The one thing I dont like about Icarus is they wont release line trim, and spec's. So if you want a reline you have to go through them, also It is my understanding that they wont do the reline themselves, they refere you to a qualified loft that they have given the specs. Even if you buy a line set from them they wont let you know the length's so you have to trust the line set and hope it is right. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

That was a concern of mine, but I read here somewhere, that Ian Bellis decided to go with the type I after the feedback he was getting about the type 3. A lot of canopy manufacturer's use type 3 on main canopies with no problem, but Precision used it on their recalled Raven's, and had a few incedents due to the type 3 tearing. They claim that adding another Bartack fixes the problem, Mike Truffer of skydiving magazine pull tested type 3 tapes and the tape broke on a few tests and the attatchment failed on other's. Can someone with the skydiving magazine report please post it, I dont have that issue anymore. I myself will never jump a reserve that uses type 3 tape for attatchment. Also I am not an authority on this so what I am saying is just what I have read and heard. The best system I have seen used to attatch lines is from a pdf canopy I inspected. Their design is strong as hell but add's pack volume, I think its a worthy sacrifice. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

One hundred Sixty three and all is well

I am the most sore I have ever been in my whole life, I have found muscles that are sore I didn't even know exist. Tired? Extremely, mostly from all the running on the ground, the skydiving part was the easy part, I learned a lot about stretching before you train, it makes a huge difference. After a long hot soak and a nice Massage, I feel a lot better. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
Gus wing is an animal! His camera set up weighs 38lbs, He once had a cutaway and I went to pick him up and I carried his camera for him, I had to change hands a few times walking from the car to the hanger. Also Top mount is nicer on your neck, but I have 1600 jumps with a side mount and I have never had a problem, especially with today's small and leghtweight camera's. For National's I used a 2 camera set up so I had to go top, and I thought it was very uncomfortable, but thats just because I am so used to side. I kept banging the Roll cage on climb out, and my slider got caught on the camera's a bunch of times. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

One hundred Sixty three and all is well

We were averaging a 12 minute turn around. We took off in the dark. The Plane was a Skydive Delands new -34 Pilatus Porter and we were exiting from 5'000 ft. We got a break every 12th to 13th load for about 8 minutes, when the Plane had to fuel. 2 Rig's per person, and two of the fastest packer's around. Oh yeah they had a closer help them. It was all exit training, also the Norgie girls team did 38 jumps with us. We would have gotten the 50 we were trying for, but One of the team members knee was bothering him, he was so intent on doing the 50 he was landing next to the boarding area and paid someone to carry his rig to the packer's and bring him his other rig. That is the Number of jumps I did in the past ten day's. I bought beer, I did my 2000th jump, thursday, and was part of a new unofficial 4way record for the most team Jumps in a day (43). It was a great 10 day's, The Norgies are an awesome team, and they are fun to film, they have a lot of chemistry. Here is the score 10 Days 4 mini Dv tapes 815 Pack jobs/ openings/ landing's No cutaways linetwists ect. One hundred and sixty three jumps (The team did 2 more, but I won't jump in 30 mph winds). But It was fun as Hell!!! Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
Im curious if anyone knows the record for the most team jumps (4way) in a day. Anyone Anyone??? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Cutaway entanglement with Ring site (Non Fatal)
Rdutch replied to Rdutch's topic in Photography and Video
Very true Bill, and since this is another incedent I will post this here, We had skydive U student grab the wrong rig, He was doing a solo so his instructor wasn't involved, but the 200+ Pound man with about 45 jump's grabbed a very small rig belonging to one of the staff cameramen. The rig contained a stilletto 97, how the guy even fit into this rig eludes me as it's owner is about 4'10 and about 100lbs. The jumper realised he grabbed the wrong rig upon opening, and was extra careful, and landed without incedent. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
I would never hot knife an end of a line that is to be fingertrapped. The hard end will cause wear of the line prematurely. Skymonkey is right you cut it with a very sharp pair of sissors at a sharp angle and that will be all you need to do. Once it is inside the fingertrap it will be fine. Need "political help" to build a pond at public airport
Rdutch replied to diveout's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
You could always offer to add drainage, you can never get enough of that. Dont tell em what it's for. Zhills used the Retention for rain water route for their pond, and the Airport was more than happy to let them add retention area. Just complain about standing water and tell them you will pay for the fix. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
Yes that is why I decided to do it. And also because you can only access the settings of the camera by the flip screen Any ideas how long it's going to take? Sony has an online tracking, to find out the progress of the camera repair. If you have the work# Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Cutaway entanglement with Ring site (Non Fatal)
Rdutch replied to Rdutch's topic in Photography and Video
The camera flyer was very experienced, just had bad luck, and made some mistakes. He has since removed his ring site and fixed a small paper circle on his lens (Bought from an office supply store). To all who see this: Jumping a small highly wingloaded canopy add's enough extra risk. Adding a ring site and a video camera dramatically increases that risk, I do it, heck a lot of people do it, you need to access the risk and decide if it is worth it to you. Also a reliable release system for your camera helmet is a must have in this case. Also even though things happen fast in a malfunction with a canopy of this size, you should plan for this and pull high enough to handle any situation i.e at Breakoff. Cutting away and pulling your reserve at almost the same time also isnt a very good idea. Junior could have easily had a serious problem if his reserve opened a litle faster and his main and reserve entangled. I myself like to take a second (Depending on altitude of course) Even though I use a one hand on each handle approach I dont pull both at the same time. With two fatalities last year alone and two such incedents at my Dz in the past 2 months, I am weighing the idea of a ringsite (even though mine is real clean). I definitely have a plan to not watch my cutaway, I have had 2 with a camera and luckily I dont have either on film, I did have a good view of what was below me. Most of all Be Carefull. Cutaway entanglement with Ring site (Non Fatal)
Rdutch replied to Rdutch's topic in Photography and Video
The Jumper was videoing a 4way dive, after an uneventful freefall the jumper deployed his main, a 71sq ft Velocity, which spun up rapidly. He immediately cutaway and pulled his reserve rapidly in succession. His main released and the left riser caught on his ringsite. He notced immediately and pulled it free breaking his ring site. His main flew free and his reserve opened fine. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of! -
Good choice, the Vector3 is a great rig, Is it your first rig? Otions? I like the articulated harness, I wouldn't own a rig without it. And have you looked at the Skyhook? Are you going to get it? Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Right now 2. Yvonne and Gypsy are packing machine's they packed a 4way team and cameraman for 43 jumps in one day, and they were waiting for us to land everytime. Sick I tell you, I think Yvonne packed a 100 rigs today, and didn't show it at all, I looked like I was going to die, she probably jogged 20 miles home. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Hey now dont go throwing the H word. See I love everybody. I am sure you enjoyed (Not saying I didn't, I love to jump) your jumps a lot more than I did. My first 100 jumps will live in my mind forever, the past 100 I did this week, well they are just jump's. Quality over quantity everytime. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

