No, what did I say that led you to believe that? I simply agreed that our "starting place" is greatly influenced by our environment, parents, culture, etc. steveOrino

I take my GoPro on all my tandems. I sell the stills afterwards to 95% of those who didn't pre-purchase them. I have two GoPros and would like to use them both (video & stills) anyone have a set-up (glove) for that? steveOrino

That trust has been earned. Just like I trust my wife of 36 years w/o reservation. Why? Because she has earned that. God/JC has certainly earned my trust w/o reservation. The interesting thought is if you had been born to muslim parents you would be saying the same thing about Allah. Or possibly hindu parents then you would most likely feel as strongly about their gods as you do for the christian god. Very likely In my opinion that lessens the credibility of any of the deitys. If belief simply depends on where you were born or what your parents believed then it isn't really all that likely to be "the truth" as so many Christians like to claim of their faith. To me it only means where you were born influences where you start in this journey. I know many people from other cultures who became Christians (followers of Christ) and many westerners who chose not to take that path. steveOrino

Isn't that statement contradictary? Beliving in Jesus' teachings is beleiving in the integreaty of those that are responsable for relaying that message, that is faith in its purest form. I said I moved away from "blind faith", not "faith." I see a difference between the two. To me, faith is not belief without proof, but trust without reservations -- a trust in a God who has shown himself worthy to me of that trust. steveOrino

Personally, my understanding of God, doesn't mind you questioning anything. I think He rewards "seekers" (John 20:25-26) I have moved away from so much "blind" faith and dogma, but I have never left Jesus, particularly His teachings as a way of life. steveOrino

Anyone have a clue how you do this? We launched a 3 way with "ok" results. two out on strut -- one diving door. We have no clue how to add a 4th if Jill comes out next weekend. steveOrino

I'm closing in on 2000 jumps. I have one simple strategy... Shut up and listen. steveOrino -
I started IAD. I got to 13 jumps (I was on 10 second delays) and was chipping all over the sky. My instructor (who had the total of about 150 jumps) told me to relax. This was his input from the plane as I fell from his view. I was about ready to quit skydiving as I was very uncomfortable at pull time as I chipped across the sky. But I called a buddy who said to come to his DZ which offered AFF. I did and the immediate feedback I received from the AFF instructors (with 1000s of jumps) relaxed me in the sky and I was able to complete the AFF in the minimal # of jumps. Now I am an AFF Instructor and an IAD Instrucor. Both have their advantages, but if you are more of a kinetic learner as I am, you may find AFF the way to go ... I sure did! Welcome to the "club" steveOrino

First AFF, 255 lbs, what do i need to know...
steveorino replied to jpickens's topic in Safety and Training
There's a considerable number of configurations for a rig to be completely TSO'd for up to 300 lbs. Don't hate the Anvil Brothers +1 Glad the guys that taught me to skydive weren't that way. I'd never have earned my D, AFFI, TI and PRO (on a 150) steveOrino -
Tell Purple Mike to take you up! steveOrino

If you can't find anyone in SDD (and you will) drive up to Skydive Tulsa and the DZO, Dale, and I will jump with you; and I will even pay for your slot. Thanks for your service! steveOrino

Lot more that I fly a GoPro steveOrino -

Thanks! That is what I needed to know. I was going to PM you, but I figured you might be jumping. I did a wingsuit withe DZO yesterday. He has a Birdman suit (Phi?) and we had a blast! Except I said lets get out at this point and turn around to the DZ. We got out and he took off. Man, can he fly fast! By the time I caught him and turned back we ended up 3 miles south of the DZ. Purple Mike would have been proud! steveOrino

For stills (NOT video) is there any reason to get the GoPro HD, versus the cheaper GoPro. I currently use the GoPro HD for stills (handcam) and thought about buying a second camera. That way I could have the HD for video and the other for stills. steveOrino

homophobic, eh? Me thinks you protest to much! Hardly the thing I think of when I have a male tandem student. Why are you so focused on that?? steveOrino

I disagree ... personally if they had the flying skills, I'd prefer the 500 jump over 3 years guy versus the guy with 200 jumps in a year. There are opportunities to learn besides the sky. In other words, time in sport is meaningful too. But as I said in my original post, numbers by themselves can be meaningless steveOrino

First "Oh Shit" moment today
steveorino replied to Mad_Jasper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Get some coach jumps, the outside "eyes" wil help you determine what you did ... most likely drop a knee or something like that steveOrino
