chop was because my reserve was a belly wart 22 ft flat that I'm pretty sure hadn't been repacked for a year or two. I wasn't the brightest jelly bean in the bag when I was young, but I was tough. Miami

I actually don't own a schumacher bracket...I don't even have a sight on my FF2, since I use it only for fun jumps and pov video on aff/coach jumps. I have worked with them a fair amount and so far they are the best design I've seen for moving the sight after opening. Did they say why they suggested having the sight over your left eye? Only reason I can think of is to keep all the snaggie stuff over by the box. If you have a still on there then that is kind of a moot point. I personally think you should put the sight over, and as close as you can to, your dominant eye and make it as snag proof as you can via trimming posts and gaffers tape (and use plastic screws to mount it with). It seems like with it dead center you should be able to swing it over the left or right eye...just gaff it down and test it if you haven't drilled it already. Miami

My personal sentiments is that when I'm using my FF2 for freeflying I'm not so much "filming" my follow jumpers, but just jumping with them and getting what I get. I may keep my head pointed at certain people or groups more to get more of them on video, but I rarely, if at all, ever go up solely to film others. Kinda along the same lines as when I shoot pov video on aff's...no sight, just get what I get with the .25 lens. When I'm filming tandems, 4-way, AFF (outside vid), etc. I like the sight because I'm there for the sole purpose of capturing the person or people on film, and while the sight is pretty much a back up, it gives me the assurance that I have my subject framed properly. That is why my FF2 has no sight and my Azimuth does. I don't really care much for the paper asshole or the sharpie dot, but that's just my preference...many vidiots use them with great success. Miami
-
Maybe start off without then...you could always add one later when you start doing tandem vids. Miami

Are you really sure you want a ring sight? If it's just for freefly that may be overkill... If you are sure you want one though I really like the newton cross sight (the 6mm one, not the 1/4 inch) and the Schumacher articulating ring sight bracket, I believe both are available from most major gear stores. Hope this helps... Miami

What Strato said...you won't go wrong with pretty much any of the mini-dv cameras from sony, just depends on how much you want to spend. Also you won't go wrong with any of Canon's digital SLR line. I'm mounting a trv70 and a 20d on an Azimuth, which is 2KComposites' top mount camera system. Little less expensive than the FTP and a very nice helmet. PM me if you have questions about it. Hope this helps... Miami

Did I miss it or has someone mentioned alien-8 yet? Always thought a good name for an 8-way team would be alien8rs. Miami

Who did you order through and when did you order it? For the past 15 months (how long I have been working with them), they have always quoted 6-8 weeks delivery time, and even with that most of the helmets I ordered shipped within 6 weeks. I had one problem with a large shipment (10 helmets) getting stuck in customs for a couple of weeks, but otherwise they have been fairly close to their promised date. Your problem definitely does not seem to be the usual to me... As of the new year they have been backed up a bit due to a rush of orders before the price increase, but they have been quoting 8 weeks still. Miami

I've only done a couple of video's on my MacBook Pro and so far no problems at all. Footage is firewired in and edited with iMovie (until FCP goes universal)...machine is dual 2ghz, 1g ram, and 256 video memory. Miami

It slips straight on...to get it off you can pull straight out, but I've found you need to *gently* rock it back and forth as you pull straight out on it...makes it much easier to take off. You have to be gentle because the lens needs to be anchored to take the filter off...and the only place to anchor it is on your camera, and you don't want to go ripping the threads off of your camera! Miami
-
I'm not sure if they do...I haven't come across a royal lens yet to try them on. Since most of these lenses are the same, just packaged/labeled differently, I wouldn't be surprised if they did fit just fine... Miami
-
I have filters on all my video camera's wide angle lenses. They are slip on filters for the way-cool brand of lenses. I've scratched a lens once, a long time ago, most likely on the inside bar of the a/c during climb out. You probably won't ever need one...but if you do put a gouge in an expensive lens you'll be wishing you had it on there. Miami

video tandem question when tandem delays drogue chute
Miami replied to airborne82nd's topic in Photography and Video
This is exactly why videographers are the true "inventors" of freefly, long before people started doing it to look cool. Miami
