My local camera store back in Colorado sold black gaffers tape for $14.50 and colored gaffers tape for $18. edit - that was their price for a 60 yard roll. Miami

PC5 vs PC7 which is better for videography?
Miami replied to WingnutOrange's topic in Photography and Video
I would recommend either a 110 or a 120...I like the lenses on both, they use the M series battery, and while they are a little bigger and heavier than newer cameras, they are really not that bad. Don't know what your budget is but there's a nice looking pc120 on eBay right now with a buy it now at $499. I managed to pick up my pc110 for something like $275 (also on eBay), so if you keep an eye out you might be able to get a good deal somewhere. Hope this helps... Miami -
Here's and older thread with a fun discussion on McDonald's eating. Miami

They had this one at the apple store I visited, seemed like a pretty nice bag and they said it would work fine for the MacBook Pro. Now I'm just trying to find it someplace for a little less...$100 is a little steep I think! Miami

Is it safe to assume that the RAM included in the MacBook Pro is non-ECC RAM? Miami

That's what I am doing so not sure if there is an easier way. There is a cheaper way though...instead of buying an expensive canon remote, buy a cheap one from eBay, like this (but I personally would look for one already in the US, if you know what I mean). Hope this helps... Miami

Wow...now that's a lot better...thanks for the info! Is there any notable difference between the OWC and TechWorks RAM? Miami
-
That's what I was looking at...1 gig of RAM from Apple with the student discount is $270 plus tax. EBay has what appears to be identical RAM for about half that. Instalation instructions look pretty easy...just pop the battery off, unscrew a plate under that, and plug in the new RAM. Miami

You can also use one of Bonehead's shark fin camera mounts. Miami

That's exactly how I had mine before they did the upgrade...only I changed mine to the dual 2.0 after they delayed it for the upgrade so I could have the extra video RAM. It seems pretty easy to put another 1 gig of RAM in these machines, have you shopped around at all or do you plan on buying direct from Apple? edit - Mine seemed to stay in China for a while then sped through the rest and showed up a day before when Apple told me. Nice, you're gonna love it! Which one did you get? Miami

Well, not really impressed with the release. Looks like the big thing is the new Mac mini with Intel chips replacing the old Mac mini. Also an iPod Hi-Fi...stereo setup for the iPod. Cool stuff but no new universal software or iBook goodies (for the wife) like I was hoping... Miami

It sure is fun reading all the speculation about what will be released tomorrow. I'm sure looking forward to seeing what it is! Miami

Damn, I had looked at that page, too. Don't know how I missed that date. Thanks again! Miami

I could not find any info on apple's website, any word when a universal version of FCS will be released? Miami

Is this the thread you speak of? If not it still has a couple posts with some great info...worth a read I think. Miami -

And if you act in the next two days, you can be the first kid on your block with one. Miami

It would be a great tool but it's not economically feasible for a dropzone to have. It could provide clearer instruction to a student over hand signals, but could easily be ignored just like hand signals get ignored. When a student is experiencing sensory overload I believe they tend to block out audible cues before visual cues, so I don't think it should ever completely replace hand signals. That being said...I have jumped on a few lvl 1's where the other instructor had in air communication set up with the student. Each time the student was able to hear and respond very well to the verbal instructions. If they were not so expensive I would love to get one to use for my students. Miami

You are much less of a nuisance going in now with an allergic reaction to fire ants than you would be going in tomorrow with a badly infected recluse bite. As someone who has works in ed's a lot in the past, that's what they are there for, go ahead and go give them a visit now. Miami

Don't know if I would necessarily call it a step backwards...the 20d has a lot more information to write in a shorter period of time. The 10d is taking RAW photos at 6.3mp (or something around there) and taking 3 seconds to take 9 frames. The 20d is taking it's RAW photos at 8.7mp and gets 6 frames off in 1.2 seconds. I see what you mean about the shorter burst but I would more consider it a step sideways. The 30d, on the other hand, is also shooting it's RAW photos at 8.7mp and is able to go 11 frames in 2.2 seconds before it has to write to the card...pretty impressive upgrade if you ask me! Miami

Take a look at Firefly...very well constructed, only velcro is on the cuffs at the wrists and ankles, and they can use rsl shackles for the wing attachment points. I use mine for backflying with tandems frequently. Hope this helps... Miami
-
Agreed, not much of an upgrade, but it should help the price of the 20d drop faster! One feature I do like on the 30d is the almost double the burst capability in RAW...11 frames instead of 6. Being able to change from 5 to 3 fps is kinda neat. Miami

Hey Bryan! Shoot, I should have looked you up when I was in Mt Home, did my last demo for the academy there back in Oct...just forgot you were over there! That was the system I got to play with at the apple store before my MacBook came in, the 20 in iMac. It didn't have as much RAM as you are getting but it was still awesome, I think you'll like it a lot! I just switched to Mac's also and it is so great how easy everything works. As soon as they release a universal Aperture I'm gettin it, so I'll definitely post a review of it. Miami
