  1. even if you identify X as 3.999 ...? steveOrino
  2. so that same "double" equation can't be written as one equation? steveOrino
  3. math is sounding more and more like a religion to me. The answer depends on who you ask and many say it is semantic game, while others insist they are right and the others are wrong. Forgot to add .. some will insult you when you don't understand their version. steveOrino
  4. so in other words 3.999 ... = 4, right? steveOrino
  5. You get all that when I ask, "How does that make you feel?" ?? steveOrino
  6. As a family therapist math was not a necessary strong suit. Still can't wrap around the explanation people are giving. I guess math is not a B&W concept like I thought. steveOrino
  7. Not sure how 3.999999999 ... = 4. Does 4.1111111 ... equal 4 too? steveOrino
  8. My son showed me this. What is up with this equation? steveOrino
  9. I respectfully disagree with your "blanket" statement. My view is not one from outside but from within. I was in SF (ODA 552 Co B, 2nd BN, 5th SFG) back a LONG time ago (1977-1980) And my son went through the 18X program in 2000. Both us of us were fit to lead and did a good job doing it too. steveOrino
  10. I have a Tony Suit Raptor. I would love to jump with you some time. steveOrino
  11. I didn't have 50-60 seconds. I had a double malfunction and I distinctly remember thinking, "I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!" I did as I was trained and as I trained my students. Fight it all the way down. "Keep pulling handles until your goggles fill with blood" Around 1000 feet I cleared a partial reserve, and survived with a broken foot. I was jumping again in two weeks. steveOrino
  12. Thus my previous response (post #11). Skydiving is a small community. You just ripped an Instructor a new one. Personal attacks on a forum are like shredding a feather pillow on top of a mountain. You can try and gather all the feathers as they scatter in the wind, but you probably won't retrieve them all. steveOrino
  13. Looking at the complexity of my Tonysuit Raptor, I cannot image even trying to make a functional wingsuit. Let us know how she flies. steveOrino
  14. Since the plane crashed at Skydive Airtight it looks like I might not work for a few months. Now is the time to hone my WS skills. I went to Hill Billy Boogie in MO (Mullins King Air) and brought my wingsuit. I had to make solos. Any WS guys in the states, DZs near me or is Skydive Dallas the closest DZ around with WSers? PS. Without the tandem/AFF Instructor work at Skydive Airtight I don't have much money to travel to other boogies. steveOrino
  15. Do you mean their website? If so, where exactly? steveOrino
  16. I'm a TI and AFFI who is a Cessna rat. Is there an online resource that shows the different tandem (and AFF) exits from different aircrafts? steveOrino
  17. When I was a green newb, Michael would jump with me at Skydive Airtight. Miss ya, big guy! SteveO steveOrino
  18. THAT picture is more than enough motivation for me to not to swoop. I'll stick with the skydiving part and leave the swooping for the kids and for those with strong bones (and big balls) steveOrino
  19. "I impacted on my ... scrotum" " horse-stamped scrotums." Dude, you are making the "big balls" jokes way too easy steveOrino
  20. I know Matt a little... Filmed some tandems for him back 5 years ago or so. If you are going to call him out publicly why don't you reveal more info. How long has he been incognito for instance. He could be traveling ... steveOrino
