Is buying your child birth control supporting/encouraging sex?
NCclimber replied to Conundrum's topic in Speakers Corner
Talk about your shitty analogy. What's the alternative to Some dumbass moral warm and fuzzy? having your twelve year old having their own infant? Yes--keep your moral high ground--it's better than keeping your child from having their own children while still in high school. Friggin fundies. What a dumb fucking reply! I said nothing about which might be the best course of action. You seem intent on attacking me for something I didn't bring up. Maybe someday, you'll be able to distinguish what people say and what you imagine was implied. -

Talk about your shitty analogy. Come on people, face it, giving a teenager birth control and saying "I'm not encouraging anything... but if you do have sex, be safe", is more permissive than simply discouraging pre-marital sex. -
Show me your papers please... ID's for going to the mall...

It's private property that is open to the public. This is age discrimination. If they want to keep out the "undesirables", then implement a dress code. No gang colors, No ill-fitting clothes, etc. Of course, that will inevitable provoke cries of racism. -
According to GOP philosophy Liberal hypocrisy, yes. There you go. What do you think Bush is referring to when he says "cap and trade"? I've never heard him use that term, so I'm guessing he's talking emission trading.

So it's okay to commute (solo) in a 12mpg behemoth SUV, if you buy pollution credits?

Does anyone honestly think Al Gore is not being a hypocrite, here?

OK if you think the Prez has that much power...Care to explain how Clinton caused the Dotcom bust and the drop in the economy then? Are you now claiming all your right wing buddies were wrong when they wrote about the "Clinton recession"?

That news broke before the markets opened yesterday. The Dow closed down 10 points. The Dow is currently 180 off its low.

And then there's John Edwards, who has been trying to make a name for himself as an advocate of the poor, while he puts the finishing touches on his 28,200 square foot home, which sits on 102 acres.

I don't think I could have given you a better lob. I should have clarified I was talking about the food nazis at CSPI.

I think he would be more likely to succeed if he set a good example. Bullshit. You're an intelligent guy, so you have to recognize that making an Oscar winning documentary and running a huge PR campaign is more likely to get a message across than simply sitting at home and setting a good example. Ideally, he'd do the former WHILE setting a good example, but the truth is, if he had the most energy efficient house and transportation modes in the world, those who dislike him or disagree with his message would just find another reason to do so. Billvon sets a pretty damned good example. Gore doesn't. Which do you think has been a more effective agent for change by others? I'd wager Gore and "An Inconvenient Truth" have had the greater overall impact. Blues, Dave Are you saying he's not a hypocrite? Or is a matter of you excusing his hypocrisy because you support his message?

The courts have the final say. UnConstitutional laws get struck down with some regularity eventually. Fixed it.

Warning: Grisly Hate Crime Unreported In Major Media

I guess the same could be said about almost every contentious post/poster in this forum. Of course, this has nothing to do with the questions I asked you. -

I think one of the points in the OP was that this story is not garnering attention. Has it made national news? From my brief research, it looks like all the coverage is local, including an AP report by a local. This seems to be part of a pattern on under-reporting vicious crimes when the assailant is a member of an "oppressed group" and the victims are part of the "power structure". Do a little digging and you'll find a boatload of vicious crimes upon white victims that never get anything more than local coverage. How is that different from any homicide that does not involve a celebrity? Non-celeb homicides are just local news. Matthew Shepard, James Byrd Jr. http://www.coloringthenews.com/ And the other 16,000+ each year? You seem to be saying this is just a run of the mill homicide... that it's really no more noteworthy than the majority of all other homicides. Is that about right? I wonder how many of those 16,000+ homicides/year are as brutal as these two. You're in the wrong profession - you should become the news editor for a major media outlet, clearly you know the business better than the guys currently doing it. Nice re-direct. You do it so well. -
Now that's walking your talk.

The entitlement mentality is alive in well among the rich - corporate welfare, tax cuts, stock options, golden parachutes, huge pensions, bonuses despite performance, etc. Are you really using one bad situation to justify another? A few top executives are exploiting the system so that makes it okay for everyone else, too?
-
Well then, it should be easy to get it close to 100% then. At least it's easy to make such a claim.... no matter how unrealistic.
