So now that I'm back in a job that affords me a lot of free time through the day I'm finding ways to kill time...the main one being minesweeper (all the porn is blocked ). It got me thinking though, what kind of scores are other dz.commers getting on the expert level? (Yea, I'm bored) Miami

I had an incident I posted about here. Hope that helps... Miami

Do a search for the FF2 (www.2kcomposites.com) on here, you'll find it is an excellent helmet, and it may save you a decent amount of money (not sure about the VAT since you are in the UK). You can PM me for more details if you are interested. Hope this helps... Miami

Questions like those are exactly the reason I'm going back to school for a degree in photography. Ask me again in a few years and I should be able to answer! Miami

Wear it? I've always traveled with my camera gear in pelican cases (1620's and 1660's for FTN/FTP), and I stick around to watch the inspection in case there is a problem. So far after 10-12 flights I've had no problems with my camera gear getting messed up. Hope this helps... Miami

When I've jumped stitched risers the only big difference I noticed was that it was significantly more difficult to get a good grip on the rears for landing. Otherwise nothing really different. Hope this helps... Miami

I know the dz has to pay per minute of uploaded footage, but there may be other costs involved that I don't know about. Nope. The passenger still gets everything they normally get from a video and stills, the uploaded video is extra, and only takes about 3-4 minutes extra to do. Kelly can really answer your questions better (her contact info is posted above)...I'm just passing on what I learned when she showed it to us. Hope this helps... Miami

Friend has a question about his new PC109

Are they genuine Sony batts or did he pick up some off branders? Miami -
Do not put your canopy in a swimming pool if that is where your water training is done...chlorine can damage your canopy terribly. Only if it is in relatively clean fresh water should you consider getting your main canopy wet. Hope this helps... Miami

Definitely go separate. You should be able to find a camera, cheapo lens, spare battery, and tapes for about a $150 less. Rest of the stuff in that auction is pretty much worthless, not to mention the battery included in it is an off brand POS most likely...and a camera coming out of NY runs a risk of being grey...not a factor for its function but a factor if you need it repaired under warranty. Hope this helps... Miami

Damn, discovered already... Miami

We just started using RealXStream at Skydive Suffolk...its pretty simple to use from the videographers pov. Seems like a great idea, too...a passenger can have their video on the web shortly after their jump and have friends and family anywhere with an internet connection watch it. And it didn't hurt that they have a cool hot chick (Kelly) traveling around to demonstrate and assist with it! Miami

Wow, had actually never seen a sony camera without a lanc port. You can always use an indicator light like this...basically just gives you a red light when the light from your video camera is on. Simple yet effective if you don't have lanc. Hope this helps... Miami

Yes, they are both 30mm. Hope this helps... Miami

Those are really nice looking, and the price sure is right. Any idea if they make them for the 20D? Or for video? I'd be interested if they did... Miami -
Neoprene Cover for Canon Rebel XT (350D)
Miami replied to DeDickeMoops's topic in Photography and Video
Not that I could find...I've taken a couple of stabs at making one myself, but lemme tell ya...it ain't easy!! Now that I'm not in Colorado anymore I don't have access to sewing machines like I did so I may just have to break down and order one. The one way cool makes looks really nice but is kinda pricey...this company makes one that looks pretty good for a fraction of the price. Hope this helps... Miami -
Me either...with the skyhook anyway. Have seen some cutaways with similar systems from very low alt and the reserve achieved inflation in what seemed to be the neighborhood of 40-50ft...barely more than line stretch. The 75ft comment is just off of RWS's website, but if it's the same or similar to the systems I've seen I wouldn't be surprised if it were true or beyond truth. Miami

If that 150 ft. deployment time is accurate, that means the Racer deploys the reserve with RSL in about the same distance as the Skyhook. Interesting. RWS suggests the skyhook gets the reserve out in 75ft...I'd be willing to bet in some situations it's significantly less than that. I don't see a 150ft reserve deployment as anything outlandish from a racer. Miami

Still camera mount-quick release bracket
Miami replied to goobersnuftda's topic in Photography and Video
That looks like a pretty nice piece of equipment...hard to get the details with the little I could piece out from the german though... It looks like it takes a twisting motion to lock/unlock the plate from the base...might not be able to do that in some set-up's (front mounted still cameras, crowded top mounted video/stills). I love seeing all these different mounting systems coming out...hopefully the competition will help drive the cost down a little on some... Miami -

I wouldn't really call it "far from standard" but jumpshack does make their rsl a little different from the rest. The rsl actually connects to both risers to prevent a reserve fire should only one riser release for whatever reason. If in the odd and rare case that your reserve gets deployed followed by your main it is extremely necessary to disconnect one or both of the rsl clips before releasing the main canopy. Not doing so will cause the now cutaway main risers, which are connected to each other with the rsl clips across the front of the reserve, to slide up the reserve lines...potentially choking off the main canopy. The limited testing I've done with this on the ground have all ended with the risers continuing over the reserve and clearing to allow the reserve to re-achieve full inflation. So definitely could cause a ass puckering situation, especially depending on what altitude it happened at. If either or both rsl's are released before the cutaway in the same situation the main departs as normal. If I remember correctly jumpshack offers both the conventional one sided rsl or the dual sided rsl, but I can't remember for sure now. Hope this helps... Miami
