Let's disect(sp?) this one. I believe the White House set out to discredit Joe Wilson. It's been proven that much of what he said were blatant lies. There was a lengthy, thorough investigation looking into the claim of the White House intentional outed Valerie Plame. Nothing was found to support that claim. On the other hand:

And he still had >50% approval rating after all that, meaning the people thought it was pathetic. And yet Gore was unable to secure a decisive win in 2000, even though he was sitting on top of the greatest bull market in history, low unemployment and the best budget forecasts in a generation. The party in power stays in power during good times. This is (nearly) a universal truth. Gore's winning the election was a gimme. Bummer.

We almost made it to the second page without someone dragging the War in Iraq into the discussion. Almost.

When the Dems get caught in sex scandals, they claim it's no one's business. when Repubs get caught, they resign. Dems don't cheat and steal? Abscam. Keating Five (4 of 5 were Ds). Jim Wright. Maybe I'm the exception, but part of the of whole Clinton-Lewinski scandal that really chapped me was Clinton's unscheduled, national address to go on the record, to the American public, that he did not have sex with that woman... that Monica Lewinski. Until then, it was all just more of the same background noise. That address was a proclamation to the American people. Adding salt to the wound, he let a number of his staff fall on the grenade for him, while they ran up huge legal bills. When the blue dress story broke, it was... like... "you lying sack of shit.... you common bastard... vast right-wing conspiracy? My ass!" It was about a straight-forward betrayal to the American people. You guys keep trying to make it solely about a little sexual indiscretion, even though that's just one part of a much larger picture.

Both sides are guilty of hypocrisy, however Bill's incident had much more going on than just exramarital sex. Yes, Clinton did get a BJ from an intern (like a teacher/student relationship, or congressman/page relationship - usually that is not considered acceptable). But, he didn't just get blowjobs. He was being questioned under oath because of allegations of sexual misconduct. He lied to cover up the pattern that supported the allegations. He didn't just have a bad memory about what he told to whom. There were also substantial allegations of being a rapist, sexual imposition & harassment, making advances to a woman on the day of her husband's death, having the Arkansas state police help him get women... Everybody knows that Clinton getting a BJ was nothing more than a right-wing witchhunt. Who he sexually assaulted behind closed doors is really nobody's business. What should be just as obvious to you is, regardless of the outcome of this latest special prosecutor investigation and trial, Bush, Cheney, Rove and the rest of those fucktard neo-cons intentionally outed Valerie Plame, as an act of retribution, knowing full well about the laws being broken and the immeasurable harm it would do to foreign intelligence. Proof? We duh neeed no stinkin' proof!!! Frog march Karl Rove down to the pokey. Lock him up and throw away the key. We have Joe Wilson's word... and that's good enough for me.

John, You seem intent on overlooking what has been stated repeatedly. This is a private institution, that has the "right" to set policy for it's students. Furthermore, big time college football programs are basically dictatorships. What the coach says... goes. Period. My way or the highway. Every team member is there voluntary. Following the coach's and university's rules are a conditional requirement?

This situation has been picked over for 2 1/2 years, by expert investigators. They found nothing to support Joe Wilson's claim of Plame being outed as an act of retribution. I've read about Bush supposedly declassifying portions of the classified National Intelligence Estimate, which was to be used by Cheney and Libby to discredit Wilson. But I haven't found anything declassifying Plame's covert status. It seems people are confusing two separate issues.

The evidence is in the form of the grand jury testimony Libby and others. Yes, Armitage outed her as well as Rove and Libbby, at the direction of Cheney. You say Rove and Libby outed her at Cheney's direction. I say that's a complete fabrication... a fantasy... that dog don't hunt! You keep referencing Libby's GJ testimony, but I've researched it and couldn't find where he said Cheney instructed him and Rove to leak Plame's (classified) employment status. In this day and age of polemic spin it's often difficult to discern what is fact from all that is presented as fact.

I also wonder why Armitage, Cheney and Rove weren't charged -- yet. Who knows? Maybe if we're all lucky, you will get to see the evidence. The thing is .... there is no evidence of what so many claim. It's an assumption based on the charges made by Joe Wilson... and he's proven his credibility. Just because you want something to be true, doesn't make it so.

I don't even see that as being the biggest issue. It would be interesting to see a report of contacts that Plame had in countries she worked and what has happened to those contacts since her CIA status was made public, but obviously no such report could ever be made public. My guess is that at least serveral of them haven't faired too well in their questioning by their governments. It would also be interesting to see a report on what information those contacts may have given up. THIS is the tragedy here. Not that Plame was compromised, but rather our intelligence gathering capabilities may have been and all for some political payback by some assholes that simply had to have no opposition to their horribly wrong ideas about how to conduct a war on terror. Can someone show me any evidence of the White House intentionally outing Valerie Plame??? Armitage outed her... and he wasn't charged? I wonder why?
