  2. Magenta Mike (that's what he should be called) was with us at Pepperell this past weekend for an absolutely phenomenal few days of flocking. We did some cool shit and even got to hit up the Nashsua wind-tunnel when we had a brief wind hold on Saturday. Anyway, on Sunday we had some glorious clouds that would have made you drool. On one flock we got a little more than a little far out (OK OK we were really out there!) due to clouds, poor navigation, and not wanting to be near tandems when we opened. The DZO had a word with us when we got down (multiple people had already landed out earlier in the day) and said "maybe today isn't a good day to wingsuit"....you should have friggin' seen Mike! "NO NO NO....TODAY IS THE BEST DAY EVER TO WINGSUIT.....YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND". It was priceless and was definitely a Purple Mike moment. Saturday night we went out to a Wingsuit dinner at the Texas RoadHouse and within 30 seconds he was picking up the hostess who must have been all of 17 or 18. He drew her a pic of a wingsuiter with spikey hair and wrote down his name and number. It is amazing to see him in action!
  3. First of all good job in doing what you needed to do to get the jump numbers and skills to make your first WS flight safe and enjoyable. Secondly welcome to the flock. Now.....please 'splain "family month"? Just tell your family that your new bird family needs you too!
  4. So true.....exactly what I told him. Flight = 4.5 hours X 2 = 9. Driving = 24 hours X 2 = 48 hours. What is 39 hours of your life worth Lurch????
  5. When I first started jumping I drove from Boston to Z-Hills in a little over a day. Drove on a Friday from 6:00 A.M. to 11:00 P.M. (Santee South Carolina) then from 7:00 A.M. to about 1:30 P.M. the next day to Z-Hills. I was on a load by 2:00 P.M. and ended up the day with 5 jumps. It was sweet....didn't think I would get there until late Saturday night. After I did the drive I quit my job and started jumping full time....did about 1,000 jumps my first year in the sport
  6. Hey Pink Purple Mike, nice pic of the flock at the Pepperell Boogie in Skydiving magazine. How is it that you weren't in it....oh wait you were....you were just kind of obscured by all the M1's and SM1's.
  7. Jeff.....saw this listing in the dz.com calendar. Details please?
  8. I have never used these programs.....are the easy enough for a reasonably computer literate person to learn? I would love to buy one of these programs and be able to dive engineer flocks at our DZ....so much easier to visualize than on a white board! Thanks for the info.
  9. from Wikipedia: Room and board describes a situation where, in exchange for money, labor or other considerations, a person is provided with a place to live as well as meals ("board") on a comprehensive basis. It also occurs in hotel style accommodation for short stays. Two commonly encountered boards are: Half Board, where the host only provides a breakfast and dinner meal Full Board, where the host provides all three daily meals Another option is: Bed and breakfast, literally, a place to sleep and breakfast provided.

  12. Why are you so bitter? All of your posts are negative, negative, negative with quite a few "fat American" comments? WTF....why are you so unhappy??????
  13. Out of curiosity what problem did Pilatus find with the Porter? I googled it and went to the Pilatus website and could not find anything about it.....
  14. One one of my first jumps off student status I had an altimeter that malfunctioned. The face unattached and shifted couter-clockwise a little bit. When the alti was saying 6,000 I was really at 2,000! This was before audibles were very popular and Cypres was just coming on the market (very early 90's). My eyes told me I was lower so I pullled. When I got down I realized what happened to the friggin' altimeter. Moral of the story for me was to never trust the altimeter 100%....when you think you are low you probably are! I also became one of the first people in New England to buy a Cypres as I was very spooked by this incident because it was one of my first jumps without a student FXC automatic opener.
  15. Fox News has a link to a story that says it was a blue and white single engine Citabria Super Decathlon.
  16. (CNN) -- World aviation record-holder Steve Fossett is missing and a massive search is under way in western Nevada, a Nevada aviation spokeswoman said Tuesday. Fossett took off from a private air strip known as Flying M Ranch, 30 miles south of Yerington, Nevada, at about 6 p.m. local time Monday, with enough fuel for four to five hours of flight, according to the Civil Air Patrol. Civil Air Patrol Maj. Cynthia S. Ryan said authorities are searching hundreds of miles of rugged terrain in western Nevada. They also are analyzing information from radar intelligence to try to track Fossett. Six search aircraft with three-man crews are taking part in the search, and high winds are posing problems, she said. Aircraft from the Naval Air Station Fallon, in Fallon, Nevada, and the California Highway Patrol also are aiding the search.
  17. Thermasilk glove liners under Neuman gloves work wonders. If it is really cold you can also use one of the little heat packs in each glove. The thing I really like about the liners is that they are so thin you can still easily grab all handles without any loss in sensation.
  18. Ricardo, there is a forumn in thread in the "events and places to jump" forum about the requirements Belize and the requirements. I will be at Lebanon at least part of the weekend. See you there.
  19. Any wingsuiters planning on attending the Boogie in Belize?
  20. Rich, do any wingsuiters usually attend the Boogie? NWFlyer, how in the world do you have less than 500 jumps but have over 14,000 posts on DZ.com? Wow.
  21. Cool....hope to see you there. Nik, if you are reading this we miss you and missed you at the boogie!!! When are you coming back for a visit? If not before then you really should come for the Casa boogie next year. Hopefully we can double the size of what we had this year. caw caw.
  22. gotcha. I thought I may have missed a posting with a link to it. You can show me next weekend...or whenever you are out to the DZ again. You jumpin' this weekend? Feeling better? Sore as shit?