(43) The number of jumps I did today! Here it come's: Damn am I tired, sore and beat. I am a little upset we didn't get the 50 we planned. But I am also relieved, 43 jumps in a day is hard to do, the most work I have done in a day ever. When your so tired, you are landing your canopy straight in, you are definitely beat. But we set a new Dropzone record, and I (If anyone knows please tell) hope this is a sort of record for the most jumps in a day with a 4 way team. Also the Norgie girls did 38 jumps. All in all I know, now I am not in the shape I think I am in, but I did all the jumps, and we had a lot of fun. Would I do it again? Well I will let you know, because they want the 50in a day thing, so maybe it might happen. But Ive done over 130 jumps this week, and they arent holding back on the schedule. Now If I can make up for the school I missed, I can go to Panama City and put all the traingng jumps to use. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Yeah, the Army Golden Knight's. They arent doing so well since the U.s. National's. After a stellar performance in Chicago, they have lost twice, once to Airspeed, and then to Majik and Synapsi (Italy) It's early still, but lets all send our support and hope that they can do a repeat performance of National's. The World meet this year is going to be the toughest competition in a long time with 5 teams all capable of turning a 22 average. It will take the team that performs flawlessly and with a disadvantage to the French who jump a porter primarily, (and I can testify that plane sucks for 4way). Hey this is a Skydiving website, and with all this political talk and support for our troops ect. Lets really support our "Skydiving" troops. Maybe someone can provide an Email address for the Golden knight's and us dz.commers can send them a good luck ect email. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

they migth should be.US is det most agressive nation i know. I dont mind if if were DK that had thouse arms,i think they all should be destroyed.I just cant see why any want thouse weapon. You can migth tell me,while evrybody agree that its a nasty weapon. its ironic..like telling my kid that she cant have candy but eat it my self.. I dont like SH,i do apriciate that US moves in the front to get rid of him,but i think it could have been done in a better way. This is not a personal attack, your English is really hard to understand, and whatever point you are making, is hard to figure out. There is a Spellcheck available, it will help all of us understand you better. Its right next to Post reply. Ray Small and fast what every girl dreams of!

Question to manufactures (Dan, George, others ???)
Rdutch replied to Vlad's topic in Gear and Rigging
The only thing I have a problem with as far as gear manufacturer's is, when you have a problem, admit to it, and fix it. Let everyone know about it also. Not mentioning any name's (and just one case) but if you release a faulty product, it should be your responsability to fix it, not say to your customers "we will fix it at your cost, and it is mandatory. And sorry we messed up". If I had one of these product's it is safe to say it would be the last. Another note, there is some incredible, manufacturer's in the skydiving industry, here is some to note that arent main gear related. Skytools, they set the standard for customer service, I have dealt with them, and they were top notch. The manufacturers of the pro trac (sorry to lazy to look up the correct spelling) But any company that can admit to a problem and fix it without charging you for their mess up is a company you want to deal with.
