At my last dz we put a leader on every video, dvd or vhs. Each editing station had an extra simple dvd player with the leader dvd in it, we just played it into the recorder (through a panasonic video mixer) and faded to the camera at the end of the leader. Hope this helps... Miami

Those are some really nice quick releases, but man are they pricey! For the base and the simple plate (for just horizontal mounting) you are looking at about $175...if you get the interchangeable plate for horizontal/vertical mounting instead you add another $65 to that. Ouch. Nice brackets though! Miami

You are definitely right, it is each person's choice. I like to pop the still off to take a few shots while they suit up, pop the vid off for a little interview before boarding, pop the still and vid off in the plane to shoot some stills/interview without having to maneuver my entire setup through a crowded plane, and finally pop the stills off again to take a post landing pic or two. Way too much screwing and unscrewing for my taste...and Schumachers mounts are light and low profile and work great! Miami

There are a few that work pretty well for skydiving and can be picked up pretty cheap on eBay. You can look up the specs on a couple different types here. I use the alera and I've heard of people using the apacer, so those may be a place for you to start. Hope this helps... Miami

As someone who jumps an FF1 I would highly recommend it! Just make sure you go through a dealer, there are a few advertising at a significant discount in the classifieds here, to get the best price possible. Hope this helps... Miami

Did you not notice the expected ship date before you ordered? That have listed as such on their website (albeit in rather small lettering). If you don't want to wait you could always change your order to a powerbook G4...but personally I'm thinking this one is worth the wait. Miami

Supply and demand I guess, the opportunities I had to play with it on friend's cameras I was pretty impressed with it. Miami

I don't like it either...really wanted a 10-22mm for my 20D but I'm not willing to now that there are plans to get a full frame like the 5D in the future. I don't want a lens that won't work with all my cameras. Miami
-
In this case, no, you can't. The Canon 10-22mm is built on an EF-S mount (as is the 17-85mm), which is only compatible with the 20D and the Digital Rebels. Hope this helps... Miami

Nice...I like hearing good reviews! It's especially good to hear how the Office suite runs, that's the only software I have for it so far and it's not universal so it'll be run by Rosetta. Thanks for the info! Miami

I would actually go with the Canon 10-22mm lens...much better glass, lower f stop, roughly the same size and weight, little better width and zoom, and USM for faster focusing. Highly worth the extra $140 (and if you dig around a little you can find the Canon lens for $600) in my opinion. Hope this helps... Miami

Those were all over the place in southern florida where I grew up. Not sure of the exact type of spider they are but we always called them crab spiders. edit - had to look it up, they are Gasteracantha cancriformis or elipsoides, aka spiny, crab, or jewel spiders...a type of orbweaver. Miami

I'll just reiterate what Nate already said as he is entirely correct. While the camera is in standby mode hold the cameye button down until you get a rapidly flashing light (different color depending on which model cameye you have) then release the button and the camera shuts off. Tap the record button once to power the camera back up, then tap it again to start recording. Most jumpers I know don't read instructions. Miami

Is something like this what you had in mind? PM me if it is, we can discuss it and if it's something you like I can set you up for a very nice price. Hope this helps... Miami

No confirmation needed, I respect your word. Thats really good to hear that someone with experience can handle a situation like that. Do you think it would had been different had it been shortly after rotation? There are a few factors why they do this...biggest are fuel load and temp. It's not unheard of for them to fly with 2000lbs of fuel on board, and when they get down to 400lbs they are itching for a refuel. The otters they fly are also pretty heavy, I forget which series they are but they have a pretty big O2 system on board and could go for a little further gutting, if I remember correctly. So for safety they came up with a chart based on the current field temp and the current fuel load...and on a hot summer day immediately after a refuel that chart might indicate the max load as 4 jumpers, and thats all they can take. Thats part of the reason they are outfitting all of their otters with -34's...keeps them from having to make insanely small loads in those situations. Miami

Yep, do like JP said. Sometimes a different persons style of measuring will yield different (maybe better) results. If that doesn't work scrap it and get a Racer. Really. You'll be happy you did. Miami

Anyone who has seen or used an FF2 knows they are quite a remarkable helmet, as are all of the helmets made by 2K... Miami

I didn't get much of an opportunity to play with iLife while I had my G4...when the MacBook comes in it'll have to get me by until Adobe gets around to releasing CS3... The features do sound pretty good, really looking forward to getting to play with it. Miami

Ah, I overlooked that...thanks for the clarification! Miami

Wow, that's a hell of a paintjob! Attached is suffolk's pac...much more subdued. Miami

I think it's a different app, but not sure really. Apple photo pro is briefly mentioned in this article, and it looks a little different than aperture. Miami

Are you adjusting the focus manually until it looks to be in focus? A better way to get a good focus with this type of lens is to put your camera on auto focus (and zoomed all the way to wide), let the camera auto focus on an object that is well lit and in range of the subject you will be shooting (I usually use an open area that has object in many ranges to get a good infinity focus), then switch it back to manual. If you don't bump your focus ring (keep it taped down to avoid this), you should have a nice sharp focus for pretty much any distance. This is what I do with my way cool .3 and .25, and what I did with my .45 when I had it. Hope this helps... Miami

Really? To me, that's a deal breaker, and I'm a die hard Mac fan. I guess I'll have to wait a bit to upgrade to the Intel powered Macs. From what I read they took it out because it's not catching on like they thought it would...but if you gotta have it they sell a card for the express card slot, making it a firewire 800, for $19.
