Something like this? Miami
-
If your outside lines are longer the inside lines will begin to deflect first during a flare or turn. Having the lines even or with the outer lines a touch shorter seemed to fly best for me. Might be a little different for you so I would suggest sticking with the manufacturers recommendation till you get a little better of a feel for the canopy. Hope this helps... Miami

As long as the length of the steering line from the cateye to the canopy is not changed the openings will be the same. What he is intending will not change this length, only change the amount of slack after the toggles are released (from cateye to toggle), so therefore should not affect the openings. I'm still playing with that myself on my new firebolt (which I am loving btw...got it for a 2nd rig for bird jumps ). As long as you don't make the inboard lines short enough to maintain deflection at full flight the openings should not change. The only difference I have noticed with non-matching lines lengths is the power in the flare. Keeping them even so they both deflect at the same time seems to be the way to go, so if you lengthen your outboards 3 inches, do the same to the inboards (as long as they were equal to begin with). Hope this helps... Miami

Microraven 120-MZ, R-Max 108 on it's way for 2nd rig...although PA adopted PD's method of measuring canopies for the R-Max so the 108 is really more in the neighborhood of a traditionally measured 120. Miami

You might like channel 108 also, Maxim radio. I also like 135 for NPR car talk. Miami

Jumper Separation: What is the norm at your DZ?
Miami replied to CrazyL's topic in Safety and Training
Maybe they have a level and a protractor in the back of the plane for each group to use... Miami -
I think you guys may be over reacting just a tad...just because sony is heading more toward the dvd market does not mean people are going to meet up and have mini-dv bonfires to roast the old stuff out of the market. I think in a way it might actually help our cause, if more wuffos buy the dvd burning cameras they will be more willing to sell their outdated pc-1000's and such. We as skydivers have a high need for something (mini-dv sony cameras) most people could care less about. How long has the pc-100 been discontinued, yet you still see them for sale here and there. Relax...maybe 10 years down the road you won't be able to find a pc-1000 or hc-90, but by then we're all going to be beaming live images down from implanted ocular bionic cameras anyway. Miami

You might be surprised at the wide variety of cameras that will fit in your FF2. Miami

Sirius is what we have...when we were looking at the two it was Howard Stern that pushed us off the fence to Sirius. Very happy with it so far! Miami

So nice to hear all these good things about apples...just got my powerbook g4 last night and am loving it so far! Miami

You have a USPA SIM? Read it. If you don't have it, download it. Miami

Jumper Separation: What is the norm at your DZ?
Miami replied to CrazyL's topic in Safety and Training
I forget what they were exactly...something in the neighborhood of 75knts, and they didn't decrease much until about a grand. All out of the west, too. And yea, pretty much letting them open and get out of the way...did get about 2/10's of a mile separation as well though. It seems like the pac has a little less drag than a porter, but it's been a long time since I've jumped a porter so it's kinda hard to remember... Miami -
Jumper Separation: What is the norm at your DZ?

pac750...very high winds all the way down to about 1k'...crawling across the ground and a very significant amount of drift in freefall. Miami -
Jumper Separation: What is the norm at your DZ?

The norm for me is: More wind, wait longer. Less wind, wait less. This past weekend had a jumprun where the pilots gps indicated a steady 17 knts ground speed...I got out somewhere in the neighborhood of a minute and a half after the group before me. The winds at jump run alt are not the only factor...winds all the way down and on the surface play a part in how long I wait as well. Miami -
Ahh, yea, that does make sense... Well, whatever the reason, mine flew fantastic for me, even while severely overloading it at a high alt dz. Miami

I think the aim was at crw dogs who have frequent reserve rides...ZP will not lose it's porosity after 25-30 rides like an f-111 canopy will. Miami

I'm jumping a 120-mz that I load at about 1:1.8-9 or so...have put one jump on it (after a nasty little line over on my xaos) and landed it at 5500' msl. Did a little over a 90 degree toggle turn for landing and got a 80-100 ft swoop out of it before a nice soft landing. Also just repacked it Saturday...like what was said before, just have to take your time and it really is not much different than anything else (I did try to rush bagging it and it turned into a mess!). Clamps and weights really become your friends! Miami

Will this keep the unit from recording while in freefall? Miami

Instead of retrofitting a caribou just go with a buffalo...would be a very cool jump plane I think... Miami

Now that's an impressive score...I've tried the non-marking method but I just can't do well with it, I'm too used to marking them. Miami
-
Interesting, but I get no sense of accomplishment from cheating. Much rather get the best score I can the legit way... Miami
-
Nope, leaving in just a few minutes though. Should be there tomorrow afternoon. Miami

I've seen someone get a 1 on the beginner...one click and the board cleared itself. Now if I could only get expert to do that for me... Miami
-
That is a tough board (% of mines on expert is 22%, on your custom it's 25%), best I could do it in so far is 220. I'm really trying to break 100 on the expert board, my best so far on it is 105. Miami

Dunno, they have a 12ft fence all around it (or maybe it's around us!) to keep all the riff raff out. Miami
