  1. haha ... got me. 'cept people that know me know my agendas aren't hidden. People who know me know I was yanking your chain. steveOrino
  2. I'm just yanking his chain. Spot helped a guy with a problem, and Rhys rather insinuate Spot was driven by his own ego rather than consider anything else. This is why I seldom post on here anymore. Too many are here with some sort of hidden agenda. steveOrino
  3. So your stance is credentials don't matter? Is that just in psychology or skydiving too? steveOrino
  4. Since this is what I do for a living, I'm curious what training do you have to diagnose psychological causes ... (of anything?) steveOrino
  5. here are some of mine from last year and this year. steveOrino
  6. meh, got 15/15 ... and could have answered most of those questions when I was 15. I got 15/15 and I've been an atheist since I was old enough to think for myself. proving my point these were 'softball' questions. Funny, then, that so few Christians in the published survey got them correct. Says more about them than the survey -- it was Sunday School stuff at best. steveOrino

  9. Thanks everyone for the well wishes and prayers for my wife! steveOrino
  10. I love the idea! How come I didn't think of it? steveOrino
  11. Thanks buddy! AWESOME WEBPAGE!! http://www.arvelshults.com/ steveOrino
  12. My wife went with me on my 1000th and was supposed to go with me on my 2000th jump, but she has breast cancer and is presently receiving chemo. We didn't feel it was safe enough for her jump (with the port and all) so my 31 year old daughter, Rashelle, filled in. It was a good day! New plans are for my wife to join me on my 1000th tandem. steveOrino
  13. And you have been right so many times predicting the future. steveOrino
  14. My AFF Instructor (with 3000 jumps) asked to borrow my WS to try out. I told him my Raptor was not a beginner WS. He replied "But I have mad skills" No kidding, he said that! I told him I was an AFFI, TI, and PRO rated jumper with "some" skills but I wouldn't let my first "swooping" canopy be a 89 Velocity. He said okay and moved on. Some people never get it. Take your time and take your advice from Instructors at your DZ. steveOrino

  16. I'm a TM with 700 tandems; I'm also an AFFI and a wingsuiter. I wouldn't dream of doing a flyby with a tandem because I only have about 75 WS jumps. For the life of me I cannot imagine a TM letting you do this. I wouldn't let you jump with me and my student at your level of experience of 238 jump let alone your 38 WS jumps... Geesh! Doesn't the TMs at your DZ care about their student's safety?? No need to answer, they obviously don't -- if they let you flyby them. /rant steveOrino
  17. Big deal. I started (excluding military jumps in the 70s) as a POP. They have groups for skydivers over 40, over 60, over 70, over 80, What no over 50???? At 55, I feel discriminated against! steveOrino
  18. Congrats on living life to the fullest. Call the local TV and newspaper. They like human interest stories and they will put refer to a website about your attempt as well. I fixed your photo for you. steveOrino
  19. I made many military jumps in the 70s. Then I raised kids for 20+ years. At age 46 I came back to the sky. I'm closing in on 2000 jumps and I'm an AFFI, TI, and I earned my AFFI at age 53. Age is but a number.the old saying goes. ... people don't quit skydiving because they get old; they get old because they quit skydiving. steveOrino
  20. A false dichotomy, unless one wishes to insist on the literal truth of each word of the Bible. Then you're in some trouble, as the Bible is full of contradictions and is an extraordinarily poor science textbook. I know a lot of people who are committed Christians and who have no issue with evolution. Don I agree steveOrino
  21. I remember a discussion with a guy at work that was a Christian, went to ORU, then after getting his PhD he no longed felt he could be a Christian because he believed in evolution (I personally don't see where the two are incompatible, but I understand if he earned his undergrad at ORU why he would) His one statement near the end of our conversation has stuck with me for over a decade. He said, "But I sure miss Jesus." steveOrino
  22. And this is why I gave up posting in SC a while back. These discussion always end up in insult flinging, slams, "scripture flinging" tirades where all parties appear as fools (IMHO) I enjoy discussing my beliefs and exploring other people's beliefs, especially atheist & agnostics. (I grow weary discussing with "Christians" who have EVERY answer) So back to the Instructor and WS threads it is for me. steveOrino
  23. How does one get a glove like that? steveOrino
  24. Most NT scholars I know would say no. So would I based on my studies when I earned a MA in Theo steveOrino
